Well, how about this? It turns out that not all Liberals are idiots, after all – just the ones running the party.

First Carville, now Howard “The Scream” Dean. Why, it’s almost ….unCanadian.
Toronto Star:
But some Liberals see no humour in the situation.
They are not amused that their party, which has often accused Prime Minister Stephen Harper of marching in lockstep with the United States, is looking to an American to establish the tone of the national convention in Montreal.
“This is an insulting choice,” said Ray Heard, a well-known Toronto Liberal. “Howard Dean is a loudmouth and the ultimate loser.”
Heard said he resents the fact the party could not find a Canadian of national stature to open the convention, which runs from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3
“Why couldn’t a Canadian do it? If Stephen Harper invited an American conservative to open a Conservative convention in Canada, the Liberals would be going crazy with outrage.”
You don’t say!
(As an aside – am I the only person who cannot look at a photo of James Carville without imagining him snacking on mice?)

What a joke! Is this the best that the Liberal party could find? Unbelievable! My one hope is that Dean lets out one of his “rally screams” for all of the country to see and hear. Just shows that there really is no one running the camp…..
“Howard Dean is a loudmouth and the ultimate loser.” Sounds like he is the perfect choice for the Liberals!
Not a good omen for the Lieberals to pick a wacked- out nutcase loser to speak to them. Add to that he’s a dreaded AMERICAN! Carolyn Parrish must be having the vapors.
Of course it only matters when the Conservatives as much as deal with the US on anything, then it’s a big story. Can’t be neighborly and civil, they’ll take us over don’t you know.
Hope they have ear plugs, Howie is a screecher. They could gift him with a bottle of Newfie Screech, but then he may really lose control and crap his drawers.
The hypocrite party of canada has scored another one, Howard Dean? lol.
Then again his price tag would be alot less then any other’s so he is all they could afford.
… Carolyn Parrish must be having the vapors.
I saw Ms Parrish on the Michael Coren Show last night. Judging by her expanded girth, she might want to re-christen herself “Large Marge.”
Mice? Renquist ate flies.
Obviously the Liberals are hypocrites if they want an American to deliver a speech at their so-called Canadian convention after dumping all over America over the years and condemning the Tory PM for being respectful of them.
As for James Carville, doesn’t he just look like an alien? Big, bald head, big, almond eyes, tiny little slit of a mouth, scary… or am I just being mean?
First we’ll take Toledo than Sacramento than we’re going to come back to Scranton and then we have to go lecture a bunch of corrupt socialists losers from some other country.
But right after that we’re going to Pokeepsi and…
Notice the Liberal comments – how Dean has moved the Democratic Party from a reliance on big donations to ‘small donations’. That’s been the strategy of the Conservatives for years, while the Liberals have been the Party of Big Business and Big Corporations (how ‘conservative’ of them). The Liberals have no money; Chretien changed the laws on donations – not because he had any principles because he doesn’t – but to hamper Martin’s election campaign.
Wow – For the Liberals and the MSM to scream against any Harper/CPC agreements with the US, and to have an American as the keynote speaker of a Canadian political party – that’s – well, that’s more than wierd; that suggests something.
What’s it about? I wonder. Are the Liberals planning to align themselves with the Democrats, considering them as the ‘heir apparents’ of the US government. That’s by no means a certainty, but, let’s just assume that’s the Liberal ‘thinking’. But Liberals been anti-American for years; the whole definition of Canada, by Liberals, has been that Canada is ‘not-American because Americans-are-Evil’. Remember all those ads; remember Chretien and Martin. Being Liberal means Being Anti-American. So?
I’ll bet they are going to switch definitions; they aren’t against America!!! No, no, no. They are against Bush! That’s all. Just Bush. Not against America – and American healthcare, guns, wars, ballistic missiles, Kyoto blah blah. Just Bush.
So, their election tactic to regain power in Canada is that they are going to align themselves with the Democrats in the US – and – the Liberal campaign back to power will be linked, connected to, the Democrat campaign over the next year/two in the US – to get back in power. The campaign will be Against Harper/aka Against Bush.
