Hey, zog, most ME countries have a water problem due to being an arid desert in most areas with a large increase in population over the decades. Ring a bell with you? The West Bank sits on a large aquifer. The Israelis have the resources and capital to draw from it efficiently.
The Palestinians have piddled away their aid money on war supplies. They mismanage what resources they have. From a USAID site:
Palestinian ground water supplies have increasingly become polluted as a result of agricultural chemicals, inadequate sewage treatment, and over-pumping of wells. Untreated sewage is dumped in valleys and the Mediterranean Sea, polluting the ground water, sea, soil and coastline.
Jordan signed a water treaty with Israel. Maybe the Palestinians need to put down their weapons and take care of basic priorities like civil societies do.
How about a link to a major MSM story on the olive tree destruction, something other than from pro-Palestinian sites which alledge this without third party verification?
Bravo Zog–and any access to water is controlled by Israel. Water on Palestinian lands is allowed to the Palestinians only after the Israelis have taken everything they need.

No, I don’t have a list of references nor do I intend to construct one. I watch the teevee every evening and read a couple of daily papers. There have been numerous references to this stuff during the last few years, complete with pictures and, unless you live in a cave, I don’t believe that you haven’t seen any of them.
And Penny, it’s quite possible to be sympathetic to Israel without falling into the trap of saying, “Israel can do no wrong.”

It is pretty clear that it is not land the Palistinians want. Their main goal is to destroy Israel. and kill all Jews. Why anyone is even pretending any different is ludicrous.
So what is the civilized world to do with that? Even if the western world said “hey go ahead destroy Israel, kill all the Jews.” Is there anyone with an iq over 50 who believes that would appease the Palistinian barbaric religious nature?

Zog, the thing about an aquifer that strattles two populations, it’s a neutral resource. They’ve both got water under their feet. With all of the decades of aid money surely the Palestinian Authority could have used a little to solve their water problem. The idiots have looted the aid providers and their own people or is that too difficult for you to figure out.

Israel obtains roughly 40 percent of its water from the Sea of Galilee and the Coastal Aquifer, both of which are entirely within Israel’s pre-1967 borders. Another 30 percent comes from the Western and Northeastern Aquifers of the Mountain Aquifer system. These two aquifers straddle the Green Line that separates Israel from the West Bank, but most of the stored water is under pre-1967 Israel, making it easily accessible only in Israel.
Agreements between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs included discussion of water resources and responsibilities for them. Prior to the Oslo agreements, when Israel had full control of the West Bank, Israel’s policy was to ensure a safe supply of drinking water for all inhabitants, although some Palestinian Arab communities refused to be hooked up to the Israeli-built system for political reasons. Annex III, Article 40 of the Oslo II agreement stipulates an increase of water for Palestinian use and sets forth the details of measures each side is to take to achieve this increased water supply. Two-thirds of the increase was to be developed by the Palestinians, one-third by Israel.
After Oslo II, Israel moved expeditiously to fulfill its side of the water development, but the Palestinian Authority (PA) has severely neglected its obligations. In some locations, nothing was done. In other cases, Israel produced wells but the PA did not build the pipes to carry the water to Palestinian Arab consumers. The PA has not repaired antiquated and corroded pipes which cause significant water losses. In line with other corruption rampant in PA-controlled areas, there is considerable theft of water. Water trucks tap the resource illegally from water mains, then sell the water to thirsty customers.
40 MCM (million cubic meters) of water per year from sources within Israel is piped over the Green Line for Palestinian use and additional water is sent to Jordan. Ramallah, for example, receives over 5 MCM annually from Israeli sources. The Palestinians are using Israeli water, not the other way around.
How do you introduce civilization to the followers of islam? Their religion has not let the majority of its followers evolve. A religion that proclaims the killing of jews and infidels is a holy virtue. How is any civilized country suppose to approach that? You would have to rip their belief system from under their feet. They know nothing except how to hate and kill. Not much you can do with that.

Historically this kind of cultural intransigence has been dealt with as follows.
1) Western peaceniks and other government issue morons make all kinds of concessions to the badly behaved culture, which of course is emboldened by all this squishy diplomacy and declares war.
2)We (meaning the Silent Majority of the Western nations) let them win for a while before we twig a brain cell that this is serious. (Hasn’t happened yet with the Islamofascisti.)
3)We fight their armies right back to their capital city, destroy their entire industrial infrastructure and sometimes drop a nuke or two on ’em.
4)We spend billions fixing all the stuff we broke.
5)We put in large, friendly military bases for mutual defense and NEVER LEAVE.
Worked awesome on the Germans, Japanese and South Koreans. Currently working pretty well in Iraq and Afghanistan. (Note that Russia and Chicomland remain a problem because we didn’t kick their asses hard enough yet, and we don’t have mutual defense bases in their territory.)
Thus, if we go paste the Iranians and Syrians with a nice two week blitzkrieg followed by some rebuilding and oh incidentally lifting the foot of tyranny off the necks of the citizenry, things should go along swimingly. If not, rinse and repeat.
