Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution says,
“The Congress shall have power…To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water”
Did Congress declare war on Iraq or Afghanistan? Nope. It was done by executive order where’d that come from?) Congress did not declare war on Vietnam, Grenada, Lebanon, Somalia, Haiti, Panama, Serbia, or Bosnia either. It appears congress will not be involved in sanctioning war with Syria either.
There is full continuity between the Obama and Bush administrations in war crimes – actually it goes as far back as Johnston – why impeach just Obama when most of the Post -WWII Presidents have breached constitutional protocol, behaved lawlessly to attack other nations illegally for their MIC masters?
Or is Bush excused because “he’s our guy”?

  3. How do our esteemed “professional journalists” sleep at night? The sooner they are unemployed, the better. At least then, all we will have to put up with from them are their pontifications while standing in the soup line. That’s more acceptable then their willful enabling of lying, war-mongering Nobel Peace Prize winners.

  4. America is now gonna
‘Show Syria Just Enough Muscle so that we don’t get Mocked.’
    WTF..
Putin flexes his muscles and Obama flexes his muscles,
and then we all go to the gym and pump each other.
    Sheeesh !
    can we bow any lower?

  5. The ‘Willing’ countries seem to be missing in action as per usual. The Euros probably think they have the Americans boxed into some kind of action. The Brits and French already have excuses.
I hope Obama does not do something foolish. I do not trust the ‘chemical’ use rationale, not that they weren’t used’ but who used them. The rebels are the same Sunni bunch who knocked the Towers down. Feed them enough ammo to keep them busy IMHO, nothing more.
Canada keep your nose out of this!

  6. Obama, making his first public remarks on the crisis since a CNN interview that aired Friday, rejected claims that rebels fighting to topple Assad were behind the Aug. 21 attack.
“We have concluded that the Syrian government in fact carried these out. And if that’s so, then there need to be international consequences,”

LIAR!!! and on NPR Aug 28. He repeats the same lie. Phrasing it the same way. If its factually concluded, why qualify it with “if so”? Why do these “journalists” not call him out on this?

  7. Occam
well said, but I have to agree with Coach, as Bush did get congressional consent to go into Iraq, and there was the further justification in that Sadam have breached the agreement under which Iraq was placed by the international community, allowing Britain and the USA to act unilaterally within said agreement.
as to “rouge” gov’ts, read up on the Kennedy assassination, some very interesting things will jump out at you. There are at least 4 past presidents in the know as to most of what went down that day and they have ALL been involved in the cover up, never mind that 2 are implicated as to being directly involved. All western governments are corrupt as far as I’m concerned, it’s just a matter of degree!!

  8. Later Mr Biden said he knew the Syrian government had chemical weapons and if they didn’t admit it the US was going to go in and get them. He also added the UN has made themselves irrelevant on the issue, so we’ll go with a coalition of the willing instead. (sarc off)

  9. Obama and the Democrats are more concerned about the UN investigators finding the chemical dumps and weapons which are tagged “Sarin Gas, Made in Baghdad.Iraq. Best use date before November 2013.x

  10. According to Global News today the {Harper Regime has not dedicated military support for Al Qaeda and America’s banana republic dictator in Syria}.
Global did praise the Shiny Pony though for promising an open and “more honest” government, something which apparently the Harper Regime has failed to promise. It’s nice the Liberals have promised to be “more honest”.

  11. Apples and oranges coach, a authorization to use force is NOT the same as congress voting to go to war. And if I remember correctly Bush went knee-walking to the slime in the UN looking to legitimize his war with Iraq – another link between his leadership and Barry’s – both have said they don’t need congress if they ask the UN – another unconstitutional and treasonous act.
