Sometimes I feel guilty about the crushing debt our generation is passing on to the next. Then I see polling results like this. Whatever!

Where is the third option?
Young:Dumb

Touche Kate.
That said, it’s hard to blame that demographic for their short-sightedness considering their ages.
Someday real soon, the baby boomers will be stuffed in box cars for the concentration camps by the same entitled crowd…Their “final solution” of sorts for ‘having horded all the money’ (aka saving for retirement)…here in Canada, the rise of a man sporting a mustache will lead them to this horrible…Eh! Wait!…Jack Layton? 😉
This is the same generation who doesn’t understand the principles of interest on loans nor the value of compound interest on savings.
Their only question is “How much are the payments?”
And “Can I take it with me now?”
“We reap what we rape” says I.
I don’t feel guilty. I didn’t vote for “Hope and Change”. Still, we all will suffer if this isn’t fixed.
Stuffing Texans in a box car might be a wee bit tougher than the last experience . . .
Young not always wise. A friend talked me in to helping put up NDP signs when I was in high school. That was pretty stupid.
Saturday mornings, one TV channel, old Social Credit guy explaining compounding of interest. I never forgot those.
Considering that every recent Republican president has left the States in crushing deficit – i.e., Reagan turning the US from a creditor to debtor nation for the first time, and GW Bush turning the largest surplus of all time – created by Clinton – into the biggest deficit of all time, one can only look at your in your deluded attempt to allow your corporate masters to suck the treasury dry once again, Kate, and say: Whatever!
Fact is, you need the left-leaning to rescue you guys from sending the economy over the cliff – again – as you want to prove to your corporate masters that you’re quite willing to sacrifice all in a misguided attempt to appease them.
Really, Kate et al, can you find some other way to work out your Abusive Daddy issues?
Abusive Daddy will never love you, no matter how many times you vote against your own interests and sabotage the economy to prove your undying desire to kiss his bum.
Really guys. Grow up, stand up, grow a pair. the rest of us are getting tired of pulling you out of the fire. I know that decency is too much to ask for – but pragmatism…maybe?
Huffpo down again? AOL obviously has issues.
The latest poll has Jacko only three points behind Harper, we could end up waking up on Tuesday with a socalists progressive flake as PM. I think I need a drink, no lots of drinks.
Anyone who votes NDP deserves to live with the results. But must they drag the rest of us along??
Geeze, Jess. Where can I get me one of these corporate masters? I could use bags of money.

When you see how eager many students are to run up their student debt there can be little compassion.
BTW student loan money helps keep the bars of university towns prosperous. It doesn’t all go for
studies, not by a long shot!
Polls aren’t to be trusted. If you didn’t make it to the advance polls, Get your friends and family out and VOTE!
I believe the polls on the orange surge. It’s real. The deadly problem here is that there are tons of commies and freaks who will now probably put down the bong for a few hours and go vote. Mark my words this is a freaking disaster.
You can’t put an old head on young shoulders.
Eh. Ryan’s “plan” is no better than Obamas. When both options suck, it comes down to a coin flip, or political allegiance. Since younger people are more likely to vote for the Democrats, it’s no surprise that they’d choose along political lines. If you expect them to back a Republican plan you need to offer something that’s significantly better, instead of something that’s just as bad as the Democrat plan but also takes away their social entitlements.
You can’t put an old head on young shoulders.

No, not without being arrested.
Yeah life experience can be a real asset when you get older but then you also remember all the tough times when you rise in the morning…..
Yeah, I was young and some trolls here may say foolish…..but I reacted different than they….when I heard the distant trumpet…I rode to the sound of the guns…..
It is discouraging to here these young folks spout their revision of what is really recent history……I recall some of my contemporaries sympathising with the communists…predicting they would bring security, safety, peace and tranquility….while we knew that our allies would perish in re-education camps….#$%^&*( Jane Fonda….
Hmmmm, a positive in the Jacko for PM scenario?
Drawing a line at the Saskatchewan Border West. Farmland, Oil, Trees and Minerals Galore…..
jess:
So, you are your own master?
I’m waiting with batered breath to find out what public sector union you are a member of.
Waiting for you to give an example where any People’s Republic created any equality other than equality of misery.
I’d rather live in a system where equality of opportunity is the guiding principle. Where even you could start up a business, become successful at it and one day the politics of envy could label you a corporate master.
Or, is a green economy like Spain better? I hear their experience cost them about $750,000 to create one green job, while losing 2.2 jobs for each one created.
Only an economic illiterate, of which it sounds like you are a member of, believes they could do better through the powers of the state without actually trying to do better.
I could be wrong in my impression of you, of course.
This is more evidence that indoctrination in the schools has a shelf life. It works better when its fresh and untainted by reality.
Just like whatever jess is smoking.
Hey jess! The party of unions, the DemocRats, just voted to STRIP collective bargaining rights from public employees in a union stronghold, Massachusetts.
That was the disturbance in The Force y’all felt today.
There is an age equals wisdom adage here somewhere.
I read a long time ago, that the boomers would vote themselves a pension when the time came.
That time has come…

