  1. Another example of the dangers of innumeracy and scientific ignorance fostered by the modern “educational” system. I guess none of these geniuses has ever considered that areas of permafrost only get intense sunlight for a few months of the year. Most of the year arctic areas are net radiators of heat and that’s one of the primary reasons one has permafrost in the first place. Then there’s always soil insulation that would likely take centuries of elevated temperatures before one would have any appreciable warming a few feet below ground. Of course these morons couldn’t understand about the logarithmic relationship between greenhouse gas concentrations and warming as they’ve never been taught about such advanced subjects as the use of log tables to multiply.
2012 is the Y2K of the counterculture crowd with their belief in the absolutely accurate predictions of the Mayans who were easily able to predict that the world would end in 2012 but seem to have been a bit myopic about their own social problems. Maybe what we’ve discovered is the Mayan equivalent of the CAGW climate models that predict disaster in the far future.
Probably the most scary thing about this is that there are a lot of people who really believe in this BS.

  2. Man oh man. Another missed opportunity. I’m really bad lucky.
I knew I should have taken that Undertaking course at Humber….

  3. Guess the civil servants and teachers don’t need those fully indexed pensions after all. We’ll save on healthcare costs as well.

  4. I just told a neighbour lady the line about 7 billion people will die this century (great point!) and she started on about overpopulation and how we are in big trouble and yadda yadda yadda.
Then I asked her how many people died last century?
    Silence.
Then something clicked and she realized she was going off tangent.
Wish more would do the same who realize they are off tangent.
    Gotta love statistics? 😉

  5. When it comes to a question of earth science who are you going to trust, scientists or creationists? 7 out of 10 creationists agree AGW is bunk.
