“Highly credible” whistleblowers have come forward to a senior Senate Republican alleging a widespread effort within the FBI to downplay or discredit negative information about President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, according to letters reviewed by CBS News.
“The information provided to my office involves concerns about the FBI’s receipt and use of derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden, and the FBI’s false portrayal of acquired evidence as disinformation,” GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley wrote FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 25. “The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility and necessitate this letter.”
Grassley, the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said the whistleblowers alleged that legitimate streams of information and intelligence about the president’s son were characterized as likely disinformation or prematurely shut down leading up to the 2020 presidential election. . . .
Not surprising.
What is of note is that CBS is reporting it.
As if they were not complicit in the silencing of this leading up to Nov 2020.

Let me save everyone some time. Let’s say that the House and Senate fall into Republican control after the mid-terms (they won’t, but let’s just say it for argument’s sake). What changes? Nada. The House committees and Senate committees still have the stonewall of not receiving the information requested from the DOJ and their little brother, the FBI. Additionally, any recommended investigations initiated (glorified request via letter) is just ignored by the DOJ. Additionally, any Congressmen/women with the temerity to go down that road will find themselves vilified and likely recipients of a character assassination campaign.
Instead of hardline accountability, the standard procedure from that point is to trot over to Fox News and vent about how outraged they are.
Rinse Lather Repeat.
Nothing….NOTHING…can be accomplished until they put someone in the Attorney General position that throws caution to the wind and just overrules all the career political hackery and ideology purveyors, and gives the Congress everything they want. At that point, not only will the relevant investigations proceed, but those road blockers and political operatives will be exposed and subject to their own troubles.
There are some signs of a possible turnaround. At the GOP primary level, candidates who support cleaning up the electoral system are gaining favour. These are the same folks who want the swamp to be drained.
Unless the Republicans manage to something suicidal, the mid-term elections should result in a strong majority in both houses with members who want real change. It will be almost impossible for the wimpy GOP leadership to resist meaningful inquiries into election corruption and a real look at the Jan. 6th events.
Whistleblowers who can read the tea leaves are coming out of the woodwork in order to protect their asses for when the new sheriff comes into town.
