Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I personally think that the police should have of emptied their guns into the perp when he jumped out the window. It would save the Canadian tax payer a lot of money. The guy was guilty, why bother to ask him why he did it. By the time psy,s get down with him he will be taking drugs, drinking all because maybe he was abused as a child and to top it off he will be walking the streets in 5yrs on parole.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Tim and his family. What they must be going through right now, very sad. As for the “man” (and I use that term lightly) that has been charged, is one sick puppy.
“Vince Weiguang Li”
Big surprised there. In Soviet Canada, if the Royal Canadian Secret Police refuse to name a criminal it is because he is not white.
They do this every week in my hometown whenever there is a swarming or similar race based crime; wait 24 hours until after the papers report it, then charge the criminals. That way they can hide that there is a war on white males.
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20080731/Manitoba_victim_080801/20080801?hub=TopStories
“RCMP have charged Vince Weiguang Li, 40, with second-degree murder after 22-year-old Tim McLean was stabbed and then decapitated in a vicious attack on a Greyhound bus.”
And as mentioned above by others, the media is full of questions about how the accused got on a bus with a big knife, and what Big Brother is going to do to keep us fluffy little lambs safe from the big bad wolf in the future.
Meanwhile, we have QE on here trying to make anti-racist points against all us baaaad people.
Tell you what QE. I don’t give a rat’s a$$ what chopper-boy’s motivations are, if any. Islamic hatred or off his meds, it is IRRELEVANT.
What is relevant is that we live in a country where such lunatics walk the streets in ever increasing numbers. They didn’t use to, but now they do. We can thank 40 years of Liberalism for that. Liberal mental health policy, Liberal justice policy, Liberal immigration policy.
What is relevant is that we Canadians are forbidden from intervening against these lunatics when they do murder. If a guy who was armed illegally shot this prick in mid chop, that guy would be in JAIL this morning and the media would be screaming for gun control, meanwhile YOU would be screaming RACIST, RACIST!!! at me for saying -anything at all-.
It is bullsh1t that fruitcakes walk the streets unrestrained and untreated. It is bullsh1t that raging Islamic fundamentalists are allowed into this country. It is bullsh1t that we are not allowed to have even the faint hope of fending off rape, robbery or murder, that we are all forced to walk with big neon targets on our backs, denied even the marginal safety provided by a firearm or even a friggin’ knife.
And you, QE sir, are a walking pile of bullsh1t for trying to make this about race. You are in fact the SOURCE of the bullsh1t that infests this formerly great country, you and your fellow useful socialist idiots.
“those of you continuing on with this Muslim stuff may want to revisit the facts.
RCMP have charged Vince Weiguang Li with second-degree murder…”
Brent Weston at August 1, 2008 10:12 AM
Why?
Ever heard of Marc Lepine or John Walker Lindh?
How about John Allen Williams?
Do those names sound Muslim?
Oz: fair comment.
It appears that I may have been as hasty as some others. It seems appropriate to say “oh no, here we go again” if the facts lead in that direction. The current facts as released still suggest a bit more caution would be appropriate.
Condolences to the family of Mr. Tim McLean.
Well-said, Phantom.
Would you please run for Mayor of Toronto–or, better yet, Premier of Ontario?
We need some kick-ass realists as heads of our governments, not the candy-assed, let’s-be-nice-to-everyone-and-let-them-roam-our-streets-even-if-they’re-totally-whacko-and-intent-on-murder “leaders” we’re stuck with now.
Of course, they’re all at their tony cottages where they don’t have to deal with the flotsam and jetsam their socialist policies have peopled our mean streets with. When they get back to the big, bad city, they’ll hole up in their gated and gentile neighbourhoods and be driven to work in a Rosedale/Forest Hill/High Park limo.
GIVE. ME. A. BREAK.
Not the best advertising for Greyhound, having a customer beheaded and all.
Yes, Oz, that’s true. Not all decapitators are Muslim, or non-white. Evil knows no boundaries – social, colour or religion.
Here’s the latest story in England:
The boyfriend of the 17-year-old British girl whose body was found in a suitcase has reportedly claimed chopping up the teenager was ‘just like cutting beef.’ Mohammed Dali Carvalho dos Santos also said he took photographs of Cara Marie Burke’s dismembered corpse to send to a Brazilian friend living in the UK.
