YNoKyoto

With 6.6 million votes counted: The revealed truth is that of the sixteen choices given to people regarding what they think are the important issues in their lives, climate change is dead last. Not only that, but in every sub-category, by age, by sex, by education, by country grouping, it’s right down at the bottom of the list. NOBODY thinks it’s important.

  1. Nobody thinks it’s important except the in high HDI countries it rises to the middle of the pack, and goes higher with more education and an older demographic.
It seems highly educated westerners over 55 think that if the experts says it’s happening, it must be happening. That shows either too much faith in “peer review” and universities to tell the truth and/or they are lazy.

  2. I think this is the demographic that still watches the 6:00 network news and believes what they are being told. They are also more likely to have retired, perhaps early with a comfortable DB pension plan, and aren’t that worried about their financial future.

  3. No one thinks it’s important except the ‘scientists’ seeking grant money and socialists seeking more control over society.

  4. I notice pretty much the whole Social Justice Warrior menu is pretty far down the scale. Even clean water is halfway down. I guess all those efforts to get clean water supplies have paid off over the years, more than half are happy with it.
Pretty funny when you get evidence like this that the whole global warming thing that all these clowns are concerned about is MADE UP. It’s a fake issue. Doesn’t exist. Nobody. Cares.
Response will be for the SJWs to double down, obviously. Because rationality and evidence are for suckers.

  5. Climate change fear mongering is the sole domain of the political class and the narratives spun by their water carriers in the MSM – add a mix of assorted useful idiots who engage in street theatrics and there you have the whole contingent pimping this center pin of Agenda 21 globalism – the rest of us are too well adjusted or too informed to engage in hysteria over weather patterns we have no control over – good secure jobs a strong dollar low crime and taxes – this should concern our political class, if not, punt them.

  6. Exactly. This demographic was initially brainwashed in our universities and then continue to be brainwashed by progressives in the MS visual and print media.

  7. Tell that to the Media Party, the Liberals, the NDP and above all the Mr Moon of the United/Useless Nations. No point talking to closed minds, the settled science wackos, we know who they are, they get all the media coverage. The Mo Strong doctrine, breakdown and ultimate destruction of all industrialized nations to take us back to the stone age.

  8. the Ya-hoos who blabber the most about this GLOBAL WARMING poppycock are the same ones who living in big energy absormes and commute accross the nation and around the world in their ler and gulf stream jets(John Travolta has a 707)and are chuafered around in their gas guzzling 11 MPG Limos and give money to Greenpeace so they can buy diseil fuel for their garbage scows RAINBOW WARRIOR II and ARCTIC SUNRISE and gasoline for those wretched zodiac boats their always zooming around in and when it realy comes down to the truth their favorite signs are $$$$$$$$$$$$

  9. lizz, moon, mo stlong and their ilk don’t believe in it either, to them it is just a TOOL to manipulate the plebs and their money

  10. Rex Murphy nails it in the Post:
“Environmentalism can be defined as a movement that can only exist in a world that has defied its imperatives. There are no flashmobs, no Twitter campaigns, no networking of activists or oil sands tours, no media coverage — except in those countries where the economies have provided the technology, and the leisure, for what is essentially a parasitic endeavour. The environmental movement is as technologically enabled as the industries it opposes. It depends far more deeply than it will ever admit on precisely what it deplores.
To bring 50,000 green activists to a Copenhagen or a Rio for one of those gigantic environmental summits requires the exertion of manifold technologies and the primary sources of energy that make them possible. To have the luxury of protest you must have an economy that blankets it. The world’s poor don’t do sit-ins; poverty is their padlock, and it is not — as on Burnaby Mountain, or an XL site — a theatrical toy for idle green moralists.
To protest energy requires energy — and a world without the fuels and engines environmentalists protest is one in which they could not function and they would not, iPhoneless, wish to live.”

  11. You have also nailed it Lev. The additional mover, as in bowel, is the fearful less capable editor/producer unable to adjust to the diminishing rice bowl from traditional news sources. They operate with the “C” capability journalist graduates to run around the truth.
This also will pass or continue as the capable move on by with the advertising revenue which funded the glory days of old.

  12. According to the chattering heads on the MSM talk fests, it would be priority 1. This is demonstrated by the endless talk about Canada stepping up to “match” the agreement Obama struck with China.
This ignores the reality that Obama is in no position to deliver on any promises requiring legislative approval. The US Senate rather decisively dealt with the original Kyoto, by a 98-0 resolution, and this was during the dying days of the Clinton-Gore regime. Al Gore as presiding Senate officer, and former long time member, might have been expected to have some influence at least among Democrats.
There is no reason to expect a new resolution before the newly formatted Senate would fare any better. This small detail goes unremarked upon by all the MSM chatterers.

  13. what a fascinating document. i think the list is as close to exactly right as can be. not even sure what should be changed.

  14. @OZ I think the older demographic referred to are the 35 to 50 year older. The over 55’s are in the bag.

  15. @CAPERSQ, I think you’re full of shit. I’m 55 and I know what summer is supposed to feel like. HOT! It hasn’t been hot for half a decade, these last few summers are the shortest coldest I’ve seen.
Youngsters like yourself don’t have life experience to draw from and also don’t know people in my age group. So just STFU you damn bigot.
