Hmmm tough choice. Russian dominated Middle East or American one. Can they (Russians) do any worse?
When did Syria stop supporting Hizballah or Iran stop supporting terrorism? Never.
Did Russia ever stop supporting Syria and Iran as client states? No.
When did the Cold War end?
It never did end, NATO just declared victory and stopped fighting our side of it.
This “We Won the Cold War” meme gave BJ Clinton the opportunity to declare a “Holiday from History” and spend the “Peace Dividend” on social programs instead of the military.
The rest of NATO followed suit and here we are in a precarious position today, overmatched strategically and militarily.
Who thinks Russia got to where they are right now overnight or just on Obama’s watch?

Exactly! The focus was just more domestic re-consolidating between the years 1990 and 2000. Since Putin’s assumption of power the Geo-political southern quest has returned full steam. Obama got outmaneuvered and out-foxed by an old fox, but then that was not that difficult.
We are about to find out just how bad it can be with a Mid-east dominated by Russia.
Soon — A Mid-east with multiple nuclear powers. If you think Iran will be the only Country with nuclear weapons? Turkey, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Egypt will all soon possess nuclear weapons too.
Who will stop them?
What moral right does anyone have to stop these countries now?
We allowed Iran to get Nukes. The elite leaders of the West abandoned the principles of non-proliferation in exchange for lucrative commercial aircraft contracts to Boeing and Airbus from Iran. A few billion in contracts buys a lot of influence in western capitals. We are letting Iran get nukes, and we are no longer morally justified in stopping KSA, Egypt or Turkey?
Also expect oil prices to rise. Rusia wants more for their oil, and now they have the forces and the ability make it happen. (Iran wants higher priced oil too.) Who is going to stop them?
NATO? EU? Obama?

Market forces. Unless the Russians bottle up the Saudi supply, supply will continue to outstrip demand.(Iran will be adding to the supply side)
The problem with the US’s Middle East policy is there is currently a palace coup underway in Saudi Arabia. The King is ill, and all the many princes are jockeying for position.
The US is confused because Obama’s not sure who to take orders from.
