Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Kate, even I think the resemblence to Nuremburg is a stretch. You could still make fun of him for thinking he’s a Greek god or something, though.
guess there’s more than one way to get a crowd of Germans cheering in delirious delight
How about the Parthenon

Clever usurpation of Godwin’s law.
The narcissism of moonbats is astounding.

Fred:
Well considering that InBev the Belgium company just bought out Anheuser-Busch (or is that Anheuser-BUSH?) perhaps a rousing cheer of “BEER UBER ALLES” would do the trick?
This is probably the real reason the Germans invaded Belgium; and her name was ‘Stella’ Artois.
Also we must keep in mind that our prospective POTUS was also dearly wanting to make some Brandenburg Gate speeches in Berlin recently!
Hey and we just finished the TOTALITARIAN Olympics!
Then we get Tom Cruise to show up in his “von Stauffenburg” Luftwaffe uniform to complete the Hollywood movie ensemble.
And while we are all “Biden” our time, having a sit down foreign policy chat, with Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad we can dream up the “Obama-Nation”(tm) at a circus near you.
This global farce stuff just writes itself, but don’t call me “Meier”.
“wenn nur eine Bombe auf Berlin fällt heisse ich Meier”
Some might describe this as “Hermann”eutics, but then I have had no other theoretical interpretations offered thus far.

Shhh! Shouldn’t make fun of it until fait accompli; he’s already rethinking the idea after listening in to all the mockery.
Let the O have his temple and adoring crowds — so it can be used as fodder by the other side!
Let the man beat himself; it may be the only thing that will turn the tide of this election (and judging from what he’s done so far, I definitely think that needs to happen).
Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson (who’s she) shouldn’t just be singing the national anthem.
She should be joined by a choir so they can belt out the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
This seems nothing short of the Second Coming.
BTW, just an observation: Jill Biden, Joe’s wife, seems lest than enthralled by all the goings-on. She looks like a lady of taste, so I can only imagine what all the tasteless hoopla is doing for her digestion, discernable in her pained facial expression.
I can just see the thought bubble coming out of her head: “Four years of THIS? Please, God, help us lose. Four MONTHS is about all I can stand.”
Unknown Jane — my sentiments exactly. Obama’s stage produced campaign continues to reach new heights of absurdity.
The campaign is all glitz, all Hollywood. From my perspective, were I an American voter, I’d be quite off-put by the whole spectacle.
I say, “keep it up” Barrack. You and your handlers are your own worst enemies at the moment.
The McCain people keep saying that Obummer is nothing but a rock star celebrity and they are absolutely correct. O needs to resonate with white middle class America and he is simply not doing that. This kind of “celebrity” show is going to turn off more and more voters as time goes on. It is quite remarkable that during this Democratic convention, the “bounce” that always goes to the party’s nominee is actually going to the other party. It is looking more and more like Obummer is on a slippery slope that will see McCain taking the oath of office.
Q. What’s worse than four days of this?
A. Four more years of McCainBush neglect

Hilarious, the Empty Suit now an Empty Toga. The little moron has a Zeus complex.
I guess the Dems have never dabbled in our Founding Fathers attitudes or de Tocqueville’s definitive observation about Americans. We don’t like royal pageantry, royal courts, colonial empires, emperial edicts or pompous personalities. Cowboy hats and baseball caps are a comforting sight to most of us. We like to see our Presidents in them on occasion. The stupidity of this bizarre tableau is beyond belief. This isn’t going to play well at Biff’s Barbeque which means it’s going down hard.
I’m grateful to my Canadian conservative counterparts who will be watching this tonight so I don’t have to. There is only so much of the Obama epic that one can take without throwing up.

