Following what the psychologist Philip Tetlock called the “psychology of taboo”, there has been a systematic and thorough campaign to rule out the middle ground as heretical: not just wrong, but mistaken, immoral and beyond the pale. That’s what the word denier with its deliberate connotations of Holocaust denial is intended to do. For reasons I do not fully understand, journalists have been shamefully happy to go along with this fundamentally religious project.

Not trying to get all religious on you but Jesus described the warmists and their self-interested ilk over 2000 years ago – they are false prophets whom we can recognize by their fruit – world government, socialism, their funding, incomes and prestige – which are not designed to determine the “truth” or help humankind but to benefit themselves by shutting out inconvenient facts and those who expound them:

The data isn’t in itself relevant. Understanding the data and analysing it requires an historic framework derived from an understanding of past history.
If I were to make the analysis, I would use as a benchmark a time in which European civilization thrived. This is not the case for the Climate Crisis Cartel, who have in mind only to promote crisis without framing the data in any known historic setting.

Ken while I agree some politicians, like Obama, Kerry, Trudeau, Mulcair and others have clearly drank the Kool Aid, most pragmatic politicians, like Stephen Harper, give this stuff only lip service, with G7 pronouncements to “decarbonize” by 2100, as leftie heads explode everywhere and they double down on the shrill sliming.
Watch for the debate to pivot to actual pollution and away from emissions & “pricing” schemes during the upcoming federal election campaign. Any politician who proposes an increase in carbon taxes or some national emissions program is DOA.
You gotta love the “we already have carbon taxes so there” argument. OK, we already have income taxes, so it’s OK to raise them? Wait a minute, Mulcair and Trudeau have already promised that, even before the inevitable carbon tax platform planks to come. Maybe they could promise to increase sales taxes; right, already proposed by some. None of that won’t will be received well on the hustings.
IOW DOA. A sizeable chunk of voters, though possibly low information but more likely disinterested, are baby boomers who are doing fairly well now owing to working really hard for decades. They’re not going to let some plutocratic politicians mess that up in the name of “fairness.” Lame ads by Trudeau saying the present approach is “not acceptable” to him, and his many years of drama teaching experience, won’t change that.
The first migration of voters has happened with the left Libs going to the NDP. The second phase will be the migration of Lib right voters to the Tories, enough to secure a majority for Harper by adding votes to his solid core. Ironically that will save the Grits to fight another day, rather than being pushed into irrelevance and political oblivion by an NDP majority or minority government.
It probably won’t happen until after the summer, but it will happen.
The voters aren’t as stupid and gullible as leftist politicians hope & think they are. If this is all they’ve got – social and climate “justice” through higher taxation – then they’re political toast. Making the poor poorer through hostility to entrepreneurship and hard work, increasing taxes by cancelling tax cuts, and ever increasing carbon taxes and skyrocketing electricity costs puts the lie to their “we’re for the little guy” argument for the electorate to see when they actually take the time to put their Timmies down to vote.