Ahh, these two noble Parties Of The People. Fighting against the Twin Evil Tyrants Bush (and Harper), fighting to regain Truth, Love and etc.
And guess what – I bet the MSM won’t fall over themselves critiquing this. Remember, our MSM media are Liberal propaganda – and we hear, constantly, of Harper as ‘Bush’; of Harper as ‘tyrannical, controlling’ etc etc.
I predict – we’ll hear a lot more of that. The Liberal strategy is to link Harper with Bush, and link themselves with the Noble Democratic Party in the fight to regain truth, love and purity. Or perhaps, it’s just a fight for Power. Pure Power. Whatever.
The Liberals won’t campaign on policies (they have none); or principles (they have none); they’ll campaign Against Bush and merge Harper with Bush.
That’s why Dean is their Keynote Speaker.
Good point on the hypocrisy. The official organ of the Liberal party aired an episode of the 5th Estate last night chastising Harper for using an “American” approach to global warming. This stuff just writes itself.
On second thought, nope, I’m not being mean… I, too, have long thought Mr. Carville resembles one of the grays from the X-Files.
Maybe he is. Can anyone prove he isn’t?
Ok, I’ll take off the funny tinfoil hat and quit being silly and get back to work!
Milton Friedman dead at 94.
reported everywhere but CBCpravda. doesnt fit their picture of economics.
Ok Dean is the worst kind of socialist. I detest the mans politics.
Having said that however I never could understand why everyone was and is so down on that kind of enthusiasim. I love that stuff. All pumped up and ready to roll that’s gotta be a lotta fun.
As for Mrs Friedman the world today has lost a truly great man.

The next election is going to be fun.
Where will the usual Liberal props, barbs, saws and lies end up?
– Pretty hard to retain the mantra ‘we hate Americans’ or that Canadians are defined by what they’re not – not American – when Howard Dean is your party convention keynote speaker.
– Or that Iggy spent most of his life and all of his career in the US and that he was pro Iraq war and pro torture.
– It’s going to be real fun pulling out all the insults Rae hurled at the Liberals while a member of the NDP (up until last year). Not to mention what he did to Ontario.
– Dion? That’s easy, he can’t speak English.
Dumber than dead.
Poor Howard Dean. He blows his chances at becoming President because he let the world see what kind of nut-case he is under the suit.
Imagine for a moment you are a guy sitting in DR DEAN’s office waiting for a physical. Dr. Dean walks in, tells you to undress and then asks you to sit on the table. As he approaches you, you remember the sight of him that fateful night on American TV when Dean had his now famous meltdown.
Sitting there in your paper gown, with nothing but a thin sheet seperating your ass from the table…..you recall the scene. Howard Dean….eyes bulging, neck turning red and squeezing out from the top of your collar. Then the scream/screech.
Dr. Dean is now standing right beside you.
He reaches for your nuts as he asks, “Please turn your head and cough”
Frankly, given the choice between the two options I’d rather address him as Mr. President.
James Carville reminds me of a defrocked Southern preacher.
Howard Dean a perennially loser.
How Ironic the Anti-American Lefty Liberals invite American lefty weasels, too their convention. One can only imagine the howls of indignity from the MSM if Harper invited Bush to speak at a Conservative one.
Its just like the lefts cozy relationship with the jihadists. They have no morals or direction. Only tyranny in common. With a dehumanized Utopia as Heaven on Earth. With there third unholy trinity of none reasoning evil. Of believing you can change human nature. Become a superman, or rearrange society, contrary to natural law.
All of which has led time & again to mass murder, with war as its bride. Poverty with ignorance as its twin. With famine, as the crown of law is broken & degenerated into chaos. Mass insanity.
This is the bold future the Carville’s & Deans want for us all, as PET & his imps have strived for. If nothing else this proves lefty’s here don’t really hate American , American haters. They just hate Conservatives period. There the threat to there plans for our own good.
Where is the MSM on this story?