Rumour has it that Urkel is going to throw some evil joos and Christians to the lions to curry favour and more votes from the leftists.
It will probably work too….
ahahahahahahhahaaahahahaa (inhale) AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (wipe away tears) Maybe the dems will leave it, so that the victorious republicans can blow it up in spectacular fashion (as the old U.S. Army films).
Still think folks around here are completely misguided when they associate Obama in any way with socialism (Obama’s a preeminent shill for capitalism and a Bay St. establishment candidate) but having witnessed the last couple of days of the DNC and seeing what’s in store for tonight, I have three words for the McCaintards (cue shot of Vince Carter circa 2000 in the NBA slam dunk contest or Dwight Howard’s superman dunk last year) “IT.. IS… OVER!”
As a democratic socialist I don’t care for either candidate, but I guess a capitalism of “hope” is more tolerable than a capitalism of fear & hate. And no I’m not blind to the possibility that as a shill for capitalism, Obama could be simply forestalling the inevitable and perhaps I should be cheering for McCain to screw things up even worse and thereby allowing me to break out my “How’s capitalism working for you now?” t-shirts, thereby signalling the beginning of the end of that nefarious, soul destroying system of economic exploitation known as capitalism.
“that nefarious, soul destroying system of economic exploitation known as capitalism”
Sure beats the human exploitation of that other system though, don’t it!
Capitalism offers the carrot. Socialism only the stick.
Odd, I just finishing The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Hubris anyone?
You know, Britney Spears used to have elaborate, impressive, pretentious… and wholly substance-devoid sets like that one…
And we know how well Britney’s career turned out ultimately.
You know, folks like Britney and Barry-O remind me of those concept cars without engines… they look awesome and exciting, but they can’t do much else.

a capitalism of fear & hate…..Bill, grow up, capitalism unlike socialism is color blind, class blind, and has no agenda. You wash up on American soil with 10 bucks in your pocket(my grandfather from Ireland or Cuba(son-in-law’s parents), work hard, build a small business or go to college at night, capitalism won’t take it away from you. It doesn’t care who you are. It doesn’t have an emotion. It’s the best level playing field that we have where the most people have prospered in a given time and space.
You’re spouting Obamaesque drivel and it won’t fly here. Like a typical liberal you feel rather than think.
The Ubermessiah will preach to the masses. He will say precisely nothing but whip up mob fervor.

Bill Stewart, the irony is that, despite the lefties dispising “US Imperialism”, their beloved leader wants to cement his ascent with an Imperial Image.
I encourage him in this fatuous display, it won’t play well in Peoria. I think The Ubermessiah justy can’t help himself; it’s all gone to his head.
Following on the theme of the previous post.
This will be The Ubermessaih’s Assension.
Let’s hope the election is his … ?
I didn’t think “Nuremberg rally;” I thought “Stonehenge” in This Is Spinal Tap. In other words, this really isn’t so much scary as so ridiculously, laughably pretentious that it’s the biggest gift the GOP could’ve possibly asked for.
Rove, you magnificent bastard! 😉
when I read about this redickyoulass get up I thought what fools, after the McCain camp used the airhead moviestar comparison, and they come up with this.

Spoken like a well trained moonbat. Well done, Bill. It amazes me how people like Bill here completely ignore the advances in almost every facet of human existence that have developed under capitalism (longer life spans, medical advances, broad-based economic prosperity, etc.).
Yet, Bill and the moonbats over on the left equate capitalism with “exploitation.” This is a remnant from the caveman brain when, in fact, the “economy” of the tribe was a zero sum game. There was only so much meat on a carcass to go around, so if someone ate more meat, there was less to go around to the other tribe mates. Message to Bill: we’re no longer a caveman, tribal society. We are now an advanced civilization based on capitalism and modern economics. The economy is not stagnant, and is not a zero-sum game, and a person getting ahead doesn’t mean somebody else, somewhere, lost ground as a result.
So, Bill, grow up, and exercise more self reliance in your life. Government is not your friend, and is not an inherently benevolent force. A government big enough to give you everything, is big enough to take it all away, including your self-reliance (paraphrased from Mark Steyn, page 48, America Alone).
Cheap skates – couldn’t they come up with a parting the Red Sea mock-up? The Dali bama is really slumming it.
But are we really supposed to look away from those ears – like they don’t exist?
Just had the pleasure to be invited to an all expense paid , by relatives, party in Ontario. That aside, the countryside 100 miles north of the cesspool known as Toronto is quite beautiful, and know what, the environment is beautiful just like Alberta. Some big money men at this party, Carreras and Bentleys in the yard, and the unaminous opinion of all these Toronto and New York money men was this. I hope to hell the empty suit poser Obama does not win, these people were very afraid of this marxist, and they should know, I was told by the host that one of these dudes had just sold a company for 5.6 billion, God help everyone if this half brother to his other half brother and cousin to his other half brother wins!
My but you folk are edgy. Next time, I’ll make sure to put a smiley face or write the word “sarcasm”. I thought since there’s so much levity going on around here I’d join in. Some quick replies. Britney’s a Republican. Obama is not a Marxist. I do not support Obama. My relationship to and critique of capitalism is far more complicated than “that nefarious, soul destroying system of economic exploitation known as capitalism. That was supposed to be a sarcastic stereotypical reduction of capitalism. I thought using “soul destroying” was a dead give away.
What’s with the lecture on self-reliance? Why would I listen to a buffoon like Steyn? Perhaps Emerson and transcendentalism might be a better route to self-reliance. Again why impute that notion of the State to me?
Regardless, my only two serious points were Obama has nothing to do with socialism, or the Left for that matter. Second, like it or not his victory has been sealed. He will be the next president of the USA. And this does not bode well for Harper.
I pray that the structure is not a Roman thing for we know that in those places assassinations are by the hands of your friends. “Et tu Brute” comes to mind.
Next time, I’ll make sure to put a smiley face or write the word “sarcasm”.