End quote:
Take the east with you, what the socialists’ flakes don’t realise is the Corporations are also big liberal media the same media that’s demonized Harper and those corporations have share holders who’ll lose a great deal of their investment should Jack become PM. Our markets would tank, future investment in Canada would grind to a halt and the trickle down effect would destroy union jobs. Of course the left are so busy kicking corporate Canada they’ve forgotten they provide the best paid union jobs. When Ma Bell and her toady Media friends start losing mega revenue due to the socialists I shall enjoy watching Liberal Media go belly up like they did in the US.
I left a post at the CBC. In brief if Jack wins I get a pension increase and I will probably be dead by the time they claw it back. If Steve wins I just keep some in the first place. Ig won’t win which is good for the youth because they are going to pay tax for the rest of their lives.
Is it any wonder that the socialist parties in the West have supported reducing the voting age to the children who still believe in tooth fairies and free money, while the older people would like to increase the voting age to 25>
Gobi Desert, “Young” is by definition NOT WISE. This is why the socialists always want to lower the voting age. They know that no serious adult would vote for their policies.
I was with you for the first half there, Jess, but now you’re just being stupid. Either that or you’re trolling. Stick to the facts instead of trying to goad them. They’ll get all emotional on you anyway, even without provocation, so this type of childish pseudopsychoanalysis is rather pointless.
GWBush: biggest deficit in human history
Someone break the news to jess about this Barack Obama guy and his Democratic supermajority.
economies have done better under Democrats rather then Republicans
Remember that awful 4.5% unemployment rate under Bush? Bad times, bad times.
economies have done better under Democrats rather then Republicans. Reagan: from creditor to debtor nation.
That booming economy from 1983 on (growth rates between 7.1 and 9.3% for more than a year during one stretch) was such a drag, right?
I’m always amazed at how the left (generally the youth demographic) uses the little children of the future to try to coerce the older money earners into doing something “NOW” about the so-called, global warming threat, but when it comes to the debt (that they will have to deal with) it’s a big “no problem” and a little “we’ll worry about that one later”.
You’re right, Kate. “Whatever”.
“Also: Harper: biggest deficit in history.”
Jess, you do realize that we are in a recession? And also that the other parties pushed the tories to spend on stimulus or face a non-confidence vote?
Now, if you want to look at facts, let’s look at some facts from the Trudeau era. Trudeau managed to borrow enough money during times of prosperity to build up a $38 billion dollar deficit by 1982. If there are any mathemeticians out there who can convert 1982 dollars into 2011 equivalent then I would be grateful. I do believe they would probably be the equivalent of at least three times what they were worth then which would mean a hell of a lot more than what our deficit is now. We are doing well in comparison to other first world nations out there with our current deficit.
If a leftist government gets in power we will be in trouble. I remember the NDP being in charge in Ontario years ago. My job evaporated as soon as the corporate taxes got too high and I didn’t qualify for Bob Rae’s Jobs Ontario because I was CAUCASIAN. I can see this happening again if Taiban Jack gets voted in. I just hope enough Canadians heed the lessons learned when Bob Rae destroyed Ontario. I fear that many people will go full retard and vote orange and then blame someone else when the country goes bankrupt.
Bush was President. He did not control the Senate or House. He didn’t want Fannie an Freddie to run amok.
But unlike the current double the debt every two years POTUS Bush had class and style.
Watch and learn.

And also that the other parties pushed the tories to spend on stimulus or face a non-confidence vote?
And in fact, both Layton and Iggy decried the size of the stimulus as being far too small. So if jess’ Marxist heroes had been in office, I’m sure he’d be railing at their “greatest deficit in history”.
Or would he ignore it, as he does his Messiah Obama’s record?
The sliding infatuation with socialism as age advances is evidence of ‘education’ brainwashing.
The farther one wades out into reality from hs and college, the more one realises it is you who are to produce the goods for the others to thrive on.
The fog lifts for many, unless of course one is a bureaucrat, or some other form of taker.
Sask. under N.D.P. bigest export our kids. Lasted 70 years. Sask. party 4years lots of jobs low taxes. Kids come home. Ever wonder why?
Werner Patels announces he will be voting NDP.

This is not computing; he rails against lefties and unions; yet he will vote NDP in protest. People in general are dumber than you might think – the Dippers might win this thing…
Abe Froman says, “This is the same generation who doesn’t understand the principles of interest on loans nor the value of compound interest on savings.”
That is correct. They are not numerate. Outside of a few physics students. Probably not even business students.
I still believe that we would be far better off to:
Lower the drinking age to 14;
Raise the driving age to 25; and
Raise the voting age to 35
America and Canada are similar – note the rise of the NDP in this election.
I once supported the Dippers, until I learned enough math to realize that “making the rich pay” would only work if we defined “rich” as making more than twelve bucks an hour.
I grew out of it – so will these youngsters.
Too bad we might have to be victims of their stupidity on election day.
The problem with the Ryan plan is it exempts people over 55 from giving back even a penny of the money they stole.
And before you get too pissy on today’s young, remember
They were raised and educated by boomers – the very same people who created this mess and stole their future to greedily spend on themselves.
Boomers (and the generation which preceded them) voted to create the mess we are in. The called themselves the me generation and didn’t see it as an insult.
As for Jess, he’s a hopeless case. You’d have an easier time teaching calculus to a toaster than sense to him. Don’t bother with the trolls.
The NDP in BC were aweful when they were in power. I shudder to think what would happen if they got in federally.
People like tonight’s troll don’t seem to grasp how an economy works. They seem to believe that going after the profits of successful businesses and individuals is a great way for a government to pay for programs that are outside of their areas of responsibility.
Here is a little lesson for you… the money that you earn in interest, dividends, mutual funds, GICs and any other investment that you can think of, including your pension fund by the way… all rely on a robust economy that allows individuals (including even you!) and companies to earn profits that pay all of us who are invested in this economy. We need to wake up to the reality of the useless programs that the feds and let’s face it- we the taxpayers fund. That daycare program that’s “free”? Guess again, you’re paying for it! This applies to every promise that any politician makes. Wouldn’t it be more reasonable to allow us to keep more of our income and pay for a service ourselves if and when we need it?
