Feminist head explosions on the port side…
“I want to launch a call to all those in the world who believe in the values of tolerance, of liberty, of democacy and of humanism, to all those who are persecuted by the tyrannies and by the dictators, to all the children and to all the martyrized women in the world to say to them that the pride, the duty of France will at their sides, that they can count on her.”
“France will be at the sides of the Libyan nurses locked up for eight years; France will not abandon Ingrid Betancourt; France will not abandon the women who are condemned to the burqa; France will not abandon the women who do not have liberty. France will be by the side of the oppressed of the world. This is the message of France; this is the identity of France; this is the history of France.”

If a girl wants to wear a burqa, stiletto heels, a corset or a pair of Lululemon flares I’m just fine with that; but if she is beaten or scorned or ostracized if she doesn’t, whether by her community or her family, I want her to have alternatives and a real choice.
Now, if Dad wants his girl to wear her burqa he has a useful alternative to living in Canada, or France, or England or the US…he can find anyone of the Islamoenthusiaist nations and move there. Sadly, if the girl is fairly young she is going to be coerced into moving too. While I am sorry for here I have to say I am rather relieved that Dad and his 12th century Arab cultural fixations are no longer in Canada or the West. We don’t need or want them.