I re-read your original post, Bill. I detected no sarcasm in there at all. So, yes, you may with to use appropriate blog protocol (emoticon, etc.) if that’s what you’re trying to convey, in future. People on this blog don’t suffer fools gladly, and far left moonbats will receive appropriate, and legitimate, responses.
Regarding the “lecture” on self-reliance, coming from Steyn or not, I’d like to think it’s not a half-bad philosophy by which to lead one’s life. I just happened to like that particular quote from his book. You don’t have to like Steyn to follow a philosophy of self-reliance.
But, if you were indeed being sarcastic, then you can disregard the lecture, no?
Second, like it or not his victory has been sealed. He will be the next president of the USA.

Given that McCain and Obama are tied in the polls (and, I’d point out, there was no “bump” from the veep announcement), and given that Obama has lost an approximate 5-point lead since he sealed the primary, this statement is little more than talking out of your arse, Bill.
I won’t venture to say who will win, since it’s a foolhardy task to undertake at this stage of the game.
Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under socialism, it’s the other way round. 🙂
“Second, like it or not his victory has been sealed. He will be the next president of the USA. And this does not bode well for Harper.

And when the middle-of-the-road, mid-America, thinking voters have had their say the first Tuesday of November I fully expect that your head will explode and add to all that detritus from the exploding heads on the east and west coasts.
I love it when cocksure liberals get their dose of reality.
Yoop,
Call me moonbat if you will, but please don’t call me a Liberal. It’s like me calling you a communist. I abhor Liberalism as much as you do. It’s just that I’m not that fond of mullits, wrangler jeans, pick-up trucks, cheap alcohol, men who hit women, women who are codepedent on abusive men, gay bashing, reckless narrow minded bible thumping, nostalgia for a time that never was, and most importantly chauvinistic attachment to capitalism (all but the last point meant sort of sarcastically).
This leads to my next point, mid-American thinking voter =oxymoron. 🙂
I still maintain my analogy to the NBA slam dunk contest holds. Yes, participants went in on equal footing (tied in the polls), but what the dems have pulled off this week is akin to Dwight Howard’s superman dunk. There is no way of responding. “It is over”.
Again, I have no vested interested in seeing Obama win (see first line of this post). However, I am glad to see that Rove inspired negative attacks may not prevail this time. And I hope Canada will follow suit by similarly retreating from negative campaigning. It is so much for interesting to stand in hope of something than to stand in hate against something.
Bill
“””””””Yes, participants went in on equal footing (tied in the polls), but what the dems have pulled off this week “”””””
what, proved that Hussein is a mindless neo-type celebrity????
The following comment was made on another site and it worthwhile repeating here for all you Bushbot lovers.
“George W. Bush accepted his own nomination in 2004 on a set with a similar neoclassical theme, with columns rising on either side of him. But, as usual, I guess that’s different right?”
Actually, it is different. He was actually president at the time.
