  1. The first rule of politics is: do not underestimate the opposition. What if, what if Jason Cherniak is testing Liberals strategy for the next elections? The left is intellectually bankrupt, however they are masters when it comes to exploitation of human emotions. Any strategist advising Dion can see that the only shot he’s got is by playing a victim: a well-mannered, soft-spoken professor with good intention meandering into rough water of politics (never mind he has been in politics for most of his life). The rest of the project would be to find “an independent” observer confirming how badly he has been treated by (cyber)bullying conservatives and the bait is set. The conservative web site doesn’t help either. I think mocking a clown is a sort of flattery.
btw….. the left is increasingly using term “cyberbulling” which I think is a reflection on the fact that they and their supporters have a problem with the medium – individualistic by design and doesn’t render control of the masses. Hey kids!! It is not your teacher after you, it is your teacher’s union!!
…..and griefing is today what punk-rock was 30-years ago

  2. Me thinks Raphael is a Joe Clark red Tory and has found his valhalla in the left coast.
I wonder what his true feelings are about Kate McMillan and Kathy Shaidle.
At least he can thank Kate for a temporary bump in curiosity hits.
Sounds like a whiner, a government superannuated pensioner and Toronto Star fan.
    Says it all, eh?

  3. Kathy Sheidle seat in apartment not own any propery or money to some one sue her and she loose money over it. I donot bleive she is even in mid clase Canadian too
then do not waste yourtime to sue her
but you can bring introlocutory injunction
14E to sue her not for money
but also to ” ban her to not talk about you’
such as certain peopel belive they did soemthing and Kathy Sheidle say it to public in reverse fact
they can sue her in bring application with using 14E to stop her behvaiour
if few people join together taht is better
after they brought applicaiton to court in simple way and she can respond to application evenr herself she doer not need any lawyer
then in first time she may skip out of it
in secon complain they mayhit her for cost of
    legal fees
in third complain tehy can ban her not talk about that person
in fouth time they can stop her blogs even
therefore in law you have free to talk and write
but other person has right to protect heror himself if he is not agree of you say wrong about him then
law sue not neceasry in form of statment of claim but can come from some simple
notice of action and one application 14E claim
    calle it introlocutory injunction order

  4. Cyber Bullying is the leftards new word for Oh shite I lost another debate. They use to scream racist, then you are a hater, then you’re fat and now it’s cyber bullying. Places fingers to her forehead and does the L sign for the liberal/loser party of Canadastan.
Quote: Raphael Alexander is finding his inner Liberal.
    “…if Kathy’s a conservative, I don’t want to be one.”
Okay I’m cool with that Raphael, don’t let your natural large leftarded arse hit you on the way out the door okay buttercup ole sensitive metro sexual. Opps look Raphael it’s time for you to run to the spa for your pedicure. Pick hot pink, it goes with your bodice ripper name.

  5. This is what I posted on RA’s site:
    Mr. alexander:
If you think O’reilly is “odious” I would request that you remove the self-descriptor “moderate conservative” from your site as to hold that opinion of O’reilly is to be in conflict with most moderate conservatives of whom Mr. O’reilly is very much one.
Perhaps you should watch more (some? how much have you watched or listened to of his show?) of his work – he is pro-abortion, anti-capital punishment and more to the left on government spending than most conservatives.
Calling yourself “moderate conservative” is false advertising IMO.

  6. I cannot see why anyone has issue with Raphael Alexander’s post! Personally, I agree with most of what he says.
Shaidle is intellectually challenged and her verbal diarrhea provides the Left with lots of valid reasons to attack Conservatives.
Furthermore, lets not forget that Shaidle, who thinks she is God’s gift to free speech, does not allow comments on her blog.
Shaidle is an attention-starved, bloviating person who, despite being sued, has not learned to use her ears more than her mouth.
Cherniak should have just ignored her, as any sane person would!

  7. if Kathy’s a conservative, I don’t want to be one.
    Crappy logic there.
First, every political category has people in it one is likely to find loathsome. If you demand that everyone in your political movement be likeable then you’d better invent your own movement.
Second, being conservative or progressive or communist or whatever doesn’t automatically mean you support or are somehow associated with others of the same category. That makes as much sense as saying that all artists are like Hitler because he was an aspiring artist.
On the other hand, I am truly entertained by all the pissing matches that erupt in the Canadian political blogosphere. To paraphrase a Kissinger, “The fights are so vicious because the stakes are so small”.

  8. So Alexander does not like what Kathy says since it’s ‘over the top’ and furthermore chastises Ezra for defending her, legally. So is it inappropriate to defend someone if you don’t like what they have to say or write? That would put a pile of lawyers out of business now wouldn’t it? And …. I smell a leftie. Free speech for me but not for thee.

