  1. IMO she’s wise not to run.
    1) the US (and world) MSM would go crazy and some of the mud would stick.
    2) I agree she is more effective doing what she does. Indeed, she seems to be the most effective political operator in the US today: often setting the agenda, driving the opposition nuts and inspiring the revolution.
    3) The simple fact is that the Repub candidate, whoever he is, has to win. As in many political events, rational people have to vote against.
Good for US, good for us. (Hey! that’s a simple slogan.)

  2. Relief.
She is much more effective in her current role.
I still have trouble taking a Herman Cain candidacy seriously. I like how he talks, but he’s never held public office. He has no clue what he’s getting into.
They’ll eat him alive. Just like Arnie.

  3. Agreed . . much more effective outside the campaign than in.
Go Sarah go . . . let ‘er rip on Obamassiah.

  4. I’m disappointed that SP isn’t running, as I feel the conditions are ideal for her. Regardless of the polls, I think at this point SP would win the GOP nomination and beat BO, but I digress.
I believe a MR/HC ticket is eminent; but, I am still holding hope for Newt G to pull-off the victory in the end. Remember, NG IS a Tea Party candidate AND the most qualified person in the world to be POTUS.
Now that SP is out, my first wish is NG/HC and second is MR/HC. Either way, it should be a boat race if Hillary Clinton doesn’t get in, which I’m not convinced she won’t. Then, all bets are off, and the Dems repeat, at the peril of the country.

  5. I think she made the right decision. The almost insane hatred and fear exhibited towards her by the loony left, ably assisted by MSM, would have been a huge distraction. With the obamessiah on the ropes at present, a distraction that could only act in his favour.
Job number one is get get this goof and his moochaholic wife out of the white house.
    And…..GO CAIN….

  6. syncrodox – Politics is not the same as business IMHO. Very different game. And to go into the world’s most difficult political job with NO experience in office is little short of suicide or masochism.
Romney / Cain has some appeal, but the problem is that the role of VP is one of a “fixer” and behind the scenes kind of guy. That’s exactly the wrong role for Cain. I wish Cain had been governor for just one term somewhere. Anywhere. If he did a good job with that, he’d be at the top of everyone’s list.
It also troubles me that except for Perry, none of the republican candidates served in the US military.

  7. Of course she wouldn’t run, why become president and take a huge pay cut for more work.

  8. old lori
Many valid points but dire times require decisive action, hard and unconventional solutions…I like Mr. Cain for that role.

  9. Although I’d like to see SP as POTUS, I agree that she’d be more effective doing what she’s currently doing. There seems to be something toxic in Washington DC and Ottawa that turns the brains of people who have set out to change a corrupt system into mush. Thus, by having someone with the stature of SP energizing the TP outside of Washington, Washington can be held in check.
Right now have no idea who’s going to be the Republican nominee, but we’ve already seen the result of a TOTUS with no experience so I can’t imagine anyone doing any worse.

  10. I really thought she could have been the one, the first female POTUS. I still think she would have tried to be a great one.(the force is strong in this one,,,)
    but,,
Rove et al won this one, at the expense of the country.
    I’m reminded of these lyrics right now;
    “bye-bye, miss american pie.”
Drove my chevy to the levee,
    But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
And singin’, “this’ll be the day that I die.
“this’ll be the day that I die.”

My sincere condolences to all her supporters south of the border,,, especially the O4P people.
May you all keep up the vision of restoring America. Good luck.

  11. Sarah is a true American patriot. I wonder if the hating of SP will stop? Never; Sarah is a mortal threat to liberalism as long as she has breath to speak. By far, she was the best of the candidates; with her out, Cain or Perry are excellent candidates who Barry no doubt dreads facing on the same stage, and can bring an end to the Obama regime come 2012.

  12. @OLD LORI
I am sorry but the current POTUS has no political backround nor does he have any buisness managment backround ….if they can make a duche like him look good herman cain will be fine .
Also on a side note i am soo glad to see a regualr buisness man running , i DO NOT want another run of the mill lawyer politician taking office i don’t give sh!t weather this guy has any previous expierience he cant be any worse than OBUMMER so I disagree i want someone like herman cain someone with the sack to wipe a country off the map if they mess around plain and simpel this last decade of wears are an example of political correctness run amock in the form of a war …god forbid this happened again i would rather someone the sack big enough to put his country his citizens before the others ….it crushes me to know that there are/were pro american iraqis , and pro western iraqis, christian iraqis same in pakistan ,afganistan so on and so forth but they would have to be part of the process of protecting america and her best intrest’s and at the same time let the rest of the world know that daddy is back and is pissed off and not willing to deal , just kick ass palin and simple , that simple , the christians souls will be in heavan so it would be all good anyway.

  13. Smart decision by a savvy lady. She STILL weilds great influence within conservative and Tea Party ranks, and she can now openly, boldly, and regularly tell the lamestream media to stick it where the sun don’t shine!
I can easilly see her as cabinet material.

  14. Sarah is wise, and I’m glad for her discission, now she can play king maker and as Cain is a Teaparty darling Sarah can help him from the “outside of Washington” circle
and I would normaly agree with old Lori, except this time americns need someone who understands and can instill confidence in the small and medium business crowd, and Cain is that man, and then the economy will start to move foreward. Also Cain would understand the need to cut back on big government
    Go Cain Go!!!!

  15. Wise move. The moving up of primary dates forced her hand. I suspect had there been more time and Cain had faltered she would have perhaps entered the ring.
Now let’s see if rudi jumps in…
And don’t forget there is always the convention and a write-in campaign…

  16. “I’m disappointed that SP isn’t running, as I feel the conditions are ideal for her. Regardless of the polls, I think at this point SP would win the GOP nomination and beat BO…”
Plus, if her presidency didn’t work out, she could always quit after three years…

  17. Davenport’s just jealous of Sarah.
Sarah can hit a moose in the x-ring at 100 yards, and Davenport doesn’t know which end of a rifle the bullets come out.
Or which end of a moose is the front.

