Shields Up!

Feminist head explosions on the port side…

“I want to launch a call to all those in the world who believe in the values of tolerance, of liberty, of democacy and of humanism, to all those who are persecuted by the tyrannies and by the dictators, to all the children and to all the martyrized women in the world to say to them that the pride, the duty of France will at their sides, that they can count on her.”
“France will be at the sides of the Libyan nurses locked up for eight years; France will not abandon Ingrid Betancourt; France will not abandon the women who are condemned to the burqa; France will not abandon the women who do not have liberty. France will be by the side of the oppressed of the world. This is the message of France; this is the identity of France; this is the history of France.”

  1. Will he be at the side of all those cars treated to a marshmallow toasting?

  2. civil war coming to France soon….no way on earth that the extremist muslims are going to let go of their dream….the caliphate….look out, I hope he has the backbone, and the military has the firepower, because it is going to get bloody!

  3. This guy is no right wing extremist he has clascic liberal ideals….be interesting to see if he can act on them in a society degenerated by 50 years of Franco-socialist indulgence…or a homogenized culture that has been radicalized by immigration.

  4. Looks like all the surrender monkeys are on the Left side in France. Say it, then DO it!
Our Federal Conservatives could stand to do some Doing right about now. Maybe keep your promise on the gun registry and some TAX CUTS!!!

  5. Well, there go some more cars. Wouldn’t be a bad time to be a guy exporting cars to France.

  6. Well you franco ninny surrender monkeys, maybe its put up or shut up time.

  7. Mr. Sarkozy is about to become the target of assassins. Let’s hope they don’t succeed. He is the first French politician to challenge the Muslim culture, they won’t take it well.

I rather suspect that St. Jeanne d’Arc may have a few additional instructive words to say on the subject of liberation.

  9. France will not abandon the women who are condemned to the burqa….
Good for Sarkozy, he’s thrown it right out there and fast. He’s defined the problem and the dysfunctional group. He is principled. I hope no one is missing the irony that Royal, France’s would have been first woman president, who captured the Muslim vote by spineless groveling, could never champion rights for Muslim women if she was elected.
Royal’s feminist principles, typically, were shallow and expendable.
This doesn’t bode well for Hillary Clinton.
Maybe my boycott of all things French will end this year.

  11. The unemployed immigrant youth of France are doing ALGORE a favour by torching all those CO2 belching 4-wheelers.

  12. I predict France will soon open it’s doors to it’s immigrants…and sweep out the ones that won’t integrate back to the brutally oppressive uni-cultural sources from whence they came.
Things are about to become much tougher for the big bad wolf in mainland European countries. The little pigs may have figured out how to build with bricks. Britain’s another straw filled story.

  13. Was France’s history also to pillage its colonies before granting them independence? We know they abandoned the French-Canadians at the Plains of Abraham and sold out their citizens when the sold Louisiana and walked away from Quebec. What makes his statement trustworthy?

  14. France will be by the side of the oppressed of the world. This is the message of France; this is the identity of France; this is the history of France.
That’s a nice sounding message if it weren’t for that last part. That is certainly not the history of France, but would be a very welcome initiative if it is now the policy of France.
I wish Sarkozy luck, but he will face unbelievable hostility from the entire French establishment. It’s quite possible they’ll have a hate on for him even worse than they currently have for Bush.

  15. Blair, Harper, and likely Bush would never have so openly criticized the Islamists in the way Sarkozy has. The burqa comment is surprisingly assertive.
Sometimes a lot of cars have to burn before the impetus is available to improve things.
Charlemagne and Charles “The Hammer” Martel would agree that France has made some baby steps.

  16. John Conway must have been beside himself when he heard such a Classical Liberal/Anti-Authoritarian type of speech

  17. Bold words, “les mots justes” indeed. Now lets watch for the deeds to match.
It’d be wonderful for France, for Europe, for the whole West, if the French have elected themselves a Thatcheresque or Reaganesque President.

  18. Reading his words in french and imagining his gallic intonations gives me goosebumps. Vive Sarkozy et Vive la France!

  19. A friend said the other day, “France is always talking about honour … but has none”.
Wow, “condemned to the Burqa”. That is an enormously courageous statement and in fact very accurate; one suspects that a very large percentage of these women are burqa-clad under duress. If against such enormous odds he succeeds, this could be right up there with the spine-tingling “Mr. Gorachev … tear down this wall” (choked just typing it).
And Bart F is indeed correct. Neither Harper, nor Bush, nor Blair had the guts to say this. Blair, in fact, has described Islam as “progressive” (based on his bedside kwik-scan of the Koran). But of course, Harper is hamstrung by a minority government, after which he will be hamstrung by needing to maintain a majority government, after which he will be hamstrung by needing to maintain a large majority government …. (thanks to Mulroney???)

  20. Yeah, but France is getting “Little Mosque on the Prairie”. That’ll teach ’em.

  21. I wish France luck. I what Napoleon said of the Crown in 1814…
“I did not steal the crown. I found it. In the gutter. And I picked it up, with my sword.”
Hopefully, before it is too late, we in the rest of the western world will also find a leader that will have the courage to stand up to the Islamic hordes who so openly and so often express their intention to wipe us all off the face of the earth. Jack Layton, before you get all excited, don’t even bother applying because you couldn’t even polish a warriors sword let alone carry it.