  9. Every time I bother to click on one of his posts, I find myself wondering why he is on the Blogging Tories roll……

  10. “And …. I smell a leftie. Free speech for me but not for thee.”
Maybe someone could walk me through the post and show me where Alexander said that? I, too, could do with a lot less Shaidle but that doesn’t mean I am calling for censorship, it means I am willing to say she’s wrong and argue against her. Isn’t THAT what free speech is about? It sounds like a lot of people are missing that little point. Like Alexander, I would prefer not to be associated with conservatism if Shaidle was its poster girl. Fortunately there are waaaay more people in the conservative tent that I DO respect.

  11. I see the illiterate troll is back. Someday it will understand that no one actually reads its posts. Or even makes an attempt at it. Who needs the headache?

  12. Well we all now know Raphael Alexander has no love for Kathy Shaidle that now extends to Ezra Levant for supporting her right for free speech no matter the reason.
His reasoning I found so stretching, that elastic man would have trouble with it. As well it was saturated in in a batch of green envy.
She & Ezra have proved there convictions many times by really facing them (such as actually going to court), than acting on them instead of playing word games. Ezra’s NEW assault against him should prove that. Obviously this guy is so out of the loop he does not see we are at war for the Nations soul. Individual liberties that have less to do with personalities, than ones basic right to fight to say as they please. What they want. While the others would create a monster of conformity with persecution.
This is just another flame war, with Mr.Cherniak doing the hustle for publicity. Its gonna blow right up in his face. What I found Satirical, is this bit after a long harangue about most of her readers being radicals.
“ Kathy Shaidle is a nobody, made famous only because of the extremist views she espouses on her blog, which are then proliferated by those more famous than she.”
The Irony of this is amusing. If she where so outrageous why would the more famous take her quotes to heart?
I find her just fine. She has relevent news content as well as just plain good entertainment. In the grand tradition of the Newswomen who fears not telling it like it is to the boys or girls from her perspective. So love her ,or hate her, but never shut her up.

  13. Gypsy says.
“I cannot see why anyone has issue with Raphael Alexander’s post! Personally, I agree with most of what he says.”
Then you are a Liberal Gypsy, Raphaels vilification is highly suspect and obviously selective given the amount of real hate spewed by leftists like Cynic, clearly Raphaels motives are based on personal animus not principle, he has whined previously about how “wrong it is” that Shaidle gets published in the Post etc because of “who she knows”. Blog envy is a horrible thing;)
    ….
“Shaidle is intellectually challenged and her verbal diarrhea provides the Left with lots of valid reasons to attack Conservatives.”
The left has no valid reasons to attack conservatives, like your comment above Gypsy all they have are ad hominem attacks that lack substance, Shaidle backs her commentary with truth, show me where she referred to anything Cherniak did in fact not write himself.
    ….
“Furthermore, lets not forget that Shaidle, who thinks she is God’s gift to free speech, does not allow comments on her blog.”
Which means…nothing. It’s her blog Gyppy, don’t read it if you don’t like it.
“Shaidle is an attention-starved, bloviating person who, despite being sued, has not learned to use her ears more than her mouth.”
I am happy to see Shaidle remains brave enough to carry on despite attempts to silence her. She is saving your butt too Gypsy, whether you like it or not.

“Cherniak should have just ignored her, as any sane person would!”
Well then maybe Cherniak shouldn’t have sent her the whiny e-mail that started this whole thing, he can dish it out but he can’t take it.

  14. “And because I believe in Conservative values and in decency values which exclude the personal attacks of one’s livelihood” +
“This kind of childish nonsense perpetrated by Shaidle needs to be rebuked, reviled, and ultimately removed from the blogosphere.” =
    Hypocritical IDIOT!!

  15. I stopped caring what Kathy Shaidle has to say when she said to me personally, here in the comments at Small Dead Animals, on March 6, 2007 at 7:31 PM, What I dislike immensely are amateur “writers” who adopt an archaic, pompous faux elegant prose style to (unsuccessfully) hide their lack of actual talent or original ideas. You’ll be in Grade 12 next year, I take it?
Actually, that’s not accurate, everyone gets more that one chance; it wasn’t really until Kathy Shaidle said to me personally, here in the comments at Small Dead Animals, on July 27, 2007 at 4:04 PM, Perhaps you could enlighten us, Vit, as to why you insist upon imitating the prissy, pretentious prose stylings of a Regency baronet? Don’t you ever give yourself the creeps, luv?.
To which I, of course, responded, No, that would be off topic.
Life is too short to drink bad wine. Nevertheless, free speech is good, it helps expose the frauds and the shysters; so hip, hip, do carry on, eh what. Nothing I say is that important. At least I realize that much.

  16. To start with there is no such thing as a RED Tory.Joe Clark was a Liberal and all other Red Tories are also. They have hijacked the conservative party and a case in point is David Orchard who is now running for the liberals. These people should be recognized for what they are, people with no morals or in other words a LIBERAL.

