Our society can hardly function with 10% unemployment how can an Egyptian one exist with 70% unemployment. Especially if it is democratic. It is as much a fantasy as that being lived by the Islamofascists who think that religion can save them.
I agree with many who suspect Iran is behind this latest unrest. Egypt has to be on their side for the ultimate elimination of Israel and conquest of the Sauid oil fields. Control of the oil and the Suez canal equals dominance of Europe and a economic hammer that could destroy most western economies. Who organizes better in poverty than Islam? It ain’t the Pope anymore.
Blaming Iran for the Egyptian uprising is about the most simpleton conclusion one could come to. Half the population lives around the poverty line, the government is a WELL KNOWN dictatorship…for the last 30 years!
Why do you assume that there must be outside forces involved??? Do you or don’t you understand America’s role in the middle east? Why does speaking the TRUTH about geopolitics somehow equate one with ‘hating America’? Oh right…because that’s the easiest way of dismissing the truth in order to fit one’s opinion.

Louise, it appears you misunderstood my statement. The CURRENT government is a 30 year old dictatorship.
An interesting issue in all this is how America will handle this situation, whether they will continue to support a government they’ve hailed as a close ally while it’s ugly colours are shown to the world.

And as as far as the USA is concerned, how come you boring tedious jerks always manage to leave the Soviet Union out of the analysis? Way back in 1973 my ex and I were in Egypt. I remember us sitting in a restaurant in Cairo having a discussion with a Russian couple we had met there. He (the Russian man) was there on some sort of technical mission from the Soviet Union.
That was during one of the periods when Egypt was aligned with the Soviet bloc. My ex himself is from Iraq. His brother spent many years in the Soviet Union as a translator, translating technical literature from Russian to Arabic.
Thirty years ago, the Soviet Union was still a powerful force in Middle Eastern politics. That era was known as the Cold War. There were two nations involved, not just one, and their wars took place by various means in was was laughingly called the “non-aligned” bloc, which really meant they reserved the right to play the Americans off against the Soviets and vice versa.
The notion that these countries were just pawns of American power is just a myth perpetrated by leftist university professors from which you receive your indoctrination and talking points. The same could be said of the Soviets. The Third World wielded considerable power by playing this game and it only ended when the Soviet Union collapsed. (Well, truthfully, it hasn’t really ended.)
But that’s the nature of real politic in the world as it has always been. Before the rise of American power it was the European empires. Before that, the Ottomans, and on and on back through the recesses of time. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, with the rug subsequently pulled out from under the Third World regimes formerly supported by the Soviets, there is now an ideological struggle going on between Islamists and the West. Egypt was good at keeping a lid on their own Islamists, plus, the thugs in power put less emphasis on blaming the Jooooos for every bleeping thing under the sun, like you leftards do. This mindless bleating about “America this”, “America that”, serves only to reveal what a foolish dupe you are.

Why must you venture into the realm of irrelevant issues and childish insults? What do Jewish people have to do with anything? The ONLY reason the thugs in power in Egypt stay there is that they cooperate with US interests…that is they allow foreign national corporations to benefit from the natural resources while keeping real wealth from the population.

BTJ makes the mistake of ascribing to America more power than she actually has. This is a mistake made across the political spec. Even without US support, Egypt would probably have been ruled by Mubarak or some other dictator.

Hahaha! We both know I’m not referring to the spread of American innovation…besides, innovation appears to be growing in many countries (such as India), but certainly not in America.