I hope all those armchair commandos are as good at quarterbacking from the same position. Let’s see: dark bouncing bus at night and these weenies are talking about going back and disarming the sicko armed with nothing more than a stern warning. Give me a break, eh. The passengers were lucky that this guy only took out one. Five year military veteran couldn’t do anything? A five year former infantry soldier is a lot different than a five year finance clerk or steward.
Maybe, just maybe, if he was heading to take over driving the bus or attacking others then a vain but valient attempt would be called upon. Remember, flight 93 knew they were dead anyhow so they had nothing to lose.
btw, I am puzzled why the RCMP didn’t just blow the sicko away instead of negotiating. “yes, from my vantage point the alledged perp was starting to lunge at the negotiator with his knife so I was left with no option but to apply deadly force.” End of story and saved a spot at Club Fed to boot.
The Phantom is exactly right.
It is filth like QE who are directly responsible for the sinkhole Canada is becoming. And indirectly responsible for incidents like this and the likely slap-on-the-wrist justice this monster will receive.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family not only has to deal with this sudden, brutal and outrageous murder, but face being victimized all over again by the so-called justice system.
Had the situation been reversed it would more than likely be a hate crime.
QE and his fellow travelers need to be politically castrated. Chased from the town hall. An unwelcome and despised pariah.
This just in…
“As a result of the Manitoba bus slaying, Mayor Mao of Toronto says he wants to shut down all bus depots in the city and will be discussing further with his secretive ‘executive committee’ the possibility of asking the feds to ban Greyhound buses from entering the city.”
Not to forget the awful happening in 2000. A 22 year old Nova Scotian man was put on a Greyhound bus near Ignace, which is the Thunderbay area. The driver was aware the man was mentally ill. The police officer had, it was testified, put that man on the bus. He later grappled with the driver and the bus ended up in a ditch. Six passengers were seriously injured. One lady died about ten days later.
To my absolute incredulity, I just did a check and found that the man was interviewed on television. After a short stay in jail, he was released on condition he stay with his mother in Nova Scotia.
The system was blamed, for not being able to spot a man crying for help. Help, he claimed was needed because of his medication.
This is hardly believable, I know. What are the odds of this defence being used again?
With the ID out perhaps we have some insight into why the delay in identifying the subhuman, humanoid robot, whatever. There’s no credible excuse for identity delay, they had to know who he was from the beginning, so was it down to what he was? Why does it matter? Do we have the old PC at play here? Aren’t we hearing from far and wide we a Multicultural country and proud of it? So, what’s the game here?
We’ll have another guest to pay for in our prison system and sadly, there will be no justice served for such a unspeakable crime of extreme cruelty. It would be impossible for true justice in this case, the gallows would be too good for THE THING.
My heart is sick for the victim’s family, can’t imagine how anyone could cope with having a loved one so brutally murdered.
The Phantom: If a guy who was armed illegally shot this prick in mid chop…
Because nothing tragic could possibly come from a jolted-awake guy (or girl; because I know The Phantom is all about gender equality) firing (1) in a confined space, (2) which happens to be a moving vehicle, (3) in the dark, (4) while panic-stricken passengers sitting between him (or her) and the attacker jump out of their seats, pushing and shoving for the front door.
Even better would be multiple armed civilians, all firing at once!
Since someone else is now using “biff”, I will, from this moment on, refer to myself as “biff jr.”
There would have been only two satisfactory endings to this horrendous story.
1. The whacko could have attempted to escape and received a two-hander right between the eyes with a crowbar, courtesy of the truck driver.
2. The first police officer on the scene could have removed the lunatic’s head (or most of it) with a well-placed shotgun blast.
As it now stands, the knive-wielding monstrosity will, in all likelihood, be found not guilty by reason of insanity and be placed, for a short period of time, in an institution where the taxpayers can ensure that he is well looked after.
In the meantime, we will be bombarded ad nauseam with claims that the perpetrator was, in fact, a victim who “fell through the cracks”.
By the way biff … I agree with your comments.
Tell you what QE. I don’t give a rat’s a$$ what chopper-boy’s motivations are, if any. Islamic hatred or off his meds, it is IRRELEVANT.
You and I both know that if it were to come to light that Mr. Li was in fact a practising Muslim, that “Islamic hatred” would suddenly become very, very relevant around these parts, regardless of whether he was in fact motivated by faith or not.
What is relevant is that we live in a country where such lunatics walk the streets in ever increasing numbers. They didn’t use to, but now they do. We can thank 40 years of Liberalism for that. Liberal mental health policy, Liberal justice policy, Liberal immigration policy.
