Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

She brought this on herself.
Your comment about sizes up her way of doing things. While enriching her family, to the “political class” she belongs to.
While being the typical UN flunky Marxist.Spending us into the gutter while hating our industries.A progressive so zealous. that her first act was to take away innocent before guilty as a defence in Canada. In concert with crispy cream in BC.
Throwing away 800 years of common Law. What really did her in though was the High River Gun grab.
We may have lost some Political liability from Redford being the Progressive candidate. But man I feel like Alberta got its soul back today.
First Red Ed. Now Redford.Shows some Albertan’s are still doing the right thing . No matter the Eastern invasion or the cultural cults.
Glad she’s gone. Can hardly wait to see who will disappoint us next.
Interesting that bartinsky never heard of High River. Butt-in-sky, head in the sand.
No OZ it bothers me not, but I do believe that when a person is given a job, and they for the most part carry out that job, like getting a ring road around Calgary, pushing for the Keystone pipeline against the most rabid lefty administration in the US ever, and things like that,,,,you know business type thingys,,,well most people think pecking at someone all the time while they are doing that job, might not be a good thing. OZ just go on taking your talking points from Don Braid and the Renn and Stimpy show on QR, your train of thought was derailed long ago.
After the sleight-of-hand the Alberta PCs pulled on their budgets, I’ll wait a week to make sure. She might actually have said “re-signed”, and thus will be back for another four years. 🙂
Nothing personal, Bartinsky, but you used “to stupid” twice in your first post when you meant “too stupid”. That does tell folks something.
First Flaherty now Redford? Could pour some Wynne on this Bonfire of the Incompetents? This is awesome and all but it’s also just a little weird.
The big reason this is awesome is because there is not an opening-however small-for rightist governance in Alberta. The Wildrose Party has decided it will not be providing that opening after they amputated all their meaningful party planks. They are New PC: now with 20% less entitlement.
Can’t stop laughing over this!
You seem bothered, bartinsky. Just sayin. Really bothered. A lot.
I guess you listen to too much Don Braid and the Renn and Stimpy show on QR.
Me, I don’t listen to radio or watch TV. It’s not my thing.
………………………..
Mr. Speaker, Budget 2014 adds over $5 billion dollars in debt this year and brings Alberta’s total debt to over $21 billion by 2016.
The Finance Minister compares debt financing for infrastructure to a home mortgage. This is a poor comparison. A home mortgage is secured by an appreciating asset worth more than the amount of the loan – and it’s easy to sell.
In contrast, government assets depreciate, are worth less than they cost to build – and they are difficult to sell even if you wanted to.
The Minister also says that because interest rates are currently low, now is the time to borrow. Interest rates are indeed low — for now. But these debts will need to be regularly refinanced, and as our debt load increases so will the available interest rate, and with it, billions in new annual interest charges ($800 million this year alone, rising to $1.2 billion by 2016).
Have we forgotten the consequences of sustained debt financing in Europe, the U.S., and Ontario? Interest rates won’t always be low – Alberta won’t always enjoy record revenues. And when those realities manifest themselves, we and our children will pay a heavy price.
The Minister states that folks moving to Alberta aren’t bringing their roads and schools with them, thus we must borrow to build. First off, new Albertans don’t bring roads with them, but they do bring their taxes. Population growth is not a drain on our finances – it pads our bottom line.
Secondly, if we must borrow for projects now to cope with high growth, what’s going to change in the future so we don’t have to borrow?
Forecasts predict high population growth for decades. Those folks will all need schools and roads too. If we can’t build what we need today without going into debt even with record revenues, when will we ever be able to? And when our economy and growth rate slow, how are we going to pay the interest charges on the debt incurred during the high growth years?
Colleagues, it’s never too late to do the right thing. Let us leave our children with a legacy free from the burden of debt. We owe them nothing less.
Rob Anderson
Airdrie MLA – Wildrose House Leader

