No doubt by now, you’ve all seen the famous Youtube video of the three boys shooting ducks off season. Two arrests were made today, the headlines claim they are from the Saskatoon area.
While I realize that the boys acted foolishly,
why was that video being transmitted by CBC on National TV? Of course the producer at CBC in Toronto has never seen a flock of ducks devour a durum or barley field, so I assume his love of ducks is somewaht different than mine.
How convenient for the eastern Liberal anti gun factor.
Question: Of the thousands of videos that are downloaded on Youtube, many that depict borderline insanity, why pick on Saskatchewan??
Needless to say, when I tried to voice my opinion on CBC.ca, I was refused.

The duck population has become way too high, because of publicly funded programs, to benefit American duck hunters. Now farmers are paying the price, in lost crops. The whole concept of hunting seasons should not apply to people protecting their lives, or their livelyhoods.
Joe Citizen- This is just another nail in the coffin of Canadian freedom. Some poor landowner just got charged for shooting a stray dog, on his land. It’s always been a given, that stray dogs, threatening livestock, are fair game. Turns out, it was a police dog. Some careless cop let his dog run loose, and now, someone else has to suffer for it.
Every time a stupid decision like that takes place, it sets a dangerous precedent. If it weren’t for the revenue generated by hunting licenses, it wouldn’t take long for the government to ban hunting, entirely.

Having said that, it’s well known that serial killers usually show warning signs, one of which is cruelty to animals, so it’s wise to find out what these kids are about.
I finally watched the video of the duck murderers. Turns out they weren’t kids. They were twenty something city guys, who’d never shot anything before. And, those weren’t real ducks, they were scaups. Scaups are not game birds, so the hunting regulations shouldn’t come into play.
There were several laws broken. Firing a rifle over water is illegal. Firing a rifle from a road is illegal. Firing a rifle within 20 meters of a motor vehicle is illegal. Killing a mud duck is minor compared to these charges.
The guys in the video looked as excited as someone who just shoot a trophy elk. They aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, and they need some education in firearm safety, but killing that mud duck is not a major crime.
