I can’t imagine the frustration that the DeBeers managers must be feeling. They bend over backwards to help,and it is never enough. The natives WILL hurt our economy. They will continue to do so until we get a gov’t that has the backbone to tell them they are not special. They are not ‘nations’.
I am shocked that Justine (“just-wants-to-give-back” to the community) would charge exorbitant speaking fees to non-profits like literacy groups and school boards. He charged some literacy group in Saskatoon $15,000. Isn’t a speaking engagement a bit like campaigning when you are an MP. And what about that idea of “giving back” that Justine wants us to swallow? Surely this is a bigger issue than Duffy’s health card. Where are our trusted reporters? McGregor? Maher?
The Canadian Senate, maybe we are looking at senate reform from the wrong angle.
Canadian Taxpayers Association, says red tape and bureaucratic idiocy cost us approximately $30 billion per year .
Federal deficit is $28 billion that they admit to.Then there’s the cash sucking corpse of healthcare.
The number of archaic laws and regulation that remain on the books, allowing perpetual abuse of the taxpayer at the whim of authoritarian nitwits, is nearly impossible to list.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse?
Reform the senate, change them to an auditing function with the authority to fire civil servants without cause.
Or make refusing to testify at senate inquisitions grounds for instant dismissal.
It is definitely time to introduce a little terror into the un-civil service. Service…. WTF?
Our bureaucrats currently dismiss the public as toothless and irrelevant, as they abuse our hospitality enriching themselves and their special friends from the public purse.
Even when caught stealing from the taxpayer and corrupting justice, there is not punishment, these klecto-bureaucrats get to “resign” with full pension and often keep their illgotten gains.
Environment Canada ring any bells? Nice gig take $60 million from govt dept to set up a “Think Tank”, quit and instantly become chairman of said Think Tank.
So the chamber of “sober second thought” could be revoking unreasonable laws, firing overreaching bureaucrats,prosecuting government theft and protecting the individuals rights.
Actually doing the work they were set up for, as the elected government MPs are far too distracted by daily politics.
