  1. …how on earth did we get from this to this?

Uhhhh, I dunno. Walter stayed in his closet???

  2. How did we get from Cronkite to Williams? The career of Cronkite pretty much laid the groundwork and provided the model for the smug sycophancy of a Brian Williams and the vast majority of his “professional” colleagues.

  3. The cult of personality about sums it up. Style over substance. Now back to you Chris Matthews.

  4. “…how on earth did we get from this to this?”
Like Levans says, some of this fawning bias has always been there. The sycophants have just become more emboldened the last few decades and are now right out in the open.

  5. Red ink, more red ink for the msm, who are their bankers? Woodies for the poutus, all around all the time are the only qualification to work for these former news outlets, no Kardashians that day or what?

  6. What has really changed? The corporate media still pimp the political establishment-sanctioned “official story” fed to them by the lying jackals of the political parties. Cronkite pimped the Warren commission’s unsound single bullet theory just as the MSM today pimp global warming, enviro hysteria and anti-constitutional global governing economics/politics. They are the PR wing of the establishment oligarchy.
The difference these days is they just have come unashamedly out of the closet as the partisan presstitutes they are. You will see little or no discussion on the real agendas at play in the political theater on the MSM – that’s their job; keep the masses on the mushroom farm while the real owners of the nation and their empty suits in government legislate continuity of the klepto, plutocratic state. In the POTUS candidacy race they are pimping the illusion of democratic choice, that there are really fundamental differences between the Straussian Dems and the CINO GOPs.
The one thing they are deathly afraid of is an audience/citizenry which can think independently and critically through the half-truths and politically censored pablum the media force feeds us. They fear the loss of monopoly of information control – that’s why the MSM and their bed mates in congress are scheming ways to shut down internet freedom and indict the citizen reporter for state crimes when they publish the truth.
Tune in the news for the local weather and fluff stories about lost cats and kids – as for what’s really going on, go to alternate media (which the state is rapidly trying to shut down) read, learn, disseminate and screen shot archive it – soon it will be gone.

  7. Lefty males are prone to this type of homo-eroticism involving black guys. It’s not surprising to see Williams go all gushy. Some just react with fury over any criticism of their hero.

  8. anon
“I see the same fawning hero worship on the right wing as well so what’s the big deal?”
Example? And it should be an example that shows irrelevance of leadership, just good pecks.

  9. Hey anon….your hero spent more in his first six months than the entire cost of the Iraq war. And Obama has nothing to show for it. Oh…except for the Volt that goes up in flames and which nobody wants to buy.
Oh….and how about that $16 TRILLION dollar debt….the majority of which is due to Obamanomics….i.e., Marxism.

  10. Just a question — when does Obama actually govern? He always seems to be doing sports, taking vacations, showing up on TV spots, campaigning, and reading the occasional teleprompter speech. I would have expected someone in his position to be much busier with the Nations business than he seems to be. I would love to see him in a debate with Gingrich, because I don’t think Obama actually knows very much about the country he pretends to govern.

  11. ROTFL. This borders on Soviet-era propaganda: “Comrades, behold these photographs of Our Beloved Leader revealing his matchless physique and vitality! Truly our enlightened Collective is in excellent hands and will be for many years to come!”

  12. Of course Obama is fit and healthy. He doesn’t work much …. in fact, he’s never really even had a job. He vacations every month, he plays golf and basket ball nearly every day.
He admits his lazy streak …. I think that may be genetic, so that may not be entirely his fault.
He has never had to actually grow up. He went from school to government on nothing but charm and evil backers.

  13. Brian Williams digs the long snap counts. heh
    football under the lights..

Russian President Putin would love to meet Obama on the beach to flex their muscles.
If Putin could take time away from pulling up little boys shirts to rub and kiss their belly’s.

  14. You are way off on this Robert. The MSM was just as much in the bag for the left and the dems back in Cronkites day as it is now. Robert Novak wrote extensively about this over the years. Back Cronkites day the dem-favoring MSM had a monopoly on tv and radio. (and cronkites editorializing on vietnam was arguabky worse than what jane fonda was doing – it certainly was more damaging to american inteerests) That is no longer the case so they are more overt in their bias in order to be heard – but they are losing to the admittedly biased but at least fact-based right wing tv and radio and Internet outlets.

  15. ‘Course, the left MSM was in the bag with leftist JFK.
However, Jackie let the cat out with her words. Leftists have never recovered.
“He didn’t even have the satisfaction of being killed for civil rights . . . . It’s — it had to be some silly little Communist.” — Jackie Kennedy, on hearing that a leftist had been arrested for her husband’s murder.”

Cronkite”s greatest accomplishment was convincing the US public that Tet, an american/RVN victory was a actually a smashing defeat.
Somehow the NVA/VC ability to attack everywhere was clear evidence of victory.
Clear evidence of the NVA/VC being defeated/destroyed everywhere was suppressed.
The legacy of that is the US public cannot sustain any casualties.
There is not, and cannot ever be, an american “Highway of Heroes”…..the MSM would not allow it.
I suspect that Canada’s MSM is really intimidated by the “Highway of Heroes”…..and would stop it if they could.
I have a buddy from Oklahoma, who made the trip to Canada, after news of Canadian casualties, just to stand in the cold rain on an overpass…The taxi he grabbed at Pearson, was driven by a fella in a turbin, who not only stood with him but did the trip pro bono…
    That’s MY Canada…….
Perhaps the logical explaination for Chris Matthew’s obsession is he (and Obmama) play for the same team as Barney Frank.

  17. Cronkite, as pointed out above was an old liberal and he was shown reporting a serious and shocking story as objectively as possible. PLAYING ON THE BEACH WHILE THE NATION DROWNS IN DEBT should have been a natural story for anything resembling an objective media but that that is nowhere to be found in the main stream.

  18. Well of course they do, sasquatch! They ALL work for George Soros, along with a significant number of the GOP.
Or wasn’t that what you meant?

  19. Interesting issue with the MSM been kiss-y faced with Obama.. I was just wondering this morning why NPR radio, in Arizona, was on a full press re-Election for the Prince of Darkness. All the ladies of NPR are gushing and lathered up with lust aspiring to be Obama’s Monica L.
They have started the Wonder Boy series. I kind of hope they over-reach and the blow back to the Bull Shit PC puts the N word back in circulation…
They will over-reach on every issue IMHO: Immigration, EPA, and Economic Fraud….The Media are their own worse enemy. Wait for it

  20. I don’t know if his WH interview special is still available anywhere, but in it, Williams tugs his forelock, literally, when Obama graces him for a moment with his majesty. Literally.

  21. i think it pretty well documented about Obama’s bathhouse visits.
it’s that or Wookie’s like their men thin.

  22. Well, Slap Shot, it HAS been back in circulation for me for quite some time. But then I don’t necessarily care if I’m banned. I tend to take that as a badge of honor…

  23. John, yes there were lots of old liberals, but this is very much a different breed. Much more sycophantic than the old press ever was. What you’re seeing, I think, is the difference between the Great Generation and Generation X.

  24. That Walter Cronkite was one sick puppy!
Yes, yes, I know, you don’t think that’s funny, but trust me, the German audience is cracking up…
