You can beat it with a stick, drown it, bury it, and even disprove it … but it just won’t die:
We’ve been told about one trillion and forty-five times by leftists that Afghanistan is all about oil, and especially the famed Bush/Cheney pipeline from hell. I’m sure that somewhere at sometime a leftist “peace” marcher shouted out, “No war for pipes!”.
From Fat Bastard Michael Moore to intellectually challenged leftist bloggers, the refrain has been sung from the highest mountain tops … 200 years from now some alien will intercept radio signals from earth and be shocked at how many people died over “the pipeline”. They’ll invade then, and incinerate anyone caught living anywhere near a pipe of any kind … leftists of course will be hit the hardest, as they tend to dwell closest to sewer pipes.

You’ve got it backwards: it is leftist extremists who want to impose their gay feminist agenda on Afghanistan, and rightists who oppose it.
Half of Conservative Party of Canada supporters oppose the Afghanistan mission, that is well documented. Are you even a small-c conservative, Cjunk? Yes or no?
Let’s ask the troops in Iraq what they think:
“A new poll to be released today shows that U.S. soldiers overwhelmingly want out of Iraq — and soon. The poll is the first of U.S. troops currently serving in Iraq, according to John Zogby, the pollster. Conducted by Zogby International and LeMoyne College, it asked 944 service members, “How long should U.S. troops stay in Iraq?”
Only 23 percent backed Mr. Bush’s position that they should stay as long as necessary. In contrast, 72 percent said that U.S. troops should be pulled out within one year. Of those, 29 percent said they should withdraw “immediately.”
# Le Moyne College/Zogby Poll shows just one in five troops want to heed Bush call to stay “as long as they are needed.”
# While 58% say mission is clear, 42% say U.S. role is hazy.
# Plurality believes Iraqi insurgents are mostly homegrown.
# Almost 90% think war is retaliation for Saddam’s role in 9/11, most don’t blame Iraqi public for insurgent attacks.
# Majority of troops oppose use of harsh prisoner interrogation.
# Plurality of troops pleased with their armor and equipment.
# While 89% of reserves and 82% of those in the National Guard said the U.S. should leave Iraq within a year, 58% of Marines think so.
# 7 in 10 of those in the regular Army thought the U.S. should leave Iraq in the next year.
# About 3/4 of those in National Guard and Reserve units favor withdrawal within six months, just 15% of Marines felt that way.
# About 50% of those in the regular Army favored withdrawal from Iraq in the next six months.
And that poll was taken two years ago. Do you think the troops serving in Iraq are unpatriotic lefties? Good, we can agree that it is factually inaccurate to smear opponents of war as unpatriotic lefties. Stop doing it.

Pipeline? Poll?
They don’t even rhyme.
… and from 2006 … *blink*
The it’s-all-about-oil idiots haven’t noticed that at the pump we sure aren’t being given a break for all of the oil we are stealing from Iraq. Another of their sacred lefty myths that Saddam wasn’t working on a nuke program got hammered by the AP yesterday.
Even when facts slap these morons on the nose don’t expect the deliberately uncurious and poorly informed to correct their sacred myths.
Conc….the item is about Afghanistan….not Iraq. Get a grip…and an atlas.
Conc, I can get you a poll that says you are full of doggy doodoo for even mentioning a (highly questionable) poll that is over two years old, 19 times out of 20.
The gang at Zogby seems to produce what the funder of the poll (Le Moyne College’s Center for Peace and Global Studies) wants. I doubt if any of the 1215 troops that re-enlisted in Iraq on the 4th of July were polled about it.
Just my thoughts.
The only oil that’s produced IN Afghanistan is hash oil.
Tex:
The Iraq situation has drastically changed in the past two years. Too bad our friend Conc is unable to progress from ancient history.
And that poll was taken two years ago.
Besides cherry picking some stale and not necessarily reliable two year old poll which might as well be two decades old in the fast pace of change in Iraq, what kind of grade in any class would you expect for research that pathetic?
Get real indeed!
We will stop calling American socialists unpatriotic when they start being patriotic!

Please provide proof that ‘half the Conservative Party supporters oppose the Afghanistan mission’.
Apart from the fact that this thread is about Afghanistan, your poll questions seem invalid:
And Zogby’s polls, as you know, aren’t always accurate, including his prediction of Kerry’s presidential win.
But – the above questions, as I said, are invalid:
For example:mission is ‘clear’ vs’ role is hazy’ are unacceptable in a question; too vague.
Terms such as ‘plurality’ and ‘majority’ are unacceptable as conclusions as they are vague.
(could be 6/10).
Percentage references to marines, guards etc are invalid, because the poll doesn’t inform us how many in each section were questioned.
With regard to ‘Saddam’s role in 9/11’ – without informing us of the exact question, this is an invalid response.
I suggest that you read a book on How To Life With Statistics. Darrell Huff. There’s also some neat books on invalid polls, by your questions being biased, ambiguous. Or by your sample population being skewed.
Oh, and the pipeline is a pipe-dream; there are cheaper and better ways. Oh, and the Iraq war ended several years ago. What’s going on now in Iraq is that the US and others (Ausralia, UK etc) are helping Iraq strengthen itself as a democracy. But you don’t care about that, do you, conc. You aren’t interested in helping the Iraqi people achieve such a goal. Oh well. Takes all types.
correct title is How to LIE with statistics. Sorry.
Hmmm. a post about the situation in Afghanistan gets a lengthy post from a Tard ranting about polls on Iraq…!
Stupid troll.
the pipeline they ae bablling about is proposed and may not be built as another pipeline through Iran to Pakistan might go ahead instead.

Nice Poll conducted by Zogby International and LeMoyne College’- Anyone say ‘Agenda-Driven Polling Par Excellance?’
Your polsters are so far left they make Castro look like a capitalist pig! No bias or questionable results interpretation here folks, nothing to see, move on, nothing to see…….
Afghanistan: The solution
1. Arm and train the population
2. Seal the borders
Bring our troops home and ship our Muslims back.
Conc,I’m pressed for time right now so I’ll be brief. You’ve been eating the cherries you’ve been picking and it’s evident you’ve choked.
Nice try but you’ve proven you’re just plain full of shit.
JP @ 5:19 PM, you’ve got the solution.
why do lefties dressed as righties become news on our billion a year subsidized , CBCpravda.

CBCpravda All Crap, All the Time.
The whole bloody point is that Lawrence Martin rants on about an oil pipeline through Afstan when in fact the only pipeline being planned is one for natural gas. When a senior columnist in the Globe and Mail cannot get even basic facts right…Hurl.

Good God Penny, take 5 minutes and read something about Iraq’s past nuclear program before spouting nonsense. That yellowcake is decades old, and ultimately debunks Bush’s notion that Iraq was trying to buy yellowcake from Nigeria, since he already had 550 tons of it sitting around for him to use whenever he pleased.
