Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle

I guess Rodriguez didn’t want to be accused of being a blow hard.
He didn’t have a CBC reporter there to blow for him.
As a slimy opportunistic alarmist who never misses an opportunity to bash oil production in western Canada he has proven his ability to suck. This admission that he can not blow properly comes as a surprise. Perhaps Ignotathief could give him some personal lessons, or since Pablo has his head so far up Michael Ignotathief’s butt he can see Goodale perhaps he should ask Ralph for blow lessons.
Gee, press bias? How can this be? Isn’t the CBC investigating itself to make sure this kind of thing doesn’t happen?
And say, didn’t Iggy promise he was going to run the most moral party -ever-?
Maybe one of the trolls can explain all this to us. After they stop hiding under the bed.
How do I contact Shaidle? Someone is stealing her thunder…
A conservative too!

Elitists have no shame;they don’t need shame because nothing they do is wrong. How could it be, they’re the elite?
It’s not about “standards”, double or single. As I’ve repeated ad nauseam, the federal Liberals could run a douche or a turd-sandwich and they’d still maintain their core support.
Because its not news when Liberals do it. Its just natural.
CBC is telling Canadians… we will cover for the Liberals in or out of government. Easy to see how Canadians were kept in the dark during the sponsorship years.
Of course Pablo gets a free ride from the media. Given his conduct in the Mulroney/Shreiber “investigation” where he acted as a puppet for the CBC, asking their questions for them,he has already demonstrated that he is a CBC or media shill, so they will protect him. Let’s hope that he is not going to be one of the MPs given access to documents concerning Afghanistan!! I can see the “sources tell us” stories now….
“There was no violation of CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices,” he writes.”
Of course not. When you have no standards, how can you violate them?
A search of cbc news online revealed 5 hits on ‘Rodriguez breathalyzer’, and it looks like just one story repeated in five places.
Compare that to a search of ‘Guergis cocaine’ and 24/7 coverage.
No bias at cbc at all.