  17. That’s fifteen minutes of my life I’ll never get back.
    BTW–Vit, it’s “eh, wot?” 🙂

  18. You know a friend said it best today, this is his take on the whole situation:
“Well, life is full of regrets. It’s our nature, no one’s clean. I think that the willingness to get a little dirty from time to time in our inevitable human conflicts usually is a sign of someone being less sinful than those who would act as if one could be above it all.”

  19. Ooooh………..Not to intrude on a snobbery hissy fit (both party’s). But what’s your point? Sounds like sour grapes. Winston Churchill, JFK or Gandhi had a point to make, and in turn were well heard.
Eloquent writing aside, the prose champions pose but nothing of character and a genuine message.

  20. No, I said: eh what?, remember, I’m imitating the prissy, pretentious prose stylings of a Regency baronet, not some lowland dialect. Look, pay attention to important people, like Knight99, who praises Churchill and slags prose champions in the same breath, even though Churchill was a prose champion. May we have the next contestant please?

  21. Rapheal Alexander is a Liberal that could’nt get the nomination so he like the previous post is a liberal with NO morals. He says he woudnt want to be a conservative if Cathy Shaidle is,wellgood, who the hell would want a sniveling liberal in our midst.Go home Rapheal, join the party of Trudeau, join the movement that said that we have much to learn from the Soviet Union, the movement that held Castro in high esteem, the movement that glorified Mao.Maybe, like Chretean you will get a job representing a Canadian company in China and can kiss ass over there.

  22. LOL, I thought you were going for the minion, indentured serf dialect, Vit. My mistake. 🙂

  23. Hmmmm.
I see some word play has made my intent misunderstood by the recipient.
Re write – “the prose champions pose but nothing of character and a genuine message”.
To say – the prose does champion pose but nothing of character and a genuine message.
Sorry luv no ill meaning, only well intended familiar advice.

  24. Ray K. –
“Rat: Read the last line of his original post.”
He refered to Alexander’s last line:
“…rebuked, reviled, and ultimately removed from the blogosphere.”
I guess I took that differently because of the first two. I think he meant that by confronting and denouncing that it would be removed but I can see that it can betaken as a call for censorship. If that was the intent I am firmly against that. Thanks for pointing that out.

  25. Red Tory. Fah. The very term is an oxymoron, a myth. Look at all the “Red Tories” that have defected to their second party of choice.
One day, before too long I suspect, Raph is going to switch to Liblogs, citing his growing incompatability with anything Conservative. Mark my words.

  26. Blazing Cat Fur:
FYI: I am a card-carrying Conservative and am far more right wing than almost all people on SDA.
You calling me a Liberal simply because I dislike Shaidle is worse than Raphael Alexander being embarrassed to be Conservative because he doesn’t like one particular Conservative.
Are you telling me that in order to be a Conservative, I must like Shaidle and agree with her blather?
Kindly forward me a list of Conservatives I may criticize without me being called a Liberal.
P.S. I am quite capable of saving my own butt and wouldn’t let Shaidle anywhere near me. Look what happens to those who let Shaidle spew her potty-mouth on their blog….they get sued!!!

  27. Raphael Alexander: Getting a little touchy, are we?
I’ve never been able to figure this guy out. Bi-polar? Confused? Out to lunch?
    All of the above?

  28. Agreed, Gypsy, yet I agree with Blazingcatfur’s conjecture to the effect that the willingness to get a little dirty from time to time in our inevitable human conflicts usually is a sign of someone being less sinful than those who would act as if one could be above it all. Or as Albert Einstein once said, As far as I’m concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue.

  29. knight 999
. Winston Churchill, JFK or Gandhi had a point to make, and in turn were well heard.
JFK had a point to make?????
would that be the same point Willy Clinton made, but with a different Ho?????

  30. “The advance of freedom is the calling of our time; it is the calling of our country. […] America has put our power at the service of principle. We believe that liberty is the design of nature; we believe that liberty is the direction of history. We believe that human fulfillment and excellence come in the responsible exercise of liberty. And we believe that freedom — the freedom we prize — is not for us alone, it is the right and the capacity of all mankind.”
    — John F. Kennedy

