It is the *ideas* that are important, and the individual politician is only important to the extent that he implements those ideas which are useful and abandons those that are not. From what I have seen of Obama, there are only empty slogans and no ideas. For Hilary! there are only ideas which are not useful (except to the bigwigs in the Democrat party). And I really haven’t seen a lot in the way of ideas from McCain either.

There is no question in my mind of a certain animosity toward definable groups that make up American society. (Granted my statement is a bit sanctimonious). Those who have an acute sense of what people are really about, often have a tough row to hoe. For the majority could be almost literally cold shouldered by their hero/s. It does not fizz on them at this time.
I find that the working class very often bear the brunt of someone’s angst against society. While they- this class, do not have much to do with the running of the system, they are the easiest target.

I (and Kate, obviously) are not suggesting Mr. Obama is a Nazi, based on one video. Because, you know, that would be silly.
No, what I (and Kate, obviously) are remarking on is that Leni Reifenstahl could have made that video. It uses all her techniques and then some. This guy’s whole campaign is a Reifenstahlesque propaganda exercise.
The reason for doing that is they have nothing to talk about. Either you don’t actually have any convictions or plans, or you do but you know people won’t vote for them.
IMHO, Obama fits in the first category. He’s an empty suit riding a wave of PC populism, mostly because he like being on TV and when you’re the President you get to be on TV lots and lots. That’s a job for Leni.
Hillary Clinton is clearly in category two. Nobody would vote for nationalizing the entire US medical system, and that’s just one of the things she’s got planned. Another job for Leni.

Although Ed Minchau has a point above (to wit, there had to be a Carter in the White House before Reagan came along), it’s too troubling to think of the damage obama could cause in the interim.
It’s a toss-up between obama and hillary clinton as to who is most inexperienced to be POTUS; but I’m more concerned with obama’s “cult of personality” and what it’s precipitating: already the RNC is advising members to ix-nay on the ussein-hay iddle name-may, and there’s no telling what else will be out of bounds with the fear of liberal “racism” backlash against any criticism of obama. The repubs better get it together; you can slam obama’s policies/voting record/lack of substance to the ground quite easily while avoiding any “racist” labelling: he’s a hard-left socialist and disturbingly naive on how to deal with national security and international issues.
Limbaugh has a great point: should this novice win the white house, then liberal pc-ism will prevent any criticism of his governance as detractors will be afraid of the “racist” label.
Myself, I am much more concerned with this election than whatever happens in Canada. Even if the liberals came to power again (shudder-r-r), this would at worst only destroy canada. Obama’s election could have negative impact on the world.

I have considered carefully etc. The persons involved in the campaign for the presidency. Indeed the wife of Barack Obama included.
There is no question in my mind of a certain animosity toward definable groups that make up American society. (Granted my statement is a bit sanctimonious). Those who have an acute sense of what people are really about, often have a tough row to hoe. For the majority could be almost literally cold shouldered by their hero/s. It does not fizz on them at this time.
I find that the working class very often bear the brunt of someone’s angst against society. While they- this class, do not have much to do with the running of the system, they are the easiest target.
Any working class person and lower middle-class white person may well be the first to get the wrong end of the wedge.
This woman, Michelle Obama is a disturbed person. I pity the group of persons who get in the way of her repaying the ” have nots”.

Fsasf, well, wrt Obama, while one will reasonably have the concern that Obama might well be racist, I wouldn’t simplify it to just Caucasophobia on the part of Obama and the Obamites. There’s much more to him than meets the eye, which I mentioned in an earlier comment on this thread.
You know, Hillary has more obvious baggage, and the MSM may be much more willing to make a stink about it than about Obama’s baggage. So, if we want to see our preferred guy McCain the Republican be the President, it makes sense to, right now, scrutinize and expose findings about things about Obama that reasonable people will find very worrisome. Doing so will help Democrats make a more informed decision and hopefully pick Hillary, whom many believe would be more easily beaten as it’s not as politically incorrect to go after a Clinton, even the female one, as it is to go after Obama, simply cos going after darker-skinned folks tends to bring retaliatory accusations of “racist” and “bigot” even though one is merely pointing out facts that matter to Americans and nothing else. Surely, it’s germane to point to a presidential nomination candidate’s past utterances, for example, about promising to “side with Islam if politcs gets ugly” and about “feeling good hating his mother’s race” and so on… this stuff is found in the books he himself wrote.

I personally don’t think it’s a matter of Obama being racist or not (I personally take it for assured that he is) it is really a matter of the hordes of believers within the USA and the greater world, and what they accept and expect him to be.
The bulk of the black population within the US and the greater hordes of fanatical Muslims throughout the world (particularly in high density poverty stricken areas) see Obama as a second coming of a Messiah coupled with a profound change in the USA (the evil empire) that will finally allow them the riches and respect they deserve.
