We Don’t Need No Flaming Sparky Cars

One day after officials touted the passage of the Connecticut Clean Air Act, including plans for thousands of electric vehicles to hit the road, one of the state-run electric buses caught on fire over the weekend.

  1. That’s all just pure oxygen coming from those flames, as it’s a Green Bus. In alignment with the current political environment, only Black oxygen is allowed.

  2. and they will always report on the event only, never the actual cause. “lithium battery fires cannot be extinguished”…but what caused it to ignite? can’t remember the last time a diesel bus caught on fire…

  3. The electric bus fleet was pulled as a precaution … DUH!! Just wait until 10 bus riders are incinerated in one of these bus fires? With video of the riders trying to bust out locked windows as the flames consume them LIVE! … and … the claim … “They’re quieter, they emit no emissions and they last longer,” Giulietti said Friday Really? You know these untried new electric busses will “last longer”? You mean AFTER you replace ALL the batteries in 5-years? You mean because electric vehicles have no cooling system to maintain? Puhleeze.

And just imagine our “clean, green” future of 100% EV’s on the roadways … when all the batteries start dying or becoming too spent to be reliable? Has anyone calculated the cost, both in real $$$ and cost to the environment to be producing ALL the world’s vehicles batteries … all over again?? Not to mention all of the wealthy EV drivers who would never be caught dead driving a 5yo car? But their trade-in EV is near worthless?

  4. “With this type of fire, officials said they have to let it burn because it can’t be extinguished.”

    Nice feature.

    1. We could convert coal-powered generating plants to Tesla-burning power plants.
Imagine all the electricity that could be produced!!!!

  5. BTW … there are a shitload of USED Teslas on the market. However … scan the advertisements and you’ll notice a couple things … a LOT of Teslas with 3+ owners (including lots of corporate fleet cars) … and the main thing in all the used Tesla advertisements!? No mention of battery degradation or capacity whatsoever.

Oh! And all those Supercharger stations they’re excited to build? Supercharging (“fast”) charging your Tesla drains the battery capacity the MOST. To the point where supercharging is NOT recommended. Oh! The “greenies” forgot to tell you that? Long trips in your Tesla MUST be few and far between. So your range is effectively shit … or you’ll be cutting your $10,000.00 battery life radically.

In the progs new world order there is no need for you to travel out of your city.

    2. Remembering when my old grand father telling us tales of his father loading his wagon for long trips needing to stop for his horse team to rest and refresh taking several days to reach his destination. Thank goodness since the invention of steam first then gasoline, we have been able to drastically reduce stop times and now with EV’s it’s eh, uh ah never mind…What’s the contrary of progress again?

Like you note, EV’s are traded quickly on average and very few exchanges for a new EV and yes, supercharging the battery is deadly for it’s lifespan.
I do a lot of long distance highway driving and I can attest that most times I pass EV’s as they keep to 100 km/hr max and the passengers I see never seem happy especially in the winter months where they wear their big winter coat, hat and gloves…me, I’m comfortable in my toasty IC vehicle wearing just my indoor clothes. I always turn my head to give the sucker driver a nice Ah!Ah! Grin but for some reason they never look back…

  6. L – If Trudeau wanted to live his anti-fossil fuel policies personally. He could insist on being driven around only in electric vehicles for his motorcade, and have his convoy of Cadillac Escapades converted to lithium battery power.

That way Canadians would see less of him in their area during the winter and he’d spend more
time at charging stations waiting for his convoy to be recharged. He’d get bored. Unless his
Minister of Affairs(foreign and domestic) was along for the ride.

How long until, E.V. vehicle companies get charged(pun intended) with operating unlicensed crematoriums?

What is the rate of E.V. auto theft ? That would be one measure of their true market value…

  7. well.
    that does it.
lm going into metals recycling specializing in those that go into any EVs.
my great uncle was a millionaire having gone into metals recycling in BC.
apparently theres some large park or tract left by him to the province.
cartwright was the name. he wrote a book about the family tree on me mudders side

  8. The City of Ottawa led by outgoing Mayor, Jim Quimby, is spending 1 billion dollars on electric buses.

  9. “They’re quieter, they emit no emissions and they last longer,” Giulietti said Friday.

    LOL.
    At least they’re quieter.
A nice low crackling sound as the toxic metals burn into the night.
Pull out a guitar and some marshmallows.
Gather round the old bus fire and listen to Grampa tell stories of pick-up trucks, and wheat crops, and cattle farms, and other ancient wonders.