  18. The blind hatred for Palin by the left is absolutely beyond any precedent I have seen. The insults being thrown even on the National Post site are unbelievably vile. Her ‘stupidity’ is a media creation belied by the facts. She could have done wonders as a patriotic ‘chairman of the board’ instead of the America-hating loser currently in residence in the Whitehouse. Oh, and Davenport, she was hounded out of office by nuisance lawsuits filed by leftist creeps who discovered that Alaska has no legal/financial protections for those in office. Watch for Palin in 2016, she is still young enough and has time to prove the press to be wrong as usual.

  19. I wonder if Sarah Palin came to the realization that the problems of big America today are simply not solveable by ordinary means…And has “gone Galt”.
I can imagine her, and folks like her, defending their small islands of civilization until the troubles pass. Then, maybe, working to be the genesis of a renewed Constitutional Republic…

  20. “Plus, if her presidency didn’t work out, she could always quit after three years…”
Maybe, Dimwitport. If Palin was elected Potus and she remained true to her conservative roots, however, the odds are good that she’d not destroy the economy, increase unemployment to double-digit numbers, violate the Constitution in numerous ways and run a lawless regime, make the country an international laughingstock and prove to be america’s worst president in recent memory then flame out miserably at the voting booth after her only term… so the odds of your statement (rooted in idiocy, itself) coming true are low.

  21. At this time, Cain is the best option among the current crop and I agree with those who suggest that Sarah should keep stirring the pot.
Each of the current candidates has some failings, but all of the failings of all of them put together do not add up to the failings of the anointed one.

  22. I still remember her convention speech in 2008. She was and is refreshingly unconventional. She has been the hope needed to endure the change of the last three years. I look forward to Palin’s continuing influence.

  23. “if her presidency didn’t work out, she could always quit after three years..” Davenport projecting his wish about Obama, as Palin was able to maintain high levels of public support in office.

  24. The American economy is about to fall into the abyss. Only a masochist would want to be the next president of the United States. Good call Sarah!

She left the governorship to spare the taxpayers the expense of paying for frivolous lawsuits launched by venomous left-handed vermin who feared conservatism. How well would your Obamessiah hold up under 1/100 the public and media scrutiny leveled at sarah palin? When was the last time you saw the left systematically search & destroy not only a politician, but their family members as well?
Get your facts straight and think before posting, Anus.

  26. I sympathize with you Iberia. If only Obama hadn’t quit the senate for that teleprompter reading job.

  27. Hahaha. Truth be told, Obama is a big disappointment, not because he’s reads a teleprompter, but because he is carrying on with Bush’s policies. Good when Bush was boss, bad now; white, black…

  28. Iberia, my disappointment is that Obama hasn’t made much effort to inspire anyone to greatness. I liked his pre-presidential statement “that being a father doesn’t end at conception.” I was hoping for a Bill Cosby who would challenge people to build something great out of their lives. I take heart that he has challenged the tea party supporters to greatness. If you think Bush deserves some of the credit, that’s fine by me.

  29. “I still have trouble taking a Herman Cain candidacy seriously. I like how he talks, but he’s never held public office.”
Bambam played senator for a couple of years and look how that turned out. Actually, not being a politician is a big plus. Herman Cain is a businessman who is used to making tough decisions and turning losing companies around. I’ve listened to several interviews and he has never waffled or given a political non-answer type of answer. He is also the best candidate to run against Bambam as the “race card” would be a non-issue.

  30. Ron Paul is the only one that could move the US out of it’s current status quo…but it’s simply too late for that and for too many reasons to list. Paul will never be elected partly because of some of those same reasons actually.
The US and the rest of the FREE world need to crash and burn before it can rise from it’s own ashes again…It’s either that or total state control…The US of A still has the best chance of all because it’s citizens are armed, unlike the rest of us serfs that let our governments slowly disarm us through bleeding heart rhetoric a la Montreal polytechnic.

  31. David Frum makes a prediction!
“Palin will never become a party elder stateswoman. Over the past three years, it became apparent to all but a handful of cultists that her only interests were money and celebrity. She had no concept of public service, and no capacity to serve even if she had wished to do so. Soon even those last cultists will quietly abandon the argument…To that extent, what was important in her story was not the faults and failings of Sarah Palin. There have always been grifters in politics. What was important in her story was the revelation of conservatism’s lack of antibodies against somebody with the faults and failings of Sarah Palin. That’s the story that should trouble us still.”

  32. Do you really think that Sarah Palin’s comments will cause much furor now that she has taken herself out of the race? Many posters here say she is a “king/queen maker”, however, that was predicated on the following she had of people who wanted her to run for the presidency on their behalf. The “Silent Majority” now known as Tea Partiers identified her as one of their own and wanted her to represent their interests and to clean up the corruption at the Federal level. She has lost much credibility because many of her followers, while supporting her decision not to run, are feeling dejected, disenfranchised and betrayed. By the way, I was a strong Palin supporter–but I won’t be as interested in what she has to say now because she’s in no position to truly change how things are done. Kind of like the NDP in today’s Parliament–irrelevant.

  33. favill
Great theory but unlike the NDP..Sarah Palin is/will be the boogy man that haunts the lefties in the dreams fir an indefinite period…..because they largely created her….
She has ruled out running in 2012 but….2016…2020….

  34. Ah yes. David Frum. How I respect him. (Seriouly, who reads this guy, aside from Davenport?)