I met Friedman giving a guest lecture and talking at a dinner party at the University of Chicago 5 years ago when I was doing some graduate work there. Very nice man, really great sense of humour, and a fantastic orator. Really short in person – he and Rose are 3’10 and 3’8″ respectively. But few men are greater giants than him.
A must watch is the old videotapes of his debates in the 80s. My signed copies of Capitalism and Freedom + Free To Choose are right next to the prominent place of my King James Bible (which are all ironically placed to the left of my copy of Marx’s works) in my living room.
I was a dyed-in-the-wool hardcore namby-pamby socialist until I heard him speak. But his eloquent words against the New Deal, graphs depicting the success of monetarism, and Gary Becker/Robert E. Lucas turned me irrevocably into a Frederich von Hayek/Adam Smith liberal. He touched my life very profoundly and personally. And each and every one of us owes him our lives for his incredible work and inspirational words in defence of a free society.
There are very few thinkers who completely change the course of history and he was truly one of them. RIP and may God bless your soul.
“………Heard said he resents the fact the party could not find a Canadian of national stature to open the convention, which runs from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3…”
Would that be a Canadian of LOW enough Stature?
If so maybe that’s a GOOD THING!
ET: “I bet the MSM won’t fall over themselves critiquing this. “
Exactly! While there’s been muted criticism from some in the media, it’s only the most rabidly anti-American among them, like the T Star. The rest have been silent or supportive. The MSM reaction to a similar move by conservatives would have been uniformly MERCILESS! Bias? Hypocrisy? Double standard? Nah!
Kyle: “the official organ of the Liberal party aired an episode of the 5th Estate last night chastising Harper for using an “American” approach to global warming.”
Yes, and Terence Corcoran hammers away at the Charlatan Broadcasting Corp on this in today’s Financial Post. James Hoggan, a 5th Estate ‘expert’, is ” a totally unqualified small-town PR guy [flack] making disparaging comments about scientists he says are unqualified while he lectures the rest of us on the science.” Read the whole thing at: http://tinyurl.com/ydh3gm
ET 12:51pm: That’s a bullseye! This isn’t as random as it looks.
The Libranos are actually trying to ride the slipstream of the ascendent U.S. Democratic party.
I could even work for them.
Baaaaaaaad typo in last line of my 3:04 post. ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
It’s an interesting scenario that is developing.
The Liberals (which includes the NDP/Bloc etc) and the Democrats aren’t interested in the reality of terrorism. Therefore, they aren’t interested in the democratization of the ME, which is the front-line tactic against terrorism. They show this in their denigration of the Iraqi and Afghanistan elections and development of their constitutions, on their contempt for the Iraqi and Afghanistan leaders, in their focus on sectarian violence, in their focus on ‘numbers of deaths’ while ignoring achievements.
In their multicultural ideology, there is nothing wrong with leaving the ME stuck in tribal dictatorships. And equally, they see nothing wrong with the ‘dhimmitude’ of the West as Europe merges with the Islamic ideology. Terrorism is, to them, not due to Islamic fascism – which they don’t even know exists; it’s due to the West’s..whatever. Just leave the Arabs alone…and ‘all will be well’.
Their enemy – is Bush. They aren’t exactly sure how to define him – one hears the terms ‘neocon’ again and again, but most people don’t even know what that means. They lump him in with ‘religious fundamentalists’ – which strangely ignores that Islamic fascism and terrorism uses a ‘religious fundamentalism’.
The MSM and most Liberal commentators reveal a profound ignorance of Harper’s policies; indeed, Jane Taber, the CTV ardent Agent Against Harper, informed the public that Harper has ‘no foreign policy; it’s all ‘done on the fly’.
So- what’s going on? The Return to Power, which is all that the Liberals are ever interested in, will be focused around a campaign against Bush. Harper will be pictures as ‘congenitally bonded’ to Bush. Watch for the pictures – they’ll show the two of them bonded!! The Liberals will be shown as Saviours with Scimitars – out to cut the bond. I mean the use of the term ‘scimitar’..watch for the Liberal alignment with jihadists..who simply want to free ‘their country’ from the Bush-Imperialists.
