How to be a Disciple of The One

Boys and girls, we offer for you today your first lesson on how to be “progressive”, liberal, and a disciple of The One:

The lefty blogosphere hasn’t stopped perpetuating the rumor Sarah Palin “faked” her last pregnancy and are now humiliating her daughter Bristol on the blatantly incorrect suspicion she is the real mother of baby Trig.

Change you can believe in!
At least TimesOnline gets it:

“We may be seeing the first woman president. As a Democrat, I am reeling,” said Camille Paglia, the cultural critic. “That was the best political speech I have ever seen delivered by an American woman politician. Palin is as tough as nails.”

p.s. … does anyone remember The Speech of a Lifetime?

No, I couldn’t possibly make it.

“I’m busy. Schedule is full. Sorry, Mr Harper, I’ve no time. See, Jack and Gilles are busy too.
Oh, wait. You aren’t serious about that election thing are you? Dat is unfair! I have the power! I’ve been saying it all year.
What? Gilles and Jack made it, but they said they weren’t going to be available!
How about Monday? I really want to make this government work.
As Wells said earlier, “fiddles”.
Dion waited for Duceppe to take the lead and decline the invitation . . . then jumped aboard that train, declining even a phone call. That was the bait.
The NDP’s position is consistent, no help. PM Harper went all in by keeping the GG at home, releasing one new commercial, and having people drop all the right hints to the media. Now, “election” is all anyone is talking about.
Liberals are not happy with The Green Shaft and aren’t ready for an election . . . even though they’ve been saying “fall” all summer.
Game, set, match to the Prime Minister.

Reader Tips

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our Saturday night contemporary music show, we have a shiny new feature for you: here is our first SDA LNR Quiz. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to determine how far into this song it takes you to identify it. The clip starts about one-third of the way into the song, just to keep things properly obfuscated.

The title of the song is sung at the end, so (1) you don’t have to wait more than the length of the song to get the answer, and so (2) if you report on how fast you recognized the song, it’s on an honour basis only. And if you do want to take the quiz, you should probably do so before reading the comments, since someone will surely enough spill the beans there soon. Yet if you are going to claim to have recognized this song in four notes, then there has to be a reason for that, so you better have a good story to tell 😉

Listen to Tonight’s Quiz Song (7.5 MB MP3)

Update: Oh zot. Well, Kelly has pointed out in the comments that apparently the site I was using to host the quiz has a daily download bandwidth limit, and that has now been exceeded. I guess that kind of spoils the quiz, but here for your delectation anyway is the orginal work: Part 1 & Part 2. The quiz started at 6:25 in part 1.

Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

Overheard In An Iowa Cornfield

Friday morning as I was browsing the booths at the dog show;

“Did you hear what McCain did?”

Meanwhile, down at the Hillary Clinton Forum…
The choice of Sarah Palin (whose name is well known to anyone who surfs the American political rightosphere) and a new American Championship title for my 10 month puppy, Minuteman Dead Cat Bounce – it’s been a good weekend so far!
More – The Obama campaign is caught launching a Palin smear site.
An Alaskan Democrat – My plea is “Don’t underestimate her.”
(h/t Larry T.)
Just in – ZOGBY:
McCain/Palin 47%
Obama/Biden 45%…

The New Democratic Meme

“It’s also a slap in the face of Democratic women voters. They don’t get Hillary but they get Sarah as the first potential woman President? In fact, I can just hear Biden saying, “Sarah Palin, you are NO Hillary Clinton!”

“She’s an extremist and an enemy to the cause that has been fought on her behalf…. Someone should stand up and say: ‘I know Senator Clinton. Senator Clinton is a friend of mine. And Sarah Palin is no Hillary Rodham Clinton.'”
See a pattern here? Personally, I’d love to see Biden say that too. It would be the end of B. Hussein Obama’s run for the Whitehouse.
The Dems cannot help but be nasty on this choice of VP. They were absolutely sucker-punched by a 72 year old who they’ve been describing as “on death’s door”. That’s gotta hurt….
In the long run, the average voter, particularly the average female voter, will be so turned off by the Democrats nastiness towards Palin that, as I’ve said before, John McCain will be the next POTUS.
UPDATE; Cafferty must have received the “She’s No Hillary Clinton” memo from the Dem war room. Funny, how he didn’t receive one single email in support of the Palin nomination.

