60 Replies to “Y2Kyoto: Turn Down Your Thermostat Or The Puppy Gets It”

  1. So there are monsters after all and it turns out they are mommy and daddy!
What chance does a kid have nowadays?

  2. Can someone with video talent please please please PLEASE make a reply to this farce of an ad with one showing CO2 as anaturally occurring clean clear odorless gas that helps plants grow bigger stronger faster?

  3. The warmers/PETA seek to snuff people AND puppies. Remember the PETA people caught picking up strays at shelters to be adopted (for a fee) and then needling them and disposing of them in dumpsters?
Seems to me the enviro-nuts seldom have pets….
    Mark Twain said…
“I have no use for neither man nor boy who has never had an understanding with a pup.”

  4. Eventually, there may be some good come out of this mother-of-all-frauds.
    – In the future, Politicians will come under more intense scrutiny.
    – It will be a long time before the media is trusted again.
    – Scientists will have to be worth their pay.
    – Professors will face a very skeptical student.
    – A disgraced public school system will face competition.
    – The public has learned that Cult Leaders will use any tool available to them – even the weather.
    Lots of downsides, though.
    – Worthy environmentalists will not have an easy time of it because of the broad brush stain.
    – Duped school children will be bitter for a long time.
    – Billion$ wasted on flawed science and fraudulent energy schemes.
    – Thousands, millions even, will face middle age with no career and no prospects. (Imagine having ‘I worked for Gore and Suzuki on your resume’ !!)

  5. And here in deficit ridden Alberta we have Ed our very own saviour going to spend 2.5 billion saving us, from evil carbon, by “secastration” of the Alberta tax-payer. No money for hospital long term beds, no money for chiropractor visits for the working man, but Ed ponys up for Gorrys BIG SCAM 2.5 billion. What an embarrasment this whole money theft has been for mankinds thinkers, but good for the theives amongst us. You are so correct Ron, we havn’t heard from John Cross and the other global warming Jonestownists for a long time. -22 here on October 10 in southern Alberta.

  6. If people think there is a problem with the mental and emotional stability of people today, these kind of commercials will grow the problem exponentially tomorrow.
I pray I raise my 2 girls properly to fight ignorance and challenge ones beliefs.

  7. Not quite as toxic as Jimmy Jones’ Kool Aid (although contextually about the same relationship to reality) but child abuse none the less. It seems that when it is mass hysteria as opposed to a small group or individual, it is socially acceptable.
Ron, you are optimistic in that you predict justice for these fraud perps. I predict that they will, without a trace of humility, move on to the next contrived crisis. I would like to see Al Gore bet his entire worldly fortune on the climate warming measurably over the next 5 or 10 years. He would never do that any more then he would take up his long standing invitation to debate the issue with Steve Milloy.

This is the truth. Just look at the whole DDT episode. Millions dead, and no one — NO ONE — brought to account.

  9. I think the “grown-ups had to do something” bit was supposed to actually mean something.
Pillory me, but scaring children has never been a goal of enlightened societies.

  10. Chuckles for lunacy galore, but there were only 319 views of that fairy tale video when I checked, possibly from many of your readers.
To the sure regret of the author of the fairy tale, many more hilarious cartoons about “The Sky is Falling” can be found at youtube.
However for scientific research on “global warming” or “climate change” I refer your readers to Friends of Science:
    http://www.friendsofscience.org/

  11. There are 319 views on Youtube, AEK, but it’s not a Youtube release, it’s a U.K. television ad that targets the concerns of parents and those members of the general public people who don’t regularly go to WAWT or friendsofscience – 99 percent of the population, in other words. Such ads, in conjunction with TV *news coverage* are part of a de facto campaign to elicit public support for a giant money-transfer scheme.
This is a propaganda/political issue, not a scientific one, so those who yawn away the matter on the basis that the science of AGW is speculative at best, and fraudulent at worst, are sort of missing the point; Science isn’t what motivates the Al Gores or the night-of-the-living-dead enviro-whack-jobs, and the western governments who rely on the electorate in order to stay in power only care, obviously, about what the public believes, because that’s their job.
The ad is not just disgusting, it’s eerie, because it’s like watching a real-life ministry of misinformation and propaganda. Just the latest installment, I know, but it’s grotesque, this notion of “If you love your kids, you’ll support a giant internationalist money-transfer scam.” The real-world implication of such violently mawkish propaganda is that your neighbours who have a different view than you on account of their actually being aware of the fraudulent science behind it are living, breathing apostates who are a peril to your family and your children.

  12. Youtube always gets hung up at the 300 or so view mark.
It is now almost 2400. Nice to see it is maintaining a one star rating.

  13. Nothing like a little fear mongering with the kids. When I was that age, all I had to worry about was the boogey man.

  14. It is stated that in the future, historians would look back at this time wondering what the fuss was all about. Unfortunately, the history books will be re-written before then to explain how the goreacle saved the planet by turning us all into socialist/fascist serfs.
The best way to fight back is to stop — or at least minimise as much as possible — doing business with any entity that subscibes to this garbage. And, let them know that you are ceasing to do business with them and why.

