Yes, Mr. Porter, you silly man
If you can’t see that Kate’s brilliant mash-up of two youtube videos (and let’s all applaud Kate for her hard work and intellectual acuity in seeing the obvious similarities and posting them here with the direction: ‘one with sound on, one with sound off!’), I mean if you can’t see the point of it is that Obama’s *followers* are like Hitler’s *followers*, well, hell, man, you must be intellectually *lazy*, or intentionally obtuse!
“A pathetic reflection on Canadian conservatives”? Bah! Get with the program, Porter!
Yes Volik, Mr. Porter seem to miss the point, it is about the narcissism of the “volk”, the followers. Perhaps Mr. Potter can not get passed a juxtaposition of an German national socialist with a Black racialist socialist. Or perhaps the ironic pairing of a militarist with connections to anti-Semitic groups and an appeaser with connections to anti-Semitic groups is hard to fathom.
I think we have to commend Kate for this wonderful presentation.
We Are the Ones
Juxtaposed with
Ich Bin – (in German)
I am – (in English)
It even seems to work as sort of “call and response”, antiphon and fugue … a dialectic between followers and leader …
BTW I’m not Canadian so Volik you should have to worry about taking the heat for my comments 😉
Yes, Mike O’Malley
Mr. Porter *did* miss the point, didn’t he? He likely couldn’t fathom the idea of an appeaser with connections to anti-Semites any more than one can fathom the likes of McCain with his connections to anti-Semites (John Hagee) or the Bushes’ connections with anti-semites (Rev. Sun Myung Moon).
Silly Mr. Porter can’t appreciate the new cutting edge of conservative thought as exemplified by Kate’s use of Nazi footage and her recent mocking of the Holocaust. What a dolt!
Kate, do you really think that I am being intellectually lazy? Do you really believe that putting an Obama video next to Hitler isn’t saying “look, they’re doing the same thing!” It doesn’t matter if you think you are making a sly comment about Obama’s advertising, you put his video next to a video of Adolf Hitler. The fact that you cannot fathom why people might find that offensive, ignorant and just plain stupid says it all.
You know, Robert, the pathetic aspect of your ad hominem (because you haven’t provided an argument that my comparison was a false one) is that a number of readers did make the connection, wrote about it, and I actually acknowledged that higher in the thread.
So, perhaps it’s unfair to narrow in on your “intellect” when it appears that a more general laziness may be to blame here.

Your comparison is false. Can pretend that there is a vast comparison between the videos? If you take some time to learn about the rise of Hitler and Third Reich you will know why the comparison just doesn’t follow.
Sure there is a slight similarity in the chanting, but aside from that, what is there? Obama is not advocating the hatred of one ethnic group. He isn’t advocating a strong military presence. He isn’t advocating an ultra-nationalist program.
Is there an attachment to the personality of Obama? Sure. But that doesn’t have any resemblance to Goebbels’ propaganda. Would you say that Kennedy and Trudeau were following Nazi ideas? Surely not. Was the “Four More Years!” chant for Bush also reminiscent of the Nazis?
The comparison is unfair and offensive. When Obama’s campaign starts deliberately targeting issues like that and presenting Obama as the only answer, get back to me.
When his Sturmabteilung starts throwing people in concentration camps, tell me. A music video with a choir chanting does not a fascist make.
Sturmabteilung?
concentration camps?
At this point the Dali Obama comes across to me as an elitist red-diaper baby who does well for himself in the dirtier end of notorious Chicago Democrat Party politics. However, I don’t see him having the stuff it takes to make it as a Fuhrer. Could Barry Hussein Obama make it as a Nevil Chamberlain? Yes, it seems likely. But then I haven’t read his ode to his absent father yet so my view of Obamamessiah is evolving.
That said Mr. Porter, you could do a little research. Some number of Barry Hussein Obama’s long time supporters do advocate parallel institutions with older names such as jihad, Ummah, jizya and dhimmi.
“… the Bushes’ connections with anti-semites (Rev. Sun Myung Moon)”?
LOL Volik
Now that would seen to be weak tea compared to the Bushes’ connections to the Saudis! However, I’d guess that healthy intellects would sense the cognitive dissonance of pegging George W. Bush as a Israeli Zionist Cabal and “neocon” enabler and a tool of the anti-Semitic Saudis too boot!
LOL
Oh I see what you did there! You said Barak Hussein Obama. See, he’s a Muslim!!!
I have done my research. You’re the one ranting and raving about Obama and his supposed appeasing of Islamic terrorism. You can disagree with his take on the war, but to argue that he’s going to bow down to the Middle East is stupid and part of the unsubstantiated right-wing conspiracy.
Americans do need to segregate and divide the US land mass in half – East to West with a huge Israeli border fence separating it.
The northern half of the “new” America should be occupied by the conservative right, cleansed of any freeloading hippies, sexual deviants or other leftist dependants now deported to the south. The southern half would be infested with the lefty liberal’s lead by their socialist caregiver and entitlement champion Obama Barak.
The left would then be free to do what they wish, and would have all the latitude and freedom they require to feel victimized and share their new desert of thoughts and ideas of hope & change with their third world counterparts.
Americans now living in the north would have the all security they desire along with freedoms of expression and “American” culture that they genuinely would respect and preserve.
Guaranteed this time around the fence would hold.
What would be interesting, is a poll conducted across the US today to gauge peoples reaction to this idea, how many right minded conservatives would agree to the idea, in proportion to the left? I think we all know the answer to that question.