  22. Ross:
Napoleon also had some reflections on his adventures the following is instructive:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon
“When conversing, as was his habit, about the great men of the ancient world, and comparing himself with them, he turned, it is said, to Count Montholon with the enquiry, “Can you tell me who Jesus Christ was?” The question was declined, and Napoleon proceeded, “Well, then, I will tell you. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I myself have founded great empires; but upon what did these creations of our genius depend? Upon force. Jesus alone founded His empire upon love, and to this very day millions would die for Him. . . . I think I understand something of human nature; and I tell you, all these were men, and I am a man: none else is like Him; Jesus Christ was more than man. I have inspired multitudes with such an enthusiastic devotion that they would have died for me, . . but to do this it was necessary that I should be visibly present with the electric influence of my looks, of my words, of my voice. When I saw men and spoke to them, I lighted up the flame of self-devotion in their hearts. . . . Christ alone has succeeded in so raising the mind of man towards the Unseen, that it becomes insensible to the barriers of time and space. Across a chasm of eighteen hundred years, Jesus Christ makes a demand which is beyond all others difficult to satisfy; He asks for that which a philosopher may often seek in vain at the hands of his friends, or a father of his children, or a bride of her spouse, or a man of his brother. He asks for the human heart; He will have it entirely to Himself. He demands it unconditionally; and forthwith His demand is granted. Wonderful! In defiance of time and space, the soul of man, with all its powers and faculties, becomes an annexation to the empire of Christ. All who sincerely believe in Him, experience that remarkable supernatural love towards Him. This phenomenon is unaccountable; it is altogether beyond the scope of man’s creative powers. Time, the great destroyer, is powerless to extinguish this sacred flame; time can neither exhaust its strength nor put a limit to its range. This is it which strikes me most; I have often thought of it. This it is which proves to me quite convincingly the Divinity of Jesus Christ.”
A rather compelling endorsement from someone who polished off not a few swords.

  23. I can already hear a bunch of lefties calling Him a french facist.Well maybe it takes someone like that to beat the islamo facists!

  24. Load’em on a boat, to the middle of the sea and blow up the hull, Sarko! That will make peace in Europe for the decades to come.

  25. that was quite the incoherent statement. how can you at once argue for “liberty” while subsequently asserting that muslim women cannot wear the burqa??? whatever happened to freedom of choice??? how can you argue for “tolerance” (that must have really pissed off the blogging tories; along with “equality” and “innovation” and “progress”, “tolerance” is heretical) while asserting that a certain group in society will not be allowed to wear clothing that affirms their religious beliefs??? what’s next, “nuns will not be condemned to a life of wearing veils”???

  26. aaron stated:
“Load’em on a boat, to the middle of the sea and blow up the hull, Sarko! That will make peace in Europe for the decades to come”
is that your “final solution” aaron??? you fucking psychopath!

  27. No, I’d personally ordered police to fire live ammo on all the rioting scum first to reduce the required number of boats. If you come to a foreign country as an immigrant or refugee, get a job, run a business, or at least keep low profile. They came and decided to riot. It’s BS that the ‘French born’ are rioting. Parents who bring up their kids with the idea that they can riot because they are now French are the same sort of scum as the rioters themselves.

  28. And you are wrong in your blabbering about tolerance. He said that he will not abandon those, who are confined to a burka – as in ‘forced’, you know.

  29. My heart goes out to Sarkozy, if you think Bush and Harper have been railroaded by the press, you not see anything yet. The French MSM is more rabidly lefty, if that can be imagined, than the creeps here in NA. It was a fair and square election and yet the dimwits on the left keep up the (name any conservative election winner)=Hitler mantra that infects us here. Stupid. Watch for increasing collaboration of the lefties with the Islamofascists. God, would I love to puts those twits in burqas.
Sarkozy’s victory gives Merkel a compadre, maybe this will turn the tide in the EU. I’m not counting chickens before they hatch, this is weasel France and increasingly anti-democracy Brussels after all.
As the Titanic sunk they band kept playing, literally. Are we seeing some glimmer of hope that Europe is pulling out of the decline, will reverse encrouching Eurabia? Have the French finally figured out they don’t have that many chances left? I hope so for all of us.

  30. Two of the brothers in the foiled Fort Dix attack were illegally brought into the U.S. in 1984…as babies:
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270892,00.html
The concerning thought is the men may have already been marked for suicide missions when they were smuggled in as babies.
The Mo-Mickey (linked in my previous comment) definitely shows that Islamic extremists place premium importance on programming future soldiers to their cause as young as possible.
The Western violence from Islamic extremism may have been widely and intentionally planted years ago. Now we get to enjoy the harvest and France has a bumper crop.

