Crikey!!!
The leftarded crocs are really starting to eat their own. Faster, please. But what do you expect from NPR,funded by Soros?
Kate, these reckless, species-ist remarks of yours are inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices here in the SDA Comments, and serve only to undermine your credibility as a … Oh, wait. I’m fired.
Once again, Muslims and PC progressives prove Steyn’s point for him. It will certainly help book sales and increase interest in the what he has to say. You think they’d have learned something after the bad PR from the sock puppet HRC complaint and Coulter’s UofO cancellation.
I hope the only survivor of that crash wasn’t the bonehead who smuggled that croc.
Very clever post Kate.
I think that venue that cancelled Steyn, due to Muslim pressure, requires a closer look, and an email campaign launched against them.
I second No-One…very clever indeed. And I’m sure Churchill knew crocodiles well.
Here’s the who’s who list for the LCC…go get ’em

Interesting to note that the events schedule for the LCC thorough to March shows no “muslim” clients booking events…
Seems the facilities management is lying about muslim clients…
Odd too, about the LLC – not a single testimonial from a muslim client in the brag sheet.
Well well no Muslim clients yet they don’t want to upset non-clients as they turn away paying clients, wow that’s some business module the volunteers are partaking of.
Reptiles. Crocs and Muslims who try and stop free speech, both are reptiles.
Crocodiles? On a plane? We’re gonna need a bigger Samuel L. Jackson…
You really need to take this up with your psychiatrist. Crockaphobia is a firing offense but curable.

To say a word on behalf of the management of the LCC: they may well be genuinely frightened. It is not so much that Muslims pulling their custom will be a threat to the LCC, but that governments might be pressured not to hold events there, that there might be “boycotts” by academic groups and other taxpayer-funded organizations. More importantly, they know that if violence against their clients or property was threatened, the would be afforded little or no protection by the police.
A remarkable transformation began in Italy when a pitiful bunch of Blackshirts staged a “March on Rome” and were not confronted by the authorities.
How do we know it wasn’t a moderate crocodile?
ebt, you brilliant b@stard, why didn’t I think of that?
It’s a cowardly concern, I know, but if we email the people from Skip’s post @4:47 are we going to end up on some kind of thought-crime list? I’ll still probably do it, I’d just like to get a sense of how much I’d be damaging myself.
So can we add “Crocodile” to the list of things you cannot blurt-out at an airport or a theater?
Well I’m going to the Steyn event. Perhaps I’ll stop off at the LCC and dump some raw bacon on its steps.
And I hope to see Mohammedan legal titan Faisal Joseph (tm Jay Currie) in the flesh. That would be nice.
Should we add gator wrestlers to the air marshal program?
Brilliant Kate! Kinda reminds me of a quote attributed to the late Joe Sobran;
“He said if he were watching a “death Match” on the Nature channel he would instinctively be rooting for the Mammal not the reptile”
Go Steyn! we mammals must stick together!
As Steyn puts it:
And, whatever happens, I’ll be there on November 1st, and neither the Islamic enforcers nor their prison wives in the City of London bureaucracy can prevent that.
Already registered and will be in attendance no matter what the venue.
After attending the Coulter appearance last spring, I feel it is a moral obligation to attend just to stick it up the protesters’ asses.
Remember despite it’s lefty image, North London was the scene of the first of Lizzie May’s futile efforts to get elected.
I found that surprising in view of the Marxist noises that erupt from that swamp…
Steyn’s coming to calgary nov 3 BTW…
Pure crocophobia.
Islam is the crocodile. London its snack.
They should paint the town yellow.
JMO
Would that make these crocodile tears? Not one Muzzie event, yet they are willing to “not offend” the Muslim population.
I hope that Americans are watching the door labeled “Free Speech” slamming shut.
Here’s a spokesman from CAIR pushing heavily on that door!

This would be funny if it weren’t so tragic.
The crocodile thing, too.
Obviously, the DRC needs a Crocodile Registry to prevent any more such tragedies.

LCB, you miss their goal, which is to be “in your face, all the time.” AKA “No peace until you acquiesce.”

