In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington.
The decline — from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated.
And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it.

The Census employee caught faking the results is Julius Buckmon, according to confidential Census documents obtained by The Post. Buckmon told me in an interview this past weekend that he was told to make up information by higher-ups at Census.
Where they got the idea remains a mystery.

one can see why “Truthers” would be so villified.
You really can’t make this stuff up.
Was the Canadian election any different? Who controls the civil service? Certainly not the right, they have real jobs.
Interesting, so you’re saying that a government agency dedicated to collecting statistics can be prone to falsification of data? But of course, Statistics Canada is straight as an arrow and needs all that long form census data from mandatory participation.
Simple fact is that the Census department in the States obviously needs a huge chunk of their mandate removed and not replaced, as with Statistics Canada.
Why should this be a surprise? In a world where the administration uses the IRS as their personal attack dogs, getting an agency to fake a few numbers is child’s play.

my Wife and I joined a travel group for a tour of China including Beijing and Shanghai this past fall.
On the trip one of the tour guides, when asked how hot does it become in the Summer said and I paraphrase; “it gets up to 38 degrees Celsius then it gets up to 39 degrees; the 39.4; 39.6; 39.8; 39.9; 39.9; 39.9; it never gets to 40.0 degrees because then no one has to work in that temperature”. Well, if we lose the 2014 elections and the Democrats gain control of all three Houses again can you imagine what those sob’s are gona do to us ?
The first order of business will be the elimination of the Military for a “Peoples Army”.
The second will be to change the constitution for as many terms as Obama can fix for himself.