I get similar emails from the AlbertaPCs because I used be a card carrying member.
Amazingly enough, the bastids claim they balanced the budget.
Friends,
For the first time in six years, Alberta’s budget is fully balanced.
blah blah blah….blah blah blah…blah blah blah.
I’m proud of the work our PC team has done in ensuring Budget 2014 is balanced, while delivering the next phase of the Building Alberta Plan.
As your Premier, you have my commitment that we will work every day to build a stronger, modern, better province together.
Thank you,
Premier Alison Redford
So true..and ironically delicious…
Met your kind before: get along to go along. You give politics a bad name. Meanwhile monkey see, monkey do.
Vote NDP, sport, they’re your kind of Party.
Ding dong, the bitch is dead.
That being said, who’s there left to vote for? Danielle threw in with the AGW crowd and, from those that I know that still vote, that’s just about enough in and of itself to disqualify her.
When one is left voting for the most conservative woman, the battle is already lost. Women are not conservative by nature, blog hostess evidently not included.
OLD LORI “Redford down, Wynne to go”
WEll said ……..Old Lori, sadly Ontario has a breed of voters too used to living on “entitlements” to change.
One can only hope that there a Mike Harris clone in the Ontarian Political woodpile?
Wither Jim Flaherty?
Re: Alberta’s 2 female political leaders and the RCMP break-ins ;
A big fecal storm is blowing down the pike over this because we see –
A) Queen Allie the UN gun grabber slinking back into the wood work (and out of the jurisdiction a la Dalton McGuinty? – back to the US/UN?) to avoid embarrassment over the High River break-in investigation.
B) Dr. Smith’s daughter knows all too well the legal traps and abuses of C-68 because she was schooled in it by the Alberta firearms community when they made the court challenge to the laws back in the day – she is not as dumb/confused about abusive firearms control as she lets on – the reason is anyone’s guess – firearms laws are a political tar baby that requires a spine to tackle perhaps???
At any rate Alberta being the sole wealth engine in the nation the leadership will be one to watch, with every prehensile special interest known to the free world looking to install their flunky on the throne.
Fool, ever hear of death by a thousand cuts, olde Red’s cuts were but a few of these thousand. This type of disregard for tax-payer’s money exists all through the “ruling” class, and that is why I often say that it’s not lefties or rite wingers, IT’S POLITICIANS.
…I for one would still love to know if it was she who gave the order for the Queen’s cowboys to go kicking in the doors of High River gun owners…
Agreed 100%.!
…That being said, who’s there left to vote for? Danielle threw in with the AGW crowd and, from those that I know that still vote, that’s just about enough in and of itself to disqualify her…
There’s the rub. Gutless Pandering to those that see it in their best intererst to shutting down or, at the very least, slowing down our production of bitumen: Saudi, Iran, Iraq, Venezuala, Mexico, and yes, even those in the US. This whole AGW BS is all about profit for those that stand to lose said profit as we grow our industry.
How can people be so goddamned STUPID..???
Bet the Alberta Teachers Union is very sad today. They bought a very useful Premier with their support and now that investment is gone.
Alberta simply voted in the wrong party last election.
Interesting to hear Redford’s announcement. I’m resigning because all this party infighting is not good for the province. Look between the lines and see the real ‘elite lefty’. I’m not responsible, I’m leaving because its the fault of all the others in the party. I’m leaving because I’m so noble that I’m willing to throw myself on this sword.
True that, Fred. Anyone with an inkling of what was going on could see this train wreck coming. Instead, a bunch of Calgarians thought the miscellaneous ramblings of a priest had something to do with the overall character of the Wild Rose party and chose to ignore the glaringly obvious real character defects in the PC party. Sheesh. I had always thought Albertans were some what more politically astute than the rest of Canada. I was wrong.
High on Nurse Redford’s agenda was the gentrification of Alberta’s culture.
Nenshi and his predecessor(s) subscribed to the same ideology.
An horrific example is the destruction and make-over of the King Eddy – Calgary’s penultimate blues tavern for decades.
Culture is something that can’t be trifled with – Ralph Klein knew enough to let it be and enjoy it.
Albertans need to “go back to the future”, reclaiming their original social values and eschewing the influence of carpetbaggers.
Wonder when it will “leak out” that the monster
from the depths of the UN was also the one very
conveniently behind the High River gun grab and
all other assorted smelly baggage heading out.
Sgt Lejaune >

Absolutely!
Why isn’t the RCMP confiscating her passport and home computers?
There needs to be a criminal investigation, and where is the Alberta Human Rights Commission to back up the people of High River & Alberta?
Alberta needs Justice!
Yes, I feel the same way about Danielle Smith after she capitualated to the AGW crowd. I am just not that interested anymore in the process. The main stream media even in Alberta has even sold out. We may soon have learned morons, like some of the whack jobs in the south, who demand jail terms for climate change deniers.
“where is the Alberta Human Rights Commission to back up the people of High River”
They’re white, armed and mostly conservative….not the HRC’s core constituency I’m afraid.
@ Jay1 –“We may soon have learned morons, like some of the whack jobs in the south, who demand jail terms for climate change deniers.”
Ooops, Suzuki already did that.