If you insist on seeing the world through your narrow partisan lens, that’s your prerogative. But the fact remains that the policy of mental health service deinstitutionalization was carried out in N. America over the past 40 years by governments across the political spectrum.
Deinstitutionalization failed not because it’s inherently a bad idea (who’s better off caring for your delusional nephew: the state or your neighbourhood church or volunteer org?), but because no government – right, centre, or left – had or has any political incentive to properly fund the community-level services and programs needed to support those with mental health problems. No votes to be gained from helping the mentally ill = no money forthcoming. The result – from the 70’s onward, mental health facilities were downsized or shuttered, and their patients were left to fend for themselves on the streets. Homelessness and mental illness converged. Pretending that only Liberals supported this lop-sided policy and you risk delusion yourself.
Having read all the comments, I must (sadly) concur with QE to this extent…
Well, it was nice while it lasted.
Mr. Oz,
Check the facts you say?
Marc Lapine’s birth name was Gamil Gharbi. His daddy was a muslim so by muslim law he was a muslim.
Merle Underwood: “I personally think that the police should have of emptied their guns into the perp when he jumped out the window.”
Texas Canuck: “btw, I am puzzled why the RCMP didn’t just blow the sicko away instead of negotiating.”
biff jr: “The first police officer on the scene could have removed the lunatic’s head (or most of it) with a well-placed shotgun blast.”
Now, I know you folks don’t mean that. Assigning to police officers the roles of judge, jury, and executioner would take one a fair bit down the road to authoritarianism.
Had the attacker lunged at a cop, then by all means, open up on him. But confined inside a locked bus? I don’t think so.
Mr. Oz,
Chceck the facts you say?
According to Wikipedia:
“Lindh prefers to go by the name Hamza Walker Lindh today, although during his time in Afghanistan, he went by Sulayman al-Faris”
Off the top of my head I believe that he converted to the religion of peace in 1997.
@multirec
“We’ve become friggen bystanders.”
Correction: we have been disarmed by our masters
May i join others in saying My heartfelt sympathies to the family & friends of the Young Man, May the good lord be with you.
Phantom: Right On well stated
gellen: “Yes, Oz, that’s true. Not all decapitators are Muslim, or non-white. Evil knows no boundaries – social, colour or religion.”
EyesWideShut: “Check the facts you say?”
Folks, you’re misreading Oz. S/he’s trying to point out that Mr. Li could still be a practitioner of Islam, despite having a ‘non-Muslim’-sounding name.
S/he’s trying to keep open the option of blaming this attack on religion. In other words, s/he’s agreeing with you, EyesWideShut, and disagreeing with you, gellen.
Ok I checked the facts!
According to Air Socialism (CBC)
RCMP announced Friday morning that they have charged Vince Weiguang Li, 40, of Edmonton with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear at the Manitoba provincial court in Portage la Prairie. A Chinese Muslim, Li expressed to investigators that his actions were motivated by the Koran.
Had the attacker lunged at a cop, then by all means, open up on him. But confined inside a locked bus? I don’t think so.
I agree. There’s an emotional satisfaction to wishing the cops had shot the guy but wanting the cops to take out someone who was presenting no risk to anyone at that time – Mr. McLean being obviously dead – is wrong.
The driver and passengers did exactly the right thing – get themselves to safety, call for help and take what steps they could to confine Li to the bus.
QE,
Excellent reading comprehension.
You get an “A”.
My other point is that the media often knows the perp is a Muslim, answers to a Muslim name, but the MSM uses the perp’s non-Muslim name to throw avid readers off the scent.
“S/he’s trying to keep open the option of blaming this attack on religion.”
~QE
The above isn’t correct though.
The option that I’m keeping open isn’t “religion”, it’s Islam.
Nice try at equivalence.
Does anyone know if the laws that apply to “death cars” (vehicles involved in slayings that are resold) will apply to this bus? I believe there are laws in place that allow the resale of cars and dealers not to devulge the information of the vehicle’s history to be made known to the buyer because if it was, the car would not be sold.
Will anyone know if the bus they’re riding in–indeed the passenger seat where the victim was murdered–is this particular bus? I guess the number on the side will, of course, be changed.
Would you want to sit in that seat again?
QE: Now, I know you folks don’t mean that. Assigning to police officers the roles of judge, jury, and executioner would take one a fair bit down the road to authoritarianism.
