Y2Kyoto: Enjoy The Decline

A Remarkable Decline in Landfalling Hurricanes:;

Last week a paper published in Science concluded that worldwide, “To date, there has been no firm evidence of global trends of the frequency of tropical cyclones with maximum wind speed above the hurricane-force wind (64 knots) at landfall.” That finding, which confirms our work, was based on data since 1982. But what happens when we take a look further back in time? What we find might surprise you.

  1. “Just read Des Moines city council voted that they were to be carbon footprint free by 2035. All electricity coming in to Des Moines cannot come from coal, oil or fracking. Sounds like a lot of people will be standing around warming their hands by garbage burning in 55 gallon drums.

    When they are done with us, the Amish will be the most advance society in America. “

  2. With global cooling, the first victims are “tropical cyclones”, formerly called hurricanes, or, more properly, “her-icanes”.

    As usual, women suffer first and most.

  3. It was warmer when Vikings settled in Greenland. They left by 1350 AD….too cold to grow food, or feed cattle. Nothing has changed there for quite a while since. I’ve been there…… in summer. For 6-8 weeks it’s nice, by early September it’s snowing and fast getting dark. I didn’t see any large scale farming, or even a garden plot. There might have been a greenhouse like in the Yukon. Try the seal (tastes like fish), or whale (tastes like a weird beef). The only ice we saw was upon arrival and floating by, or grounded out on the bottom. The rest was bare rock.
    Folks who want a cooler world than today (’cause according to Greta et al) should spend some time in Labrador, Baffin, or Greenland to gain a bit of perspective. Like all year. Without “synthetic materials”, or clothing. Fall into the water in your Gortex/down clothing….good luck. I’ll wear wool thank you very much. Warm even when wet. And you can eat the sheep.
    A colder climate means MOAR HEATING, so forget about limiting CO2 folks, warm is best, even with R50 in the walls, or better yet below ground. At least before the ice buries you, if you’re too stubborn to move. Folks have been moving for millennia ’cause weather.
