  1. So hows that 5 year plan working out for you?
I recall visiting a little shop with a variety of Chinese goods replete with Cultural Revolution posters, Chairman Mao’s Little Red Book, Red Army caps sporting the red star, and of course the obligatory Che Guevara t-shirt.
The juggernaut chinese economy appears to be sputtering no worse than the US…less govt. more freedom.
When did Tom Friedman host any Chinese delegations?
Maybe Tom should invite Fidel instead…
    Communism does’nt work!
    Maoists lied, millions died…

…widely read liberal New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, who pointed out (twice in recent months) that despotism can be advantageous if “enlightened” tyrants (in this case, environmentalists) would run the show.
“One-party autocracy certainly has its drawbacks,” according to Friedman. “But when it is led by a reasonably enlightened group of people, as China is today, it can also have great advantages.”…

  3. It has been said that the last 10 years of China’s Growth has resulted in middle & upper class Wealth.., But that Construction worker wages have remained the SAME…It is an interesting oddity in a Communist closed system….The redistribution of wealth crap must stop when the Elite’s have absolute control. That would be consistent with accepted theory…The greenee folks have a wet dream
Tom Friedman sees the reality as Corruption and thinks he can take avantage of China.. NOT

  4. Is this what they call “Horns of a dilema”?
Have a job and be able to afford electricity that you can’t get … vs … no job and have electricity you can’t pay for. What would Suzuki do?

  5. Interesting that energy efficiency per unit of output is at best half of the US and I would assume Canada. And yet overall per capita energy consumption is much lower there. I guess all we need to do here is live like Chinese peasants to meet Tom’s expectations.

  6. As with all things, e.g. Pachauri’s and Goreacle’s heavy investment in cap-and-trade…follow the money.