Liberals don’t campaign on policies; they don’t have any. They campaign by bribes – both in brown paper bags to their election workers and massive promises to identity groups in their election blather. They campaign by ad hominem negative advertising against their opponents. This next campaign is beginning now.
In regards to Howard Dean. I think that it was a great choice by the Liberal Party. ANYTHING to get that raving lunatic out of the states, every for a short while is great. Perhaps you could get the Canadian government to offer him a 3 month paid vacation as well.
Regarding your comment on James Carville. They don’t call him serpenthead for nothing.
Carvill is campaigning for the removal of Dean as head of the party. Pelosi lost her first fight today with her choice not being elected as no 2. There is losts if internal strife in the democratic party, which the msm is finally starting to mention. Murta is just as corrupt as any Republican, Reed is also being investigated for his land deals, there are others. Wait for it. This was all known prior to the election but was held back from the people. The next 2 yrs will not be easy for the democrats now they have to put their money where their mouth is. Even the generals say stay the course, as Bush and Rummy have said. Media stressed Bush wasn’t listening to the generals. Now what do the democrats do, follow the generals or moveon.org. With a majority of one, and the fact senators vote across the aisle, it should be interesting. They need 60 votes to pass anything. Liberman is a loose cannon, cross him and he will leave the party. Rowe is a genius to plan this scenario for the next 2 yrs. I called the cbc to see if they will acuse the liberals of being in lockstep with the democrats and america. What else will they have to ask permission from the democrats before they do or say or promise anything.
What you say is correct ET the games have begun, they actually began from a media standpoint back in feb.
Amazing though how we see the frontrunners have piled up massive debt in their campaigns with very little mention of this in the media.
Here comes the next liberal slant in 12months or so, Yes the bad debt’s have been paid(written off).
Remember “America is our neighbour, it is not our nation?”
I never had any idea what that actually meant, but it seemed urgently important to the Liberals around this time last year. I guess it’s not so important anymore. or maybe America is our nation now. I really don’t know what those guys think.
From The Star,
-Steve MacKinnon, the Liberals’ national director, said it’s only a very small minority of Liberals who oppose Dean’s choice as keynote speaker.”Our emails are running about 50 to 1 in favour, with people saying, `Wow, what a coup.'”-
Hey Steve, maybe those email senders are using the word coup literally. The Libs could have a Really Scary Yankee Singalong at the Convention too. /sarc
Chorus
Over there, over there,
Send the word, send the word over there –
That the Yanks are coming,
The Yanks are coming,
The drums rum-tumming
Ev’rywhere.
So prepare, say a pray’r,
Send the word, send the word to beware.
We’ll be over, we’re coming over,
And we won’t come back till it’s over
Over there.
Everytime I see Carville, I get a cartoon clip of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” running through my mind, but he’s looking more and more skeletal as time goes on…
I hope Rae wins. The unions who took the hit from Rae under his term as premier are already planning to bring him down if he becomes leader.
The great thing now is the Liberals have lost most of their neg-ad things to use on Harper.
To close to Americans-Dean
Iraq-Iggy
Enviroment/Kyoto-Dion
Afghanistan-Commons vote
Health Care-Deal for a decade
To close to big business-Income trusts
To close to oil bus.-see above
Scandals-accountibility act
Budget-gst cuts
I’m in full agreement with ET’s 3:15 comment.
It’s the very same analysis I’ve made myself.
The MSM is clearly playing the game again, the game in which they’ve previously succeeded in getting the Liberals elected by painting them favorably, downplaying/ignoring their faults and flubs while committing political/propaganda terrorism against the Conservatives with a view to terrorizing Canadians into voting for the Liberals for one reason only: irrational fear!
The MSM knows it has the power to manipulate the perceptions of the electorate by using its vast financial and human resources to control information and spin. Not too long ago, it had a monopoly on the dissemination of info and spin, but things are different now, yet they don’t want to face this reality. Which is a weakness to be exploited.
The trick for bloggers is to beat the MSM at this game. We must do it. I mean, it’s in a way, war.
And I’m ready. Let them bring it on. I’ll pull no punches… as, after all, the left won’t, either, and their blows tend to be low.
