Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Angler fish? I don’t even know ‘er!
Blessed art thou amongst women, Kate, and blessed is the fruit of….SDA. Verily, the redoubtable Barbara Kay (pboh) seems to have these most fishy biological firmaments figured out as well, and has ventured forth in a typing motion armed with this knowledge.
A touching anecdote: about five years ago I was happily reclined in a hotel room in a foreign city luxuriating in one of those paternity test shows on Maury, which I’d never seen before. One dark-skinned fellow who was the owner of a small business swore, pre-results, that he was not the father of the baby. His assertion was that the father could be anyone, inasmuch as the woman had slept with every male within a thousand miles. The woman in question and her mother were undeterred, however, and massively abused the fellow for not owning up to his financial obligations.
Here’s the real urine slicer: when the DNA test results showed that he was NOT the father, the mother and daughter actually *redoubled their abuse* – I’m not even slightly kidding – in some utterly inchoate but apparently fulsomely justified way; they didn’t stop yelling at him as he walked off the set.
I remember being utterly unable to parse the nature of natural justice that was being envisioned by the entitled duo.
Multiple gonads indeed. She and her huge, vicious and capable Mom were evidently there to “f*** some s*** up.”
EBD — somehow I don’t think it was *justice* (natural, or otherwise) that they were after to begin with.
Few people are.

after reading that I am afraid to comment.
please don’t hurt me.
Sounds like Tiger’s soon-to-be ex. Granted, she does deserve some $$$ but 3/4 of a billion? She could single-handedly bail out Greece for that change.
Unlike the poor angler fish, human males are blessed with the giant brain and the opposable thumb. We can therefore spot which females are going to be trouble and keep it zipped around them.
Problem is, these days -most- females seem intent on being trouble. Toronto for example simply teems with spinners who can’t balance a checkbook or boil an egg, but are devoted Useful Idiots and want you to be one too. I can only imagine Vancouver.
My advice, consider the import models. They didn’t go to Canadian schools, so right there you know they can count at least.
Was this an allegory for Sarah Palin and the RINOs?
i think i recognized my first wife….
Has anyone watched how the girls and their mothers act when Robert Pattinson or Justin Bieber hits town or, in my day when the Beatles came to America? Or for that matter any hockey player, celebrity, musician etc. etc. I’ve always wondered just where the barrier to women’s lib actually lies.
Phantom;
“We can therefore spot which females are going to be trouble and keep it zipped around them.”
In theory. Doesn’t work so well in practise.

We have the ability. Do we have the will?
Guess I’m screwed too…..
This fish could have been named the Micheal Ignatiaf fish. As they are both destined to lose at every turn.

What barrier?
Ever heard of:
-having your cake and eating it too?
-it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind?
Ah yes one often finds the female being the dominant gender in the lower life forms 😉
Why isn’t the CBC fighting this injustice, I demand taxes be raised and more government workers hired!
Curious. An exception to the general western concept of female help mate and love slave.
Could someone be hoping for a change in general trends?
Gus said: “We have the ability. Do we have the will?”
Yes, as long as there’s no beer involved. If there’s beer, all bets are off. That’s the major cause of bob c’s observation, IMHO.
Beer alone or women alone are excellent. Beer -and- women is a disaster. Leads to the problem known in emergency medicine circles as the “coyote syndrome”.
That’s when some guy wakes up on Saturday morning in a strange bed, rolls over and takes a look at what’s lying on his arm, and realizes he’d sooner chew it off than wake her up. AaawwOOOOOO-ow-ow-ow-woooooooo!
“An exception to the general western concept of female help mate and love slave.”
I really do feel badly for you if you honestly believe this.
Sheesh. Women wonder why Men don’t want to Marry anymore?
I know this story first hand …
I recall somebody asking me my impression of marriage—after I was separated—I think the fool expected despondency….
My reply:
It was somewhat like hitting myself over the head with a hammer—it felt so good when it stopped.
