25 Replies to “Race Based Political Parties”

  1. The chief of one of Saskatchewan’s largest First Nations is calling for the creation of a First Nations provincial political party.
A political party composed of a race of people who don’t pay taxes.
    Nice.
This would first kill the Sask NDP and then make the choice of which party to vote for simple for non-Indians.

  2. I wonder what party membership might require – and if one can legally limit party memberships to individuals of a specific race, sex, religion, etc. under the Charter?

  3. The Chief is probably just trying to get there before the Islamic party takes hold. Many will be confused … Feathers, turbans …. what’s the difference. Maybe they should joint up and call themselves the “Funny Hats Party”.
It would work, both sects are tribal by nature and have no respect for women. It could work.

  4. Saskatchewan, land of idiotic ideas. Must be something in the living sky that causes the abhorrence of the practical, like fixing the damn roads.

  5. The bands can’t even be held accountable for their corruption on the reserves, let’s just glorify that problem don’t we.
    Race over ethics.

  6. “Fox said Onion Lake elders and leaders will be endorsing the NDP because of its more favourable First Nations proposals.”
When will these people come to the realization that the best thing that can happen to them is a strong, growing economy and steady governance? All that the NDP is offering are pie-in-the-sky, unsustainable promises.
I honestly thought that the elders had more sense.

  7. From the article: “For next week’s provincial election vote, however, Fox said Onion Lake elders and leaders will be endorsing the NDP because of its more favourable First Nations proposals.”

Hmmmmm. The Onion Lake Reserve straddles the Sask/Alberta border. Do they all get to vote in Sask elections?
Not far away is the City of Lloydminster, which also straddles the border. Those who live on the Alberta side (which is the vast majority of the pop.) don’t get to vote in Sask elections.

  8. The Charter is high on protecting minorities re race, religion, and probably sex and the various deviations from male and female, no matter how ridiculous or outmoded applications may be.
Native Indians can do whatever they like, they do not abide our laws as the disgrace of Caledonia proves, it would be nice if the Elders would deal with issues like this rather than feather up and ignore them.

  9. The only thing any Saskatchewan needs to do is bring in a black candidate like in the US and you’re sure to win, Duh.
Find someone off the street Like Obamba he doesn’t even need to know a thing about governing, just have the ability to read a teleprompter. Then send him on lots of expensive vacations, a few basketball games, and throw lots of star studded Motown parties to keep him happy and out of the way.
    Very simple.

  10. I recommend they form the party, then after they lose the election, they complain with the NDP about proportional representation, then merge together shortly after that.

  11. The Chiefs that blame “white society” for the economic and social problems of their people are using the same ruse as the Arab sheiks who blame their similar problems on the “joos”.
This won’t change until the federal government reforms their governance and applies the rule of law on reserves.
In today’s Star Phoenix, Columnist Mark Lemstra writes about bullying on reserves. Victims are often those who do well in school and those whose parents have done likewise, and who have good jobs.

Many, but not all reserves, lack political and moral leadership. Until the prov. and fed. gov’t rewards the honest, dedicated leaders and not the corrupt ones, this will continue.

  12. Does anyone know why the bush Indians prefer plains Indian ceremonial dress?
    ~Scar
Same reason that ‘cowboys’ dress like they do today, Hollywood.
Seems that not all sterotypes are to be rejected.

  13. I don’t understand what the average aboriginal Canadians problem is? They continuously say that they want “the old ways back” yet they are completely free to give up all their modern amenities, move out on crown land and build a Tepee village. They already have all the “no limits hunting privileges” they need, and they are completely free to live off the land like their ancestors did.
If some aboriginal peoples want to live in the society that white European Canadians built, then they need to be treated the same as white European Canadians. No more debilitating Liberal welfare entitlements, or tax exemptions or special regulatory consideration. Either way an aboriginal chooses they can live life the way they wish, if they could only shed the invisible chains of Liberal bondage.
Maybe then, they wouldn’t be as blind to the encroachment of “Progressive” multiculturalism, which in fact will decimate the Aboriginal claims & current treaties over time. Liberalism has guaranteed the extinction of North American Aboriginal people’s culture and lifestyles, too bad they can’t seem to recognize it.

  14. Ahhhhh Trudopia…. it just gets dumber and dumber. Entitled tribes of bigoted specialness… “what could possibly go wrong”?

  15. Let them have their own party. Their race/gender-based party will have a very small following of aboriginals who choose to vote and the odd self-hating white liberal.

  16. The chief of one of Saskatchewan’s largest First Nations is calling for the creation of a First Nations provincial political party.

I didn’t know that first nations had provinces.

Democracy is a fairly loose and meaningless word when used by the left.
Are you referring to an “Arab Spring” style of democracy where the popular vote goes for totalitarianism, or are you simply implying that “tories” work against your personal wishes of restricted freedoms for all?
You style of “democracy” is to fight the abolishment of the CWB that forced western farmers to sell their grain at fixed market pricing while the eastern farmers have had the freedom of choice. Possibly the abolishment of the gun registry brought in by the Liberal left, a clear mark of totalitarian authority at anytime in the world’s history.
You may stick your pseudo Democracy shtick up your ass. Canada has spoken, and you have been set back to where you belong. Canadians believe in a representative democracy that provides freedoms and liberties for all. Harpers Torie government is hard at work restoring those basic freedoms and values after years of “Liberal” plundering.
You of course are more than welcome to go live in any one of those Arab countries and enjoy the new democracies of your ilk’s creation. You helped build it, now go live in it.

  18. I find it racist that the newspaper would choose to use a picture of the chief in a traditional headress. Is it because they think people are too stupid to make the connection
