Is it just me or are you also left completely baffled after reading through this latest diatribe by David Frum? Most of his 13 bullet points sound like talking points for the Democrat Party.
Frum continuously refers to himself as a “conservative” but in truth he’s nothing more than a RINO and in actuality would be a perfect adviser to the [failed] Obama regime. Apparently I’m not the only one asking this question. Isn’t it long overdue for David Frum to come out of the closet … the political closet that is, and declare his longstanding love for Obama and other socialists?!

Yup! He’s a RINO. He’s just gone to work for CNN.
Frum is a member of the Joe Clark School of Conservatism. I think he’s one of those people who made his career and connections in one political wing, and can’t figure out a way to cross over and keep his livelihood.
The media loves alleged conservatives who say this stuff and it guarantees attention.
Frum is a Big Government conservative. Basically, this means he is a progressive that can do some basic math. Other than being able to count, he believes all the same nonsense as progressives – a wise and benevolent government needs to ban, regulate and tax their way to a perfect society. A society where individual freedom is secondary to the community needs (‘needs’ defined by experts and bureaucrats, of course).
I’m with Dave on this one
For republicans, with friends like David Frum, who needs enemies.
The MSM will be all over this and David will get a lucrative round of network interviews.
I agree with LC, Frum is a Big Government Conservative (A Progressive of Glenn Beck’s definition).
“It is wrong to blame minor and marginal government policies like the Community Reinvestment Act for the financial crisis, while ignoring the much more important role of government inaction to police overall levels of leverage within the financial system;”
So stimulus 1 was minor and marginal..?
All I infer from Frum’s point, Syncro, is that the political class’ incompetence is minor and marginal only when compared to the incompetence of the financial institutions. Yet, we should now trust the political uber-geniuses to fix things because…..
If this Frum column gets around his endorsement of Mitt Romney may be the kiss of death, politically, for Mitt.
At least it won’t help.
It’s no secret that Frum has been openly anti-Tea Party.
What LC said. It is the policies that David champions that got the west into this mess.
I’m way ahead of you on this one. Been thinking this for a long time now.
Remember, his mommy had nightly wet chairs while reading the news of what her hero Turdough did on that particular day, in fact she regularly swooned over Peeair to the point of making Knowlton Nash jeleous that SHE was deeper in love with Canadas Obuma. How could little Davy be anything else but a closet leftie, heard him speak with Ezra in Calgary a few years back, liked Ezra a lot better than the little fat sycophant to the LPC Frum.
LC..so H&C II ?
Frum is CINO.
But that list is very long indeed.
he’s whatcha might call a Progressive Conservative. Yep, I know the term doesn’t make any sense. But it does mean HE’S NOT A CONSERVATIVE!
What’s H&C, Syncro? Hydrogen and Carbon?
Hope n’ Change…but Hydrogen and Carbon or Holograms and Crystals would also work…
Frum is certainly bright, but I think he’s a snob.
Don’t think he’d be very comfortable with most of us – dirt under our fingernails, no degrees, and all that.
Frum plays the role of Wise Man Conservative by eschewing “crazy” TP types, even if that means arguing against facts and living in a parallel world as evidenced by his bizarro bullet point list. He wants to believe so he does.
bartinsky
you can’t judge a book by the cover or a son by his mother.
though I have to say that young David appears to be a closet sumthin’
No, Frum has a valid point with many (but not all) of his points.
Ahhh…Hope and Change II. I don’t think Obama will attempt to run a messiah campaign again. It’s going to be an ugly election. The Unions and progressive activists will undoubtedly play dirty while the MSM turns a blind eye to them and attacks the GOP candidate. You can already see this starting.
I don’t know, Jamie. I’d bet that Frum doesn’t have a problem with people who have “dirt under our fingernails, no degrees, and all that”…as long as they are selling him organic, locavore vegetables. Just know your place and don’t attempt to rise about you station. /s
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s not him, it’s you.
Frum supporting Romney makes me certain that my non-support for Harry Reid’s co-religionist is correct
Go Cain GO!!!
It all starts with finger-pointin’, davenport me lass.
You startin’ to coming on side or something?
Let’s be careful. Even Milton Friedman agreed that some help was necessary during the great depression. He also advocated that a transformation towards the unwinding of massive government should be done gradually. Was he a RHINO too?
Puzzling. I looked at his piece on Dalton McGuinty’s Ontario and thought it seemed sensible.
This column, on the other hand, reminds me of Churchill’s quip about a pudding — it has no theme. He may have arguments behind that list of points, but he doesn’t bother to present any of them, or tie his 13 points together in any way.
And it is wrong to claim that all 13 them represent some kind of consensus, even among the candidates. And some of them are just plain not true. For instance, although estimates vary, no one denies that Obama regulations have caused significant job losses in the Gulf of Mexico.
All that incoherence seems odd coming from a man who made his living as a speech writer.
Freidman was a Kenysian until he wised up. We live in faster times.
or maybe, just maybe, it’s that some people think it’s morally wrong to enslave future generations with crushing debt (regardless if it’s done by a Republican or Democrat). Not one of them has a realistic plan to pay off the existing debt so what kind of fool would believe they’ll actually reform their spending habits after the recession is over.
Look who his Mother was. Than ask yourself if now he’s getting older he’s going back to the Marxist farm.
Rev, I generally read his columns when I spot them and I would have to agree that he has been gradually moving to the left.
Syncro, But Hayek was a much better economist than Keynes.

Naturally…
Mr. Frum aside, Mitt Romney is a poor choice for a Republican presidential candidate. Nobody REALLY likes him…. he’s like tepid tea. He’s to liberal for most Republicans and to conservative for most Democrats. I’m from Michigan where the Romney name still has some influence but I don’t even see him winning here.
I watched the very crrreeepy David Frum speak on Sarah Palin’s announcement this morning on Canada AM. Some day, under President Palin, people will be saying, David Who?
This article by Frum has a subliminal message….
http://www.nationalpost.com/news/McGuinty+winners+losers/5487266/story.html
That message is that McSquinty is not progressive enough….
The way to read snobby Frum’s intent is to note who he doesn’t attack…..
All of Frum’s economic advice might be correct were the cause of the U.S. economic doldrums different. The cause of the problems is not lack of economic stimulus. The cause of the problem is Obama. U.S. capitalists will not invest 1 cent to bail out our socialist boy. It doesn’t matter who the Republicans elect president, recovery is going to come so fast it might leave us with whiplash.
I would suspect he admires Hudak’s campaign. Perhaps an advisor, he is another RINO, or “Progressive” Conservative … AKA Progressive Loser. Stanfield was always praised by the liberal establishment as the best prime minister Canada never had. You betcha they did .. he was a loser.
You mentioned the S-word – Stanfield.
“That’s okay Pierre, we may have defeated you in the House on a money bill but we certainly wouldn’t expect you to resign.”
UUUUGGGHHH
Frum has on occassion had the sense to skewer some leftard or lefty pol on some blatantly obvious display of stupidity…. but most of the time his roots are exposed … this article simply exposes the Frum roots.
