I can’t stand how all the leaders of the left decry our erroding pensions, complain about the stock market plunging, etc. etc….it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The stock market has zero to do with Harper. Is he supposed to just decree that the stock market is only allowed to go up from now on?
To all those who are complaining about their pensions and want something done about it, its just more feelings of entitlement from my generation. When you choose RRSP investments, you’re given options as to what percentage you want to be stock and what percentage to be fixed income equity.
Since the stock market generally posts much better returns over the years than money market funds and other such fixed income equities, they usually throw alot of money into higher risk investments. They are reaping their rewards…I know I certainly have, and its not fun, but such is life. My only sympathy is for those caught at this time who are attempting to retire and take some of their money out of their retirement savings.

Question, Dion and Layton are going to protect pensions. What pensions are they talking about, the lucrative MP pensions?
My pension is in RRSPs. No government pork barrel. RRSPs fluctuate with the markets. How will these guys protect my pension so it gets the appropriate growth that I will need come retirement time?

I noticed the producers would occasionally show us the info on a computer screen re: callers on the ‘waiting list’ and how they would answer his question:What do you want to see happen on election day?
He was gracious enough to let an occasional different opinion be aired. The view of the computer screen revealed most callers favour CPC majority.
