NY Times editorialists point their extended pinkies at Arizona from a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan:
“Arizona’s law is not a case of a state helping the federal government do a job it neglected.”
Is the NYT saying that the federal government has or has not been neglecting it’s job? Hard to tell.
“It is a radical upending of immigration priorities, part of a spiteful crusade to force a mass exodus of illegal immigrants…”
Okay, so Arizona is trying to kick out illegal immigrants, as part of a “spiteful crusade.” But what specific “immigration priority”, exactly, is Arizona “radically upending?” The immigration priority of turning a blind eye to illegal immigration?
“Arizona still has a governor, legislators and law officers determined to pursue immigration enforcement at any cost…”
Is there a cost, or a risk, to not enforcing immigration law? Yes – but only for the noble ruler class:
“President Obama took a big risk when he filed suit against the Arizona law and deserves credit for that. We hope he goes on to make clear to all the states that the Arizona way is not the American way.”
Securing the borders and enforcing federal immigration law is, all of a sudden, “not the American way.”

Why is enforcing the law spiteful?
How many refugees go through the motions and are granted residency in the US? Is the American government spiteful to them?
What rot!
They’re throwing the last bit of credibility overboard and praying for that media bailout. They’ll be the new Newsweek.
Illegal aliens are the only hope Mr Hopey and Changy has, without their vote Dear leader is going to be voted out of office.
What about the other 20 States that are following Arizona’s lead or are taking amicus positions in the lawsuit? They are all wrong too?
Bo is a puppet POTUS. He’s paying off the Dem crony profiteers who rely on cheep illegal laborers – and in the bargain creating a government dependent voting block for the future.
In any event, Washington’s and their media enablers are treasonous on this issue of border security. It has no lofty ideals at its core. At its core is pure evil exploitation of needy foreign people for crass economic and political reasons.
It gives me a sick feeling to see how far the insane radical-left concept of “one world, no borders” has infiltrated the supposed main stream. There’s some kind of a very modern world war going on, no doubt about it.
Watch for the executive order granting amnesty going around November 2011.
Brewer did the right thing because it made it an issue with profile. The Dems cant win on this issue in many key states.
This is THE wedge issue that GOP will drive. But watch for the double promise, that the border gets sealed but there will be no deportations. But right now the issue has to be sealing the border and finding a way to clarify the 14th ammendment because this isnt what is meant for.
Canada may do the same. We will see.
What would happen if Arizona simply ignored the feds and enforced the law anyway?
I’m not talking secession; I haven’t had much to drink so far today. I’m just musing about Arizona daring Obama to send the army in (is that what would have to happen?) to force a State to allow itself to be overrun by illegals in defiance of Federal and State law.
I’d be interested to see whether he has the cojones, quite frankly.
Arizona is going after the problem the wrong way; use the EPA regulations that now regulate CO2 emissions for any organization that emits more that 100 tons/year. All of those illegal Mexicans exhale CO2 and it doesn’t take that many illegal immigrants to be contributing more than 100 tons of CO2 to US airspace annually.
Arizona can use the EPA regulations fully supported by the big zero to deport all of those CO2 emitters back to Mexico. “Regulation” of the organizations that cause the CO2 to be emitted in the US might require the use of high velocity metal projectiles as well as the regulatory authority of the Arizona National Guard.
The tall forehead types in New York and especially the morons at the NYT deserve to have their Ground Zero mosque.
It should be fun to see if the NY construction workers will allow it to be built.
No progressives in the construction trades, just pragmatics.
“What would happen if Arizona simply ignored the feds and enforced the law anyway?”
Exactly what they should do. Just ignore the impotent federal bureaucracy.
If it’s wrong to send them back to Mexico, then give them a one-way ticket to NY.
Hmm.. if I carry a copy of the NYT article to the border next time we go shopping Buffalo, can I wave it in front of the border guard, and tell him what he’s doing is “not the American way”?
Osumashi Kinyobe asks: “How many refugees go through the motions and are granted residency in the US? Is the American government spiteful to them?”
Well yes actually, they are rather spiteful. Although less so to poor Mexicans with zero job skills than they are to Canadian professionals with jobs waiting for them in the USA. The INS is profoundly screwed up and has been for a very long time.
As to the New York Slimes though, I think we should just assume that for them, whatever Obama says is “The American Way”. Any disagreement with Dear Leader is in fact unAmerican and probably treasonous.
May their bankruptcy be long and excruciating, and may Pinch Sultzburger emerge from it penniless.