Time to get serious.
In Canada. I didn’t make this up. Choose your Canada.
Sample some of the barf from Dean’s base voters:
The anti-semitic moonbats.
This is the crowd who ousted Independent Senator Joe Lieberman, only to have Joe outfox them. …-
The Protocols of the Daily Kos
There seem to be an awful lot of these creepy diary posts by Daily Kos Kidz following the elections: Daily Kos: For Whom the UN Tolls… (Hat tip: Killgore Trout.)
Nothing better illustrates the way Zionist’s have over taken the UN, witness the contrasting responses of the United Nations Security Council to the two latest cases.
Iran was handed an excessively harsh dictate to cease doing what it insists is its lawful right, while Israel has received exceptionally lenient treatment.
And here’s another: Daily Kos: Am I anti-semitic?
As I read about the blatantly evil atrocities committed by Israeli forces against the inhabitants of the prison called Palestine, I find myself consumed with contempt for a society that has institutionalized racism as integral to their national and spiritual identity.
Does that make me anti-semitic?
Ya think? …-

Since the Liberals are so pleased with landing such a great prize for their Leadership Convention (he lost to John Kerry and never even made it to the Big Show) and are quick to call Conservative Rona Ambrose “idiotic” at an International Conference, and then act shocked that she called the liberals out on their false Kyoto pledges to the world, I googled Howard Dean and Kyoto. This is what I found. Former Vermont governor Howard Dean has sided most closely with the Bush administration, endorsing the National Governors Association policy, which opposed the Kyoto Protocol unless it included mandatory emissions cuts for developing countries. The policy recommended that the United States “not sign or ratify any agreement that would result in serious harm to the U.S. economy.”
Another article along the same lines, but about John Kerry can be found here.

The Liberals have to learn not to throw stones in glass houses. The internet catches their hypocrisy almost as fast as they spout it out.
Damn Liberals! Damn people who vote them in! When will the fence sitters come to their senses and put their vote where it matters – the CPC. Go Harper.
Please let this be true…for the Liberals to have an American give their convention keynote presentation. They’re shooting themselves in the foot. I hope it gets lots of play in the MSM.
They’re also reading too much into last week’s elections. It wasn’t so much a Democrat win as a Republican loss.
Carville eating mice.
because he looks like a cat or because he is a snake?
Ace @2:49 pm. Thanks for your comments about Milton Friedman – a great American economist. And thanks for your mention of the King James Bible as part of your library next to Friedman.
The wonderful thing about guys like Friedman is that their thought is so well constructed and documented. It will live on for as long as we folk think about these things. Thank you, Mr. Friedman and thank you, America, for the freedom that made Mr. Friedman’s ideas accessible to all of us.
American – Style, eh? I think I want to puke!!!
What sanctimonious A – holes
I hear that Carolyn Parrish may be doing her famous Mexican Hat Dance stomp on a Howard Dean doll at the big Lieberal event. Man, what a sight that would be. :))
You know whenever I come across Canadian’s posting commentary about American politics, I almost always suffer a disconnect and become immediately disinterested in the whole debate. Arguing American politics as a Canadian is like moaning about the weather. We can whine about it, but it won’t change a dang thing.
Oh sorry, wait. This is the Liberals we’re talking about here. (please replace American, with Liberal) 😀
So long as the cancer of anti-Americanism continues to be a driver in Canadian politics, everything that goes on to the south of us is extremely relevant.
It’s important that Canadian conservatives work to provide counterpoint, context and correction when the same-old same-old Amerihate mythology is trotted out by the liberal left and their unthinking co-conspirators in media.
The MSM overwhelmingly endorsed the Conservatives in the most recent federal election. No newspaper endorsed the NDP. And only the Toronto Star endorsed the Liberals.
If the MSM has any bias, the evidence suggests the media is heavily slanted towards the Right.
And a clip of Howard Dean giving an excited yell is hardly an effective attack on the man. It’s like pointing out that a Conservative politician fumbled a football. It is superficial and hasno bearing on the man or his ideology.