Actually, I did mean it. In this case, the perpetrator was obviously guilty … judge and jury not a requirement. As for the role of executioner … exterminator would be a more apt description for someone willing to do what our justice system deems unthinkable. Anyone capable of committing such an unspeakable act forfeits any right to continue living.
QE, you have never even held a gun in your entire life, have you? Nor have you ever done violence on anybody, or had it done to you outside grade school, I’ll bet. The closest you’ve ever come is -maybe- a karate class. Maybe.
Your problem is that you are too arrogant to admit you have NO EXPERIENCE with the subject at hand. You have no idea whatsoever what an armed civilian is capable of, you’ve never even met one. You are ignorant, sir.
I reiterate, it is puffed up ignorami like yourself imposing their incorrect, uninformed, baseless assumptions on the rest of us that have this country in the obscene mess it is today.
Go get yourself mugged a couple times. Maybe held up at gun point too. Then come back here and we’ll have a more informed discussion about self defense. From your side anyway, like others here I’ve seen that elephant.
EyesWideShut:
I believe they’ve removed that comment about him being Muslim from the CBC website 😀 Haha.
I think Phantom’s statement this morning nails how many of us feel regarding this incident. and if the moslem angle has legs…
wow. just wow.
and thanks to the reader for bringing up the name “Marc Lepine”
as others have noted, read the history of him, all of his thinking was poisoned by the religion of moh.
and all the “men” in that classroom walked out, just as told to and stood there as they heard the rifle take the women down one by one…
“A Chinese Muslim, Li expressed to investigators that his actions were motivated by the Koran.”
So the butcher is a Muslim. Why is that not shocking?
Looks good on you QE.
Care to comment more?
Vince Weiguang Li appeared in court Friday to face a second-degree murder charge.
Why not first-degree murder charge?
I thought EyesWideShut was taking the piss about the killer being Muslim, wasn’t he?
You guys are missing the point here. It doesn’t MATTER if the guy is a 100% sane Muslim on jihad. That changes nothing at all in the equation, all it tells you is the motivation.
Motivation is relevant only at a strategic level. Its able to be addressed by police forces and government departments only.
We are civilians. Or interest is strictly tactical. We have to protect our own personal asses and assets, and from that perspective the attacker’s motivation makes no difference.
What makes a difference is the legal environment in which we must act, and right now, today, it is stacked against us to an almost unbelievable degree. As in, you won’t believe what’s going to happen to you if you manage to stay alive by killing a head chopping maniac in mid chop.
Personally, I think we might want to focus on that a bit harder.
Busses. Man, I thought it was bad when the couple two seats ahead of me, strangers at first, started getting it on during a long night between Birminghan AL and somewhere in TN… Sheesh.
How can this monster be charged with just second degree murder and not first degree? Is it so our leftie justice system can cop a plea of manslaughter?
The RCMP failed us again….sigh! Here was the perfect opportunity to get their fix of tazering people! Instead of tazering innocents as is their norm, they should be providing ample jolts of electricity to dirtbags like this…..just on principle!
Gary…agreed, except they should have sat him in a puddle first.
“The Leftosphere is now frantically looking for a way to pin this one on Conservatives.”
Er… you guys are the only ones I’ve seen trying to politicize this.
“I would like to know how many males were on the bus and what was their age. I’m 47 and have morals, my stand, whether I succeed or die trying, would have been to help that young man.”
Mr. Bigtalk, you are a sorry excuse for a human being. The passengers did exactly the right thing. Retreat in the face of chaos, and perform a recon to see if you can help. It’s always easy to say what you would have done when you weren’t there.
“So the butcher is a Muslim. Why is that not shocking?”
Somebody want to post where this is written? I can’t seem to find anything. AND so the frig what? This has more to do with the dude having a head full of bad wiring than being a Muslim.
Jesus you guys are stupid.
I think it would be real difficult to show first degree, not having gotten into his head and all yet. It isn’t as though his so called holy book instructed him… “Vince, go and murder an innocent man” and then he did this.
I do note in the CTV story, no mention yet of his so called religion, yet they note his face seems swollen. I can’t imagine why…?
perhaps he fell?
so I’d be easy on the police in this regard, their hands seem tied to carry out what so many will call for.
John…retreat in the face of chaos, you from France?Your mirror has an accurate depiction of stupid,go have a look.
“so what” if he’s a muslim?