  31. Then we just need to build a better ‘mouse trap’.
    As GK Chesterton once observed:
“It’s not that we don’t have enough scoundrels to curse; it’s that we don’t have enough good men to curse them.” – ILN, 3/14/08

  32. On a related note, David Warren has an excellent article in today’s Ottawa Citizen, excerpt:
“I read speeches by politicians of all stripes. I have found this to be the antidote to much media misreporting.
An example would be the victory speech of Nicolas Sarkozy, president-elect of France. I like him better than the rival he defeated. He has a reputation for courage that is interesting. He faces an impossible situation in France, where a dysfunctional state continues to offer social services the electorate cannot afford, for fear of violent resistance from the state’s established beneficiaries. Mr. Sarkozy has been demonized in advance by the leftists and Islamists. Good luck to him.
Will he prove a Thatcher or a Reagan? The following excerpt from his victory speech convinces me that he will not:

“I want to issue an appeal to our American friends, to tell them that they can count on our friendship, which has been forged in the tragedies of history which we have faced together. I want to tell them that France will always be by their side when they need it, but I also want to tell them that friendship means accepting that your friends may think differently and that a great nation such as the United States has a duty not to put obstacles in the way of the fight against global warming, but on the contrary to take the lead in this fight, because what is at stake is the fate of humanity as a whole. France will make this battle its primary battle.”

I have written before in these pages that “global warming” is a great imposture and fraud that will, a generation from now, look like the Club of Rome forecasts for a generation ago. That aside, it is tremendously consequential: not because the predictions are plausible (they are based on computer modelling, which cannot even tell you reliably what the weather will be next week), but because it offers a “window of impunity” to vastly increase the scope of government. That is why, all over the world, politicians have scrambled aboard the climate-change bandwagon even more enthusiastically than the media.”

  33. As predicted, feminist head explodes. lol
…how can you argue for “tolerance” (that must have really pissed off the blogging tories; along with “equality” and “innovation” and “progress”, “tolerance” is heretical) while asserting that a certain group in society will not be allowed to wear clothing that affirms their religious beliefs??? what’s next, “nuns will not be condemned to a life of wearing veils”???

France will be by the side of the oppressed of the world. This is the message of France; this is the identity of France; this is the history of France.”
I was a little bit suspicious of the translation of Sarkozy’s speech, so I found the original text and fed it into an online translator. Then for the hell of it I translated it back into French, then back into English a second time. It came out like this:
“France knows that a really big domestic welfare state is great, but France has nearly squeezed all the juice out of that pineapple. So France will make its government bigger through warfare and foreign welfare. France will not give up oppressing people. This is the history of France.”

  35. Their are very few nuns in religious clothing any more, finding a nun in a habit is like finding a fossil nowadays. The point being that times change. Modern religious entities in the west haven’t lost their footing inside secular democracies.
Burqas aren’t about piety – no mandate for them in the Koran – they are about macho loser males and power. Sarkozy gets it.

  36. Penny, you should have heard of this one by now:
HELP A NUN TODAY, KICK HER HABIT!!
    🙂 🙂 🙂

  37. Read the book “Inside The Kingdom” by Carmen Bin Laden. She was the wife of one of Osama’s brothers. A great look at a western women who married into the Saudi crowd. She eventually left Saudi Arabia only because she got permission from a male relative her husband was out of the country on business. (women don’t have rights to travel out of the country and she really wanted to get out to get her 2 daughters out of the regime.
As I read in her book her daughters attended school because she insisted, females usually don’t have a right to go to school. After a schoolday she looked at one of her daughters notebooks and it said that they were to eliminate the Jews. When she questioned her daughters on this they didn’t even know what a Jew was.
The brainwashing starts in elementrary school.
Look at Iran they have invoked no schooling for females and for males the total curriculum is religious studies…Brainwashing.
Islam, the tribes of Saudi Arabia and all the other …Stan countries will not enter into the 21’st century until they really and I mean really recognise the equaity of women. Until they do they will always be at odds with the west as we know it.

You haven’t rented “Sister Act” lately?
Perhaps a case of keep thy Trappist shut?
Actually, I’ve told that one to a nun or two and got a good chuckle.

If you want God to laugh, tell HIM YOUR plans.
Irony is understood as an aesthetic valuation by an audience, which relies on a sharp discordance between the real and the ideal, and which is variously applied to texts, speech, events, acts, and even fashion.
I haven’t met any nuns with ‘bad habits’.
Mother Teresa was a stand up “Sister Act” and I’ve still got her picture on my wall.

  40. I altogether agree with you, Hans.
I really enjoyed your little joke and read it aloud to my husband. As people with a very healthy respect for nuns–in habit or out–we both had a good laugh! Thanks also for your other bons mots on the same topic 😉

  41. It’s priceless to see the canukistanians running when they can’t offer anything but profanities.

  42. that was quite the incoherent statement. how can you at once argue for “liberty” while subsequently asserting that muslim women cannot wear the burqa??? whatever happened to freedom of choice??? how can you argue for “tolerance” (that must have really pissed off the blogging tories; along with “equality” and “innovation” and “progress”, “tolerance” is heretical) while asserting that a certain group in society will not be allowed to wear clothing that affirms their religious beliefs??? what’s next, “nuns will not be condemned to a life of wearing veils”???
Why does the kidnapee fall in love with the kidnapper?
    Brainwashing you fool!