[…Because its not news when Liberals do it. Its just natural.]
Yeah! That was my initial reaction too.
What would you expect?
The CBC still hasn’t even acknowledged Climategate, let alone reported on their scandalous non-coverage of that story.
They have to protect Liberals & Dippers . . . they need all the political support they can shill for.
“In his report, meanwhile, the CBC ombudsman says the broadcaster is not biased….” and we’re from the government and we’re to help you, and your cheque is in the mail!
Carlin exonerates the CBC while accusing the Conservatives of starting a Culture War. He says “Mr Finley uses the same (Culture War) device with the rather paranoia-tinged ‘powerful array of vested interests’ allegedly opposing the party” in his letter to Conservative supporters.
Carlin is no bureaucrat. He is a politician (as are all management at the CBC). He will say anything to keep the CBC at the status quo. This political spin took seven long baffling pages of admitting to nothing while slamming 800 Conservative supporters.
The hard core left will never hold itself to the same standards it demands of others.
It’s the core reason the left wing ideologies are degenerate, they are premised on the big lie of do as I say not as I do.
I think the CBC should hire New as their Ombudsman.
As New’s recent post is as understandable as anything coming out of the present Ombudsman’s office.
Why even have this topic? Because we all know in the liberal eyes that this case is different & would never go anywhere in the realms of the msm, Regardless what he did Why? Because he is a Liberal.
To understand the CBC, you must know this. Everything the CBC does is for one purpose. That purpose is to hold onto their annual $1.3 Billion of taxpayer’s subsidy. Their subsidy comes from political decisions, which makes the CBC a political organization.
They must know that in this multi-channel and internet age, they have no reason to exist. To be balanced would be to end or cut their subsidy. Their only choice now is to use their massive subsidy to demonize conservatives and Conservatives. They are a desperate lot with no purpose left except for holding onto their entitlements.
Gag me with a spoon, CBC judge jury and executioner of all things anti-conservative. Why don’t we rename CBC to the Canadian Liberal Broadcasting Shitehole? Oh Ombudsman, how’s CBC’s ratings these days?
Things that make you go “hmmm.”
If you enter the search term “michael bryant case” into Dogpile, you get a full page of relevant returns, some of which Dogpile managed to find on Google. I wonder how that works.
Dogpile is a search engine aggregator, and I have it set up as my primary search engine in Firefox. Google is is basically evil, and I won’t use it by choice.
Al the thawing fish @ 11:59: “I think the CBC should hire New as their Ombudsman.”
====================
I think they already have.
You did not really expect Pablo to get the same treatment as Jaffir and Guergis from the CBC or Globe?
The CBC and the CRU have the same self reviewing mentality.
Dodo Has an excellent post up equating the CBC bias with that of the BBC. Sorry for the length of the link, but I don’t know how to shorten it.
http://dodocanspell.blogspot.com/2010/05/cbcs-twin-in-uk-under-bloggers.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DodoCanSpell+%28Dodo+Can+Spell%29
“CBC’s twin in UK under bloggers’ microscope
This is a “must read” guideline that a blog has published on how to make BBC bias-free. Just read the word “BBC” as “CBC” instead, and we have an effective guideline for our own biased TV station as well. Also, there’s a link within the main link to an article by the outspoken Daniel Hannan. Another “must read” and it will prove to you that I am on the mark when I state that CBC’s twin resides in UK.
….The BBC has been corrupted and is now misusing its immense power to manipulate its news output in order to influence political situations.”
As the saying goes: some are more equal than others.
The original story at CBC notes that the ‘open and transparent’ Pablo sat on the charge for a month, and then released it on a Friday afternoon when the house was not due to sit the following week. Also ,Mr. Ignatieff was aware of the charge, but no one at the CBC has yet to ask him when he was told of the charge. I am awaiting for MADD’s response,I am sure it will be forthcoming, also. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2010/05/14/mtl-rodriguez-charges.html
One more thing, about Grave’s non-bias. Last week’s analysis of the polling results was heavily centred on the split between women and men. I checked a few from a month or so ago,and that was not the case. Is this just a coincidence that the Liberals are now demonizing the Conservatives over non-existent women’s issues?
clicked on link to “CBC’s sh*t doesn’t stink” link and read the byline: Jane Tabor. The circle remains unbroken.
Graves is not biased, Pablo has no blow power, all’s tickety-boo and perking right along in the land of OZ and Iggy/Ziffy/Iffy. There’s something so different about a Liberal who gets charged with a traffic violation, just doesn’t have the same sting.
And of course we all remember B.C. NDP MP Svend Robinson who was caught stealing a $55,000 piece of jewellery on the security cameras in a jewellery store.
His explanation was that he was “depressed”. Of course. And when most people get depressed it’s often a toss-up between ensconsing oneself in the back of a bar and tying on a good drunk, or planning a jewellery heist. I’ve often been confronted by the same indecision myself.
But the killer was when Svend actually succeeded in whipping up quite a bit of sympathy for himself and it appeared that he may actually continue as an MP. The image of the poor sensitive Gay man who “got depressed” very nearly overshadowed the fact that the guy was a jewellery thief. It would have been the height of political correctness gone insane: criminal guilt or innocence determined by how one uses one’s penis.
Like everyone else I’m not surprised that a Librano agent disguised as an ombudsman thinks the CBC is just fine and in no way are they bias, blah , blah, blah. Gravy @ the CBC admits he gave the Librano$ advice on manufacturing a “cultural war” in order for the Librano$ to “get back to power”, but that doesn’t show any bias…hmmm, nice. “Jaffergate”, Guergisgate” but no Pablogate, or Albert Appsgate, no bias there either. The CBC ombudsman and the CBC Librano apologists can go Fife themselves.
Kate, when I try to open your link re Michael Bryant, this is the message I’m getting: “Your search – ‘michael bryant case’ – did not match any documents.” Did you send too much traffic there and it’s now closed down?
As for the CBC exonerating itself, you just shake your head and pray: FIRE. THEM. ALL. (Please, Thor, send a thunderbolt …)
Vince Carlin, the CBC Ombudstoadie, is a former CBC employee, for crying out loud. Sure he’s going to slap them on the wrist and tell them to smarten up and provide balanced reporting on issues of importance to all Canadians (the CBC’s mandate, BTW). Right?
WRONG … again, and again, and again.
All these guys know is the left side of the planet and anyone not conforming to their view of things isn’t worth the trouble to listen to. They just marginalize us, as they’ve been doing for years, and surrender-monkey-wimp-all-I-want-is-for-everyone-to-be-nice-and-get-along Canadians, have played right along.
Good G*d Canada’s in trouble.
Since Treudeau’s second campaign I have been trying to figure out: Is the CBC the propaganda arm of the Liberal Party or is the Liberal Party the political arm of the CBC?
Many years, batb, decades in fact.
Same results for me at Michael Bryant.

batb and dlm…
the results at Google actually prove Kate’s point….
dlm: “Many years, batb, decades in fact.”
Yup, like you, dlm, I’ve been taking on the CBC for decades — over three to be exact — and it’s still the same. They insist that they have “journalistic integrity” and that they provide balanced coverage of issues of importance to all Canadians (their mandate, in fact).
I haven’t believed them for years.
I agree with you, bluetech: I suspect that the site’s been shut down because Kate has sent so many bloggers their way. Leftist “progressives” really dislike scrutiny.
Rose: The CBC ratings will last as long as the playoffs last. Not that the latte sipping Eloi will show any gratitude to us Morlocks.
