It’s The Shift That Keeps On Giving!
A Toronto firm is suing the federal Liberal party for more than $8 million and demanding it cease using the firm’s name “Green Shift” for its carbon-tax plan.
Green Shift Inc. owner Jennifer Wright personally delivered a statement of claim at Liberal party headquarters today as she launched the lawsuit.
The statement says Wright is seeking $8.5 million for “general and special damages” and a further $250,000 for aggravated and punitive damages.
The lawsuit seeks a court injunction to stop the party from using or displaying the words Green Shift, or any other trademark or Internet domain name that is similar to the logo used by Green Shift, which has had its trademark registered since 2003.
The Liberal party has so far ignored Wright’s demands to stop using the firm’s name.

Perhaps some of you older Canadians will remember a radio show that was on the CBC before it became a communist radio network. “Michael Mulligan of the North West Mounted Police”. His comical side kick was Jacques Carbeau a typical, toque-wearing French Canadian northerner.
Most of us kids loved the Carbeau Character especially when he said his identifying line “Son a ma gun Michael … ” in his heavy French accent.
I think the Libs and the CBC would do well to reselect this duo and rename Michael Mulligan Michelle Jean and Jacques Carbeau, Jacques Carbon. They could go around the north arresting people for lighting campfires and cutting trees and so on, thereby adding to Canada’s carbon footprint.
It would be right up their alley. I know this sounds corny, but so is Stepane Dion.
Yeah, the Liberals are ready to work with Ms Wright, welcome her into the fold,give her free membership, become one of the happy, united family.
Problem is, Ms Wright has served them notice she’s not going to bend to their advances by serving them with intent to sue. They had ample warning which they opted to ignore.
It’s hard for such arrogant assholes to understand they can’t steal someone else’s copyright without paying the price. They’re shi*t out of luck on this one.

This is my take on this happy scene. The liberals had the plan and name up on the board for weeks(maybe days). Someone decided to check out the name at the last minute and found out it was unusable. Another person,(maybe garth)thought,well let’s phone her up and ask if it would be O.K. to use the name. There is no other reason to contact her ,they knew they were on shaky ground. Ms.Wright said ‘Nay,Nay,it is our name,hands off’. The libs sat back and pondered,’What shall we do,we are f**ked,Do we change all our advertising,pamphlets,tv spots,commercials,etc. and pick a new name or do we try to bully and bullsh*t our way through? They looked at their bank account and said’let’s stick to what we know,f**k her and her little company,we are the liberals,our buddies at mothercorp and ctv will do the spin,we can do it. The little wright-wing bi**h should be happy for the business that the liberal party will generate for her’. TOO BAD LIBS. You have proven over and over that you are morally bankrupt,soon you will be financially bankrupt also.Ms. Wright,take a bow.You rock.
These guys will just try and rebrand the name as “The Canadian Liberal Party”
Maybe they’ll use “The Canadian Liberal Alliance Party”, referencing all the clapping in that commercial. Oh wait, is the CLAP something most people want?
Alberta money spent in Ontario would be front page news though.
There already IS a lot of money being spent in Eastern Canada (Quebec and Ontario mostly) for Alberta oilsands projects – engineering services and big expensive equipment fabrication, for two examples.
But that’s actual business, not forced “donations” or “transfers” that do absolutely nothing to reduce pollution.

Short/intermediate/long term targets >>> only one ‘vague’ paragraph on targets in 44 pages of Green Shift taxation schemes. It mentions a 2020 target but that’s 8 years beyond the 4 year duration of the Carbon Tax or 2012.
Reduction/monitoring mechanisms >>> that would be the Liberal’s Rodriguez “Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act” that requires Canada meet it’s 2012 Kyoto targets.
On page 16 of the Green Shift, Dion admits Canada will not achieve it’s 2012 Kyoto GHG targets which are currently 30% in excess of our target.
So here we have a proposed Carbon Tax that is forecast to collect $15 Billion by 2012 .. a Liberal-inspired law on the books requiring Canada meet it’s Kyoto 2012 targets .. but Dion admitting Canada will not meet it’s GHG reduction targets.
Connecting the dots .. the only way a Dion Liberal government can comply with the Rodriguez act and the Kyoto Treaty is to purchase Kyoto Carbon Credits most likely costing Billion$$$ by 2012 when there will be a rush to buy those Carbon Credits from countries such as China, India, Russia.
Is this the Dion Liberal ‘hidden agenda’ contained in the Green Shift ..??!!!

Whats “deplorable” is how Dion & the Liberals just take Canadians for granted, Ms Wright regardless of her Political affiliations (Bob Fife,july09/08 ref:wright to ndp affiliations)Has the right under registered trademarks to protect her Business from infringements from anyone, But our Party of Entitlements just don’t see that. Was it not just two years ago that Dion claimed mass climate devastation if he was not elected to meet Canada’s Kyoto targets by 2012?
That it was his number one priority?
Shouldn’t some reporter ask him if those goals are still his?
I bet this is his hidden agenda. I bet we are looking at a minimum of a dollar a litre tax increase if Dion is elected.
And huge inflation on everything.
But then again, people should already realize that tax increases are ALWAYS the Liberal hidden agenda.
If you go to the Green Shaft site it will tell you how much your vote is worth, but there is nothing there to tell us how much the Green Shaft will reduce C02 emissions.
It would seem the important part of this program is how much the liberals are prepared to pay for your vote.
This program is advertised as a way of reducing carbon emissions.
Gasoline, which won’t be taxed by the Green Shaft, produces more C02 than diesel fuel, which will be taxed by the Green Shaft.
The West uses more diesel fuel than the east, the east uses more gasoline than the West.
No wonder they don’t mention how much it will reduce C02 emissions.
This part of the Shaft will increase C02 emissions.
It’s simply a vote buying program with the West providing the cash.