Sarah Palin and Experience

From the Comments:

Brilliant choice. It will be hard to criticize her on experience as she probably does more before breakfast than Obama does all day.

American Thinker:

That’s an easy one to dismiss. Sarah Palin has had more executive experience, meaning experience in running either a business or a government, than either Barack Obama or his running mate, Joe Biden. She has more executive experience than even her running mate, John McCain. Governor Palin served as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1999 to 2002. She was elected as President of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. She was elected as Governor of Alaska in 2006. And she has quite a few concrete achievements, considering the amount of time she’s been in office.

Double Think:

The McCain campaign is hoping and praying that someone will say that Palin is unready for the job. “Please,” John McCain is praying right now AS I TYPE, “Let a Democrat say that an executive with 2 years of experience and no foreign policy expertise isn’t ready for the presidency. Oh pretty please. Because you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to take that soundbite, put it in an ad, slap Obama’s mug up there, and run it over and over and over again.”

Update: Sarah Palin … June … 2007
From the archives of the Weekly Standard:

State law barred Palin from speaking out publicly about ethical violations and corruption. But she was vindicated later in 2004 when Ruedrich, who’d been reconfirmed as state chairman, agreed to pay a $12,000 fine for breaking state ethics laws. She became a hero in the eyes of the public and the press, and the bane of Republican leaders.

McCain VP: Obama Reacts

Palin

Sen. John McCain has picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, a senior McCain campaign official told CNN on Friday.
Palin, 44, who’s in her first term as governor, is a pioneering figure in Alaska, the first woman and the youngest person to hold the state’s top political job.

Obama Reacts:

Seven Year American Recession Watch Remains On High Alert

Witness the Associated Press pound the good economic news into the 2008 campaign ground;

WASHINGTON (AP) — The economy pulled out of a dangerous rough patch in the spring, thanks largely to strong exports, but the rebound isn’t expected to last. Economic slowdowns overseas could make exports tail off just as Americans are hunkering down after the bracing impact of rebate checks wanes, plunging the country into another rut later this year.
“There will be heavy sledding for the U.S. economy during the next couple of quarters,” predicted Lynn Reaser, chief economist at Bank of America’s Investment Strategies Group.
Gross domestic product, or GDP, grew at a 3.3 percent annual rate in the April-June quarter, its fastest pace in nearly a year, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. The revised reading was much better than the government’s initial estimate of a 1.9 percent pace and exceeded economists’ expectations for a 2.7 percent growth rate.

I say that when the Great Bush Depression finally hits, we eat the journalists first.

Quebec Gov’t Sued

garland_logo.png
Quebec’s Open Source association FACIL(Google Translated) is suing the Gov’t of Quebec because Quebec has refused to open tenders for software and support to local vendors. Quebec is using an exemption in law that allows them to buy proprietary where no other options exist. (Cough, BS.)

Good for FACIL, I hope they win. I also hope that other Municipal and Provincial governments as well as the Federal gov’t get off their duff and start moving towards Open Source Software. Usually it is license free, it is always better code, and service and support can be provided by local vendors because they have access to the internals. OSS allows gov’t to create a more diverse knowledge based economy and allows it to support it’s citizenry rather than the Seattle and San Jose economies.

Move Over Chuck Norris

Best Obama facts are here…
On a serious note, the US presidential election is taking on a real “soldiers in your cities” feel to it. When people start spoofing your candidate and their positions, there’s real trouble in your campaign.
If Obama rises from the floor this evening as I’ve heard he will, this election is over. Republicans will benefit more from that image during the rest of the campaign from the average voter, than the Democrats will from their partisan crowd tonight.
