Miss Mogahed, appointed to the President’s Council on Faith-Based and Neighbourhood Partnerships, said the Western view of Sharia was “oversimplified” and the majority of women around the world associate it with “gender justice”.
The White House adviser made the remarks on a London-based TV discussion programme hosted by Ibtihal Bsis, a member of the extremist Hizb ut Tahrir party.
The group believes in the non-violent destruction of Western democracy and the creation of an Islamic state under Sharia Law across the world.

I am sure “Frontier Justice” is misunderstood as well. Maybe there should be an advisor for that one to…and perhaps a commission on how it can be implemented and some money to promote its acceptance…oh and maybe some more money for rope.

Sorry Kate, my reactions got to me, been a rough week for Democracy.
Sharia law IS misunderstood – especially by the mud flaps that claim to be the authors of it.
Classical Sharia is actually fair and just if you take the obvious problems with its treatment of women and non-moslems out of it.
You do the crime – you pay the penalty…and right away too. There is no room for plea bargains, no endless appeals, and few loop holes.
Contrast that with our own liberal law that allows murderers to kill people without spending a day in jail – and we are in no position to look down our noses at other law systems. We need provisions in our own law for capital punishment, we need to stop coddling criminals and start punishing them, and the liberals that infest our judiciary have to be removed. Our own law system has numerous flaws of its own and I don’t blame moslems one bit for dismissing it with contempt.
Dalia Mogahed answers were very clever. Explaining the results of gallup poll she said that Muslim women think that values such as liberty, democracy and gender equality are not really Western values but that they are universal values which Western countries only have done good job of implementing. On the other hand she told the viewers that Muslim women think that promiscuity, pornography and moral decay are exclusively Western values. To stress her point she gave examples of two Muslim women who think that women in the west are disrespected by men and that western women social status is lacking.
It seems that according to Dalia Mogahed majority of Muslim women, and perhaps she herself, think that what is good in the West is not really Western but what is bad in the West is exclusively Western.
Not only Dalia Mogahed did not disagreed with this kind of opinions, she also did not disagreed with the statement that sharia should be the ruling law for the Muslims. According to her even some Muslims do not have clear understanding of sharia which probably explain all bad things going on under Taliban and as to stress this point she said that west does not now much about Islam, as if that explained everything.
It seems that Dalia is one of many persons Obama put in the important positions in his government which should not be there at all.