Although Crocodiles are dangerous, I feel they may be used as metaphors here. I can’t quite figure out what…..
Black Mamba (increasingly paranoid)”we going to end up on some kind of thought-crime list?”
I know what you mean, probably too late for me, written quite a few strongly worded, yet respectful, emails. Perhaps, I shall return to the paper and pen method – few can decipher my signature, so that’s a plus.
I’m thinking phone call this time – will most likely be sent to voicemail, but thats okay. One can always *67 the call first.
The fact that we are concerend about a list is a very bad sign for Canadians, yet given the insanity of the times, understandable. I recall something about Jennifer Lynch having some kind of list – 1200 or so. Don’t know if that was true or just a ploy to control the masses outrage at the time.
Enough is enough!! I’ve had it with these m#@34 f@#in’ crocs on this m#@34 f@#in’ plane.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4t6zNZ-b0A
This is just another sign of where we are headed.
Just doing my bit:
Dear Sir or Madam;
I note that you are a public or at least semi-public facility and thus responsible to the citizens of the City of London. I also note that according to Andrew Lawton, you have cancelled an upcoming speech by Mclean’s columnist and international author, Mark Steyn. According to Mr. Lawton, this was due to pressure from Muslim organizations or as he put it, your “Muslim clients”.
Can this possible be true? In my Canada?
One must ask why your “Muslim clients” are not simply Canadian clients like the rest of us? What allows them to be priviledged at the incredible cost of freedom of speech? This would be the free speech that my Uncle Peter died for over France in 1943 at the tender age of 21. Why have you chosen to act as dhimmis instead of as free and democratic citizens in a once great country?
I am a lifetime member of a national organization that holds annual conventions across Canada and often sit on the convention committee. We have held them from Victoria to Charlottetown, but I can assure you that I will make my voice known to not only my own organization but to many, many others. If I am able to exert any influence at all, neither my own organization nor those of others whom I intend to contact, will EVER consider the London Convention Centre as a venue for future events.
London Ontario is not my Canada.
good for you No Guff.
Excellent No Guff – I’m changing my mind – email it is.
‘Same thought occurred to me, Black Mamba. But if you keep it “above board” (so tempting not to, that’s the really frustrating part) and appeal to our Charter rights of freedom of speech, expression, and assembly being violated, that this is an undemocratic move on their part, etc., etc., I can’t see how you’re going to end up on a list.
If I do end up on a list, I guess that’s the cost of being free. If others in Canada choose to abrogate my rights, then I’ll have to deal with that if/when it happens. I always keep copies of my dated correspondence just in case anyone wants to accuse me of saying something I didn’t say.
Roseberry: “A remarkable transformation began in Italy when a pitiful bunch of Blackshirts staged a ‘March on Rome’ and were not confronted by the authorities.” How pathetic that Canada’s being intimidated by a kind of shari’a blackshirt column. Somewhere else, I read that Muslims are 2% of our population and, yet, they’re pulling our strings all the time.
Enough is enough.
Great letter, No Guff.
Response from Lori Da Silva at the LCC:
Thank you for your note. The London Convention Centre never had a contract to host this event and received no pressure from any groups at any time in regard to this event.
The plot thickens.

Posible explainations:
1) Da Silva inplies BCF fabricated this affair…
2) Somebody at LCC made an unauthorized phone-call…..
3) Da Siva is disembling…..

I too received a response from Ms. Da Silva as shown below. My response to her follows, in which I have asked her to clarify who is mis-speaking about the booking.
I think she’s digging a deeper hole and I’m going to kick this upstairs to the London City council members for resolution.

Subject: Re: Have You No Shame?
Thank you for your note. The London Convention did not receive any pressure from outside groups regarding this event because we never had a contract to host this event. It is our understanding that this event is being held at another City of London owned venue that is more suited to the size and style required for this event.

LCC
Thank you for your prompt response. Are you stating for the record that the LCC did not have an agreement of any sort to rent your facility for a program by Mark Steyn? It was all just a misunderstanding?
Generally speaking, the ‘customer’ decides what is the best venue for their purposes and according to reports, they had selected the LCC. It was only after your refusal to rent that another venue was required and that perhaps due to the notariety generated by your refusal, a larger venue was needed. Someone is being disingenuous and I think it important that the public know whom that is. While you have no responsibility to me personally, the situation is damaging to your facility and to the taxpayers of London, Ontario and the matter should be cleared up as quickly as possible.
Was there an agreement to host the event? It’s a simple question.
We (unfortunately) need to use the same tactics used by the left in such matters. Badger, hound and demand answers from those who count.
To that end, I’ve sent the following to the Mayor and Councillors of London, Ont. Hopefully, as they feel the heat, they will put pressure on the low level bureaucrats who make these stupid decisons and they will find they are paying too high a price to be cavalier with our rights and freedoms.
I’ll post their e-addresses at the end, in case you’re inclined to do likewise. It’s push back time!
Dear Mayor DeCicco and Councillors;
You are likely aware of the national controversy arising from the business practices of the London Convention Centre and the concommitant restriction on freedom of speech regretably caused by their decision. According to Mr. Andrew Lawton, arrangements were made to book the Centre for a program by Mark Steyn who is an internationally syndicated columnist (including Canada’s own Mclean’s Magazine) and the author of numerous books.
Mr. Lawton says that his event was cancelled by the London Convention Centre, due to pressure from Muslim organizations/individuals and that the Centre’s administrators did not want to alienate that community. I quote:
“On Tuesday, I received a phone call from the LCC telling us that our venue had been pulled, and that Mark Steyn would not be permitted to speak there. The reason offered by the LCC was that they had received pressure from local Islamic groups, and they didn’t want to alienate their Muslim clients. ”
Yet looking at their events calendar, I see no Muslim related events booked whatsoever. It is bad enough when groups, individuals or organizations begin to self-censor for fear of offending the easily offended, but when they take steps to censor others – especially when government organizations, do so – it is beyond the pale. The Board of the Convention Centre has overstepped it’s boundaries and they must be held accountable.
As I wrote to the Board, I am a lifetime member of a national organization and frequently involved in convention planning. Our annual conventions are held everywhere, from Victoria to Saskatoon to Charlottetown. I can assure you that I will make my position known to not only our membership, but to all others within my sphere of influence, to let them know of this unconscionable situation and to urge them to book their future conferences in cities other than London, Ontario. My position has been reinforced by the response from Lori Da Silva of the Conference Center, who by way of reply to my e-mail said this:
“Thank you for your note. The London Convention did not receive any pressure from outside groups regarding this event because we never had a contract to host this event. It is our understanding that this event is being held at another City of London owned venue that is more suited to the size and style required for this event.”
Someone is being disingenuous if not untruthful in this matter and I would urge you to pursue the matter and make a public declaration of your position, since to do otherwise will be badly damaging to your Centre and to your city.