[…..Hmm.. if I carry a copy of the NYT article to the border next time we go shopping Buffalo, can I wave it in front of the border guard, and tell him what he’s doing is “not the American way”? ….]
You already know the answer to that.
You will be promptly returning back across the bridge to Canada.
REFUSED!
EBD I see something bigger at play here. Increasingly the left feels that the laws and rules of the land can simply be ignored when it suits their cause.
So even though there are laws against illegal immigration, they are ignored by the left. Likewise, Al Gore and the Google Boys will lecture you about limiting your consumption of fossil fuels, before stepping into their private jets.
There are laws regarding drugs, but in Vancouver you can inject yourself with heroine while sitting on the sidewalk and the police will not arrest you.
There are laws against corruption, but if you are a black politician they don’t always apply.
There are laws against discrimination, but they get nixed if the discrimination is in the form of affirmative action, the crazy justification being to fix so-called past wrongs.
If you are a native indian you can break any law you want and you won’t be touched.
And so forth. It’s a growing problem in my view.
And nobody is stating the obvious: While the Obama administration advocates for practically zero immigration rules for Mexicans, sucker Canadians are subjected to the strictest rules in our history for merely visiting the U.S. And if Canadians merely enter US airspace while flying somewhere overseas(without actually landing in the US) then the US demands criminal checks on Canadian passengers.
I wonder what would happen if a Canadian dared to try to immigrate to the US? Or how about if we crossed the border illegally, would the US promise not to arrest us or check our ID’s?
KevinB, “if I carry a copy of the NYT article to the border next time we go shopping Buffalo”.
That is so wrong. You have to say “I’m going to Arizona”,to be allowed through quickly. Maybe,if you are resourceful enough, you might even pick up some Buffalo shopping money.
sasquatch:
Honestly, I don’t think I’d be returning across the bridge all that soon. I think there’d be a small matter of an extensive cavity search first…
Nice how the feds don’t care about the kidnapping capital of the USA.
Who cares what the illegals put the people through.
Still ancient Rome had immigration and it served them well. Or did it help them fall,
Still who wouldn’t want to live like they do in Mehico,
“Law Enforcement” is the great enabler for this sewage. In spite of their oath of office to “…preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution…”, they instead bow and scrape before their Masters and then do whatever they’re told. Be sure to thank them appropriately for what they’ve done to this country. As for me, I thank God every time he removes another of them from office.
does anybody see how the first war waged is the propaganda war?
they ALL do it.
It should be fun to see if the NY construction workers will allow it to be built.
No progressives in the construction trades, just pragmatics. ”
well Fred, a possible peek at what is to come was in a link posted on SDA years ago. a bunch of malcontent muzzies were having a media event in tranna and when their keynote speaker took the bullhorn, from across the street came that penetrating ear drum blasting CLANG CLANG CLANG of a heavy hammer repeatedly striking a large I-beam.
can anybody verify this?
ICE’s Mission Melt: Agents Vote ‘No Confidence’ in Leadership
http://www.cis.org/kephart/ICE-mission-melt-1
The Man Child has a huge problem….of course everyone Knows that Janet Nap was the Governor of Arizona that was building SUN Shelters for the Illegal Aliens.. She & ICE Director John Morton are winners
Things are moving to fast for NYT
AZ should double down and start building the wall on its own dime. What’ll the NYT say about that?
Philip G. Shaw, thanks for that link. This is very interesting to say the least. When 7000 agents of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council unanimously vote on a no confidence motion in their director you have a very big problem on your hands. These agents have basically been told to ignore the presence of illegal criminal aliens on US soil which is a violation of US law (almost like the situation in Canada where criminal aliens never get deported although I think we call them traumatized refugees here).
Once Fox News gets hold of this story it will be interesting to see how B0 tries to justify the situation.
How they got ICE out of an acronym that really should be NICEC baffles me.
I am sure the NYT will not be troubled if a few divisions of the US Army migrate south.
Thanks for that 12:10 link, Phillip – pretty amazing. I’m surprised that it’s not bigger news at Drudge, etc.

I’ve been thinking about that very thing this last little while. If a herd of Canadians dress up like Mexicans, sporting sombreros, playing brass instruments, etc., and rushed the border at several locations, do ya think we’d get through? Might be fun to do it with the media in tow, just to point out the hypocrisy.
EBD, that was beautiful Man.
It’s a fight now for Democrat control. What’s at stake here is 15 Million Democrat Votes, and with the Democrat controlled states legislating away the electorial college it could spell the doom for the Republic. The NYT got one thing right; Arizona will be the catalyst.
Comon November.
,
What I find most interesting is that opponents (who never read the bill) claimed that it punished the workers instead of employers. The court upheld only the punishments on the employers.
The most cynical thing that could be said of this law is that is was political in nature and only to get more money from the feds to help with their budget deficit. Racism? Hardly. Calling it racist is only an admission that Hispanics are the largest part of the problem. I’m sure there are illegal Chinese, Vietnamese, Irish, British, Africans and Australians in Arizona.
Wonder where the ICE recruits their people? Do they use the same method the TSA is currently using:
Pizza boxes?!?.