  31. “…amateur “writers”…lack of actual talent…pretentious prose stylings of a Regency baronet…”?
There is a difference between writing for effect, titillation and the deft skewer…and the civilized conveyance of meaning, discourse, and cultural context. Shaidle excels at the former. Whether she is able to hang a cogent thought through tens of pages without losing the reader or the point is another question. To be fair, her prose IS quite spare and generally easy to read. While in today’s society, that may count as a virtue, I grew up on the King James English and Pauline linguistics (with jaunts into Augustinian musings). This has all left its mark. Most truly significant issues require multiple perspectives (FOUR gospels) and deep insight oft requires more complex and lengthy prose to accurately convey the author’s intent.
I do find it amusing that some writers are so taken with their wordsmithing. I’ve probably “made” more money by writing than she has (the great game of grantsmanship). So what? Shaidle – relax, woman. Go (re)read Ecclesiastes – despite the press, it is a determinedly joyful book. Stop railing against the vanities.
Vitruvius, it’s still worth reading Shaidle for the perspective, although her thundering puppy Christianity is not the witness one would wish (nor is mine, apropos of nothing). There is a place even for bad wine – generally as the base for great brandy.
And what you say IS important, else why bother?
I envy you the port and the pipe…

  32. Raph is a Liberal…so what? This surprises who?
Who cares? He will realise the truth some day. no one is prefect on any side of the political spectrum. No one and no party is going to make one happy on all issues.
    Best solution…
Vote for the party makes you most comfortable.
If you really like the people and the direction they are going in…join the party.
But Raph…please quit the incessant whining. it truly does bring out your inner Liberal.
Join LibLogs…you will be a star!!!
And you will no longer be fooling yourself!!!

  33. To be clear, Tenebris, I don’t dislike Kathy. Rather, it is simply the case that our styles, our shticks, our impedence, are mismatched to the point that even though we may respect each other, at least here in this rarefied (or if you prefer bandwidth-limited) medium, where we don’t actually know each other personally at all, our styles of wit are imiscible. This I acknowlege, and thus I have always been gracious to Kathy and never gratuitously insulted her; that is my sctick, and hers is hers, and I don’t deny her hers. Indeed, as Voltaire has been alleged to have said, I may disagree with her, but I will fight to the death for her right to say it.
Meanwhile, it remains the case that some of us are simply happy wordsmiths, we are borborygmic logophiles, we are betimes eudemonic; you can read all about it here. And that’s ok too, there’s room of a lot of shticks, even if the size of the universe is limited by the speed of light (and I doubt it).

  34. I got the distinct impression that the writer did not like Ms./Mrs.(?) Shaidle because of her lack of political correctness or that she can be MEAN at times.
    Oh well…

  35. GYMMM>
Obviously your points must be better. Do say.
“Ask not what your country can do for you……..but ask, what can you do for your country”.
I indeed DO try and live up to those wise words GYM. In my small way although not very grand. Any “HO’s in your life? Anything inspiring?
JFK made a mark, and it meant something to humanity whether you care to approve of it or not! Happy legacy building GYM.

  36. There is so many law people are not like those in Canada but on other hand, law is the law.
If you are not obey it, you will face the consequences and when you get sued you must pay so much time and money to resolve it.
The best advice to stick to the law or change or fight the law you do not like it before you commit the any illegal lawfull action. Try to talk to good lawyer to explain all the systms in Canada. Some lawyer like Ezra may have law degree but it does not mean he is smart lawyer but at least he know what law can be play or what it is better not to touch it and should advice her client honesty.
so many people are waiting for you do illegal to gain money off your illegal act one can be police, court systems, lawyers, reporters. in simple exampel when you park your car in wrong place police love to give you ticket otherwise who can pay salary without all those fine for us doing illegal. there is so many complicated law in Canada even judge are not know those detail and ask lawyer to do the research for them.
Try to educate yourself in law espcialy if you own the blogs before it is too late becaue law maker in Canada are act very mean with you when you broke it even if you do not mean to do illegal or not know your right. The best thing to educate yourself for law, your right and how to prevent any law sue and look for new solution otherwise you stock in court system of Canada for every and no way you can easy come out of it . COurt systems in Canada are not fair I bleive yet while they are doing better job than few years ago still no trust to lawyers I saw.
when you know the law why you repeat the same mistake again unless you must be stupid irreational and Odd person to do the same mistake again and again and again before change the laws here there is so many option avaiable. read your book before hire a lawyers do not trust lawyers 100% unless you know the lawyer and thier firm well. some times your lawyer will put you in trouble and report you to judge indirectly and can put you in trouble learn your right well and do not give your destiny in hand of lawyer fully.again you can find good lawyer too. I do not trust system of justice systme in Canada personlay are not fair to low income peopel or company or orginazation in general anda can be abusive and threatening if you stock to thier systmes.Nice try! or try yourself!

  37. Thank You Revnant Dream:
“Obviously this guy is so out of the loop he does not see we are at war for the Nations soul.”
That is my opinion exactly. My point to R.A. in my comment to him is that free speech is the most pressing issue facing Canada today.
His attack was vituperative, condescending and viscious and full of vile hate. Kathy would have a case against him at the Human Rights Commissions/tribunals if she was of the mind to press charges. Section 13 part 1 ought to be rescinded. This exchange proves the point.