  15. Classic old marketing technique. When you can’t convince the adults or when the product is flawed in some way, aim your pitch at the kids and let them whine and fret until the adults do something. As for me, I’d be turning off the TV, if I had one.

  16. Poll after poll suggests adults, in North America at least, aren’t buying it. I wonder if we could orchestrate a massive show of protesters carrying placards like the 9/12 bunch did. We need to get the attention of the politicians before they throw any more of our hard earned tax dollars down the vortex.

  17. Harper was right . . . the whole thing is socialist plot to suck money out of western economies to help the 3rd world.
“Kevin Libin: Copenhagen plan could wreck global economy”
For a global gathering ostensibly designed to harness international ingenuity to arrest global warming, the United Nations Copenhagen Climate Conference at least has a fitting name. The website advertising UNCC seems to fit the bill, too, with the requisite photos of spewing smokestacks, parched landscapes and natural disasters juxtaposed with wind turbines and adorable penguins.
All the more odd, then, that the draft treaty being proposed for the December meeting devotes roughly as much of its text to new foreign aid programs as it does to a plan to reduce greenhouse gases.”
    Kevin Libin NAILS it.

  18. All three of my daughters(22, 18 and 15)have stated that the only counter to the whole AGW thing in their life is me.
They are all little greenie’s, but at least they do not subscribe to the doom and gloom, and I have encouraged them to ask questions.
As far as their teachers and friends are concerned though…….damn enviro-nazis.
Maybe it is time that us deniers came out of the closet and held simultaneous “denier’s pride parades” (leave the groping to the other “pride” parades).

  19. Snowing here in Thunder Bay this morning. Yep, gotta love that AGW! If someone reminds me that it’s “climate change”, they may lose an eye. Heck give Obama the Peace Prize but shouldn’t Gore have to give back the Science? Prize? They could give it to the guy who found the cure for maldives.

  20. So, what the H*ll was this father and daughter doing in an upper-middle class home, with lights on and all the mod-cons? Aren’t they a big part of the so-called problem?
What dimwits these twits are. All the media/ad people are living way beyond most of the general population’s carbon footprint and they have the NERVE to tell the rest of us to pull back and conserve???
I don’t usually talk this way, but F-THEM.

  21. Not to worry. It’s getting to the point where 5-year-olds are generally smarter than your average leftie “grown-ups”

  22. A well put together ad with a salient message. Thanks. I’ll make sure our local schools are aware of it and hence may incorporate it into their curriculum section dealing with climate change.

  23. Fraud perpeTraitors of the past were able to move on without humiliation because the media lives by fraudulent news reporting. I think it will be a different story in the Internet age. Too many people were publicly revealing the truth for too many years for anyone to plead ignorance.

  24. Fred: “Harper was right . . . the whole thing is socialist plot to suck money out of western economies to help the 3rd world.”‘
One need only to have listened to Nicholas Stern on Alan Gregg last evening to know that this is true — AGW is all about taking your money and giving it to someone else. I only hope that Harper is able to successfully and sufficiently resist the forces of Copenhagen, and that Canadians would understand that this is the only reasonable thing to do.

  25. From their website.
Two companies 1) Asda and 2) Tesco support these freaks, never buy anything from them.

  26. The only problem with the story is that it did not begin with ‘once upon a time’, like all fairy tails should.

  27. Wow, that really hits a nerve with me. How despicable and disgusting. All the promoters of this false doctrine should be brought up on fraud charges and thrown in the clink.

  28. Well the positive is this may cause some parents to take the kid to a bookstore or library and reduce ‘toob time. You know get the kid outside into the world. See which one they choose.

  29. These people are vile.CO2 is essential for mankind to survive and these twits want to limit it.I equate them with the Brits that taxed salt in India and made it a crime to evaporate their own.Ghandi made a trek to the sea, which every step was resisted by the Brits, evaporated sea water, and with that small step, paved the way for the independence of India.

  30. If the Nobel Messiah had his way, we would all be off to his peaceful re-education camps.
Yes, our kids are getting hit with this diatribe from all angles, at school. And, yes, it seems it is only us parents, that can give them that balance, that this is not the crisis the leftards want it to be!

  31. I’d ask the kiddies how big they want their mud huts to be,and how many scrawny chickens they plan on slaving to get to feed themselves. It would be almost interesting to come back in 200 hundred years to see what crap the world is in. I figure pre-pre-historic.

  32. Disgusting, but harmless. The only message is to stop wasting energy. No mention of carbon capture, or shutting down the oilsands, or building windmills. They’ll be too busy shivering in the dark to do any real damage.

  33. Another bedtime story – Tell the kids there will be no Santa Claus any more because the government decided to fight imaginary monsters instead … and kids are bad because they breath.

  34. well the UK are likely one of the first “under the sea” when GW goes off! Eh
so maybe we should really be eating more beans?
    imo

  35. Having read the Ken Lubin article referenced above in the Nat’l. Post today, the sentence that sticks out to me indicates the $75 – 100Billions the West is to pay in “reparations” to the developing countries each year under Copenhagen, is to flow thru the sticky fingers of the U.N. Yeah right! Oil for Food writ large.
