NAFTA, shafta….

OBAMA’S NAFTA DOUBLE-TALK confirmed. “After reporting on Barack Obama’s dance with the Canadians on NAFTA yesterday, Canadian broadcaster CTV got accused of perpetrating a smear against the Democratic front-runner. They insisted that Obama meant every word he said about overturning the free-trade treaty, and that no one had contacted the Canadian diplomatic corps to reassure them that it was mere demagoguery. CTV responded today by naming names — and suddenly the Obama campaign has grown quiet.” More here from ABC News.

  1. So Democratic front runner Obama says what he doesn’t mean? How can we tell what the hell he stands for then if it’s down that?
    It’s kind of a serious ambition to want the job of President of the United States with an ‘ah shucks, I’m just bamboozling and foolin’ around attitude.
    It will give the voters of America a clearer choice to get the government they deserve.

  4. Not only busted, but busted by the second most left leaning media outfit in Canada: CTV. I’ve heard Obama be described as a “liberal’s liberal” by someone on Glenn Beck, and for CTV to do chase after this story, well, it’s like the left eating it’s own.
    Or, as a friend of mine said, “the stars are right!”

  6. Per the CTV item “The operative said it was just campaign rhetoric not to be taken seriously.” Makes one wonder just what else Obama says that we can’t believe.
    Does Obama’s campaign have secret hotline to Stephane Dion’s office where he can get tips on making a total ass of himself?

  10. Obama is a punk kid who is an embarrassment to the United States.
    Here he is just running for the nomination of the Democratic Party, and he’s already trying to injure Canadian-American relations.
    A few months back he wanted to take out the leader of Pakistan, currently an ally.
    Clearly, this little punk is not ready to take on the mature responsibilities of running the United States government.
    What’s he going to do next? Get us into a war with New Zealand??

  11. What amazes me about this story is how quickly CTV revealed their sources. I find that odd behaviour because normally reporters refuse to name names without severe punishment being threatened.

  12. jwl: Traditionally jounalists don’t reveal their sources because they want them to continue to be sources. In this situation CTV probably doesn’t really care about these sources and because of the suggestion of the smear it is far more valuable for them to reveal.

  15. To me, it is laughable how CTV is so proud of this story while it still seems like this is getting no play in any major American news outlets. Get a grip CTV. As much as you would like acknowledgment from real news outlets, you don’t need to keep patting yourselves on the back.
    As for the substance, both dems’ positions on NAFTA are pretty damn stupid. To think that NAFTA is the result of all those lost manufacturing jobs and not better production methods/China is just wrong.

  30. The problem for Obama is that in reality the Browns (excuse my language I don’t know if browns is PC?) don’t really care for the Negro much and the Negro doesn’t like the browns (sorry again). See what’s happening in California – they’re killing each other for the right to walk down certain streets…I don’t personally think Obama represents the other races much, except for possibly the fags & the Liberals?

  38. The next three days are going to get real interesting for the Dems. Well, the rest of us, too. Hillary is going to have to pull out all the stops where it concerns Obama. She will be writing a lot of the ads for the right.
    As to Obama, there are some things that become obvious. He parses words as well as Bill Clinton. He cries foul as easily as Hillary Rodman. He is a good speaker in an empty suit. But of course that is obvious to all but his groupies and the extreme-left libs.
    So, is it less than PC for me to state, or question, the obvious?
    His middle name IS Hussien. That IS a fact. If he is offended when someone points that out, or if he doesn’t like his middle name, then he should have gone to court and changed it. If it isn’t his middle name, he should tell me that.
    He IS black. If it is wrong for me to mention that he is black then he should tell me why. If he is some other color then he should tell me what color he is. Until then he IS black.
    He is ultra liberal. If he wants me to believe he is something else then he should define what that something else is. Otherwise, is IS ultra-liberal.
    When it comes right down to it he is just as unelectable as Hillary. The voters will not elect another Clinton. The voters will not elect an ultra-liberal black. It is that simple.
    Obama misreads the general public in one very serious way. Being ani-war IS NOT THE SAME as being anti-defense. Obama is anti-war, anti-military and anti-defense. The general public, and more importantly the general voter, is not all of those.
    Obama misreads the Dem base. They may say they will vote for a black. They may answer the exit poll in such a way that says they voted for a black. But when the actual vote is counted it is discovered that a majority poked the button next to a different name. ( I am not a racist, but overall in the privacy of the voting booth the Democratic party is; they have proven it many times in the past.)
    The Dem primary is worlds different than the general election. The southern white Democrat will not vote for a black in this general election. All of the anti-war voters will not vote for an anti-defense, anti-military far left liberal.
    No matter what Obama says to the cheering crowds in Ohio about NAFTA, or in Texas about illegal immigration, when the votes are finally counted in the general election his fawning, breathless groupies will not be a large enough vote to have overcome the thinking American who has heard him unravel between September and November.
    It is amazing to me that the last two Dems standing, Hillary and Obama, are unelectable. Much of the Democratic machine are beginning to realize that, and real concern is setting in behind the curtain.

  40. If Obama thinks people are being too tough on him right now, what’s he going to do when he secures the Democrat nomination?
    This is a walk in the park compared to the scrutiny he will face then. As for the black vote, my understanding is Democrats garner about 80% right now. Is Obama going to get that to 100%? Not likely.
    McCain is an experienced, moderate politician with a track record, and is a war hero to boot. That may be meaningless in Canada, but it’s real important in US. Let’s not forget the ill-fated John Kerry “reporting for duty” nonsense.
    IMO, the only chance Obama has is with HRC as his running mate. I don’t think she will agree, though; not just because she has a big ego (nothing wrong with that) and doesn’t want to play second fiddle. No, she may want to take another run at it in 2012. If she signs onto his ticket, and loses, then that hurts her later chances. If he wins, then she can’t credibly challenge an incumbent president in ’12.
    We will see, but I hereby predict John McCain will be the next President of USA. On va voir.