Try saying that in the proper context:
“So what if he belongs to a rapidly rising, virulent, form of radical Islam that actively preaches violence (and beheadings) to infidels,
which brand of radical islam is actively being spread around the world, from its base of teachings in Saudi Arabia?”
Yeah, so what, right?
insist the government instigate a knife registrary. I’ll be calling my Liberal MP tomorrow!!
Posted by: RW at July 31, 2008 9:16 PM
That’s sarcasism right?
Good, I’ll feel so much safer knowing little grey haired ladies aren’t packing their “Steak knives” around the mall. It’s usually street scum that carry knives, the rest of us carry DD40. Looks like mace but it actually only oils and lubes the crims’ eyes.
Phantom: thanks for the pragmatic comments. In the hands of a trained user (CC Permit Holder) a handgun is precisely the only form of defense possible. As you stated, the range were talking about would only be an inch or so. I also served in the Military and I can tell you I would not have tried to intervene in those confined spaces. In addition, one would have to be a very big strong youth to take down this s*it in his adrenalin strengthened rage.
So now we have our third incident in Canada involving Terrorism with loss of life. The gymnastics of how we hide our heads and avert our eyes will be interesting to see.
“This has more to do with the dude having a head full of bad wiring than being a Muslim.”
So speaks Freud.
Like the “Magnificent 19” I suppose? Or, perhaps the Asian Muslims that cut off the school girls heads? Or the…
“A Chinese Muslim, Li expressed to investigators that his actions were motivated by the Koran.”
Oh, look, a common “bad wiring” denominator: The Quran.
Although a redundant description for a leftard: Damn are you stupid.
Cassandra: I was thinking the same thing. It seems obvious to me the guy was intending to intentionally commit a murder, the only uncertainty was who would be the victim. Having read a little on the definition of first-degree, this seems like a slam-dunk.
A concealed weapon probably wouldn’t have made a difference in this crime, the perpetraor had the advantage of a tight space, he was fast and singularly focused on only one victim, but, let’s not forget that it was luck that he didn’t decide to stab as many people as possible as they sat trapped in their seats, and, that he didn’t walk to the front and focus on the driver first.
There are urban areas in the states where physical assaults on public transportation occur regularly. There have been some savage beatings on buses in Baltimore that made headlines. I’m with Phantom, only in a society with the right of private citizens to bear arms, do you have one more possible chance of protection. The cops are over-extended, and, you have to be able to phone them first with a specific location.
Deinstitutionalization failed not because it’s inherently a bad idea (who’s better off caring for your delusional nephew: the state or your neighbourhood church or volunteer org?)
QE – de-instituitionalization of the mentally ill is being rethought in the US. The problem is that for schizophrenics with a history of violence who refuse treatment as many do, mom and dad and siblings can’t care for them. Nor can community based care. Our prisons are filled with the chronically mentally ill so it’s really a question of which kind of instituition do you want them in. Liberals using the ACLU lead the legal assualt in closing state hospitals against the better judgement of psychiatrists. With all of the social and case management services, medication clinics, housing subsidies, administrative costs, etc, I’m doubting that there is any cost effectiveness to community based services for those folks. They certainly aren’t living lives that are moe dignified or safer for themselves.
IN NO WAY AM I BLAMING TIM MCCLEAN. HE IS AN INNOCENT VICTIM OF A MADMAN BENT ON MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION.
As a mother who often talks to my own children about the possible dangers of listening to loud music on their i-pods when, for instance, they’re out running, I can’t help wonder, was there any undetected indication that Li was getting irrational before he attacked?
This is a logical question which I think should be allowed to be asked without anyone jumping to the conclusion that it is blaming the victim. In no way, am I blaming Tim McClean who, obviously, was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong person.
Was Li mumbling to himself, was he making verbal threats under his breath? Was he making weird sounds?
Who would know when listening to loud music?
The issue of people listening to loud music on i-pods, which would impair their ability to be alert to situations that could be compromising or dangerous to their safety and well-being is something that I am very concerned about–and have been for some time. (A few years ago, a teenage boy I knew wearing an i-pod was killed by an oncoming TTC train because when he stuck his head out to see if the train was coming it was right there. He hadn’t heard the train because of the music he was listening to.)
I have children and am concerned for the safety and well-being of every young person who wears an i-pod whenever they’re out. Their ability to be aware of and alert to signs of possible and/or impending trouble or danger is simply impaired.
This tragedy is absolutely the most horrendous thing that could happen to anyone, and my sympathy and condolences go out to Tim McLean’s parents, family, and friends.
