Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem says Trump is considering to broaden his ban on Harvard enrolling international students to other universities as well in an escalating row with the academic world about antisemitism and pro-CCP currents.

Trump today revoked Harvard’s ability to enroll international students, effective immediately.

This action, led by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, terminated Harvard’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification, which allows universities to issue F-1 and J-1 visas for foreign students.

As a result, Harvard can no longer admit new international students, and its nearly 6,800 current international students—comprising about 27% of its student body—must transfer to other institutions or risk losing their legal status in the U.S.

The decision stems from an ongoing dispute between the Trump administration and Harvard, primarily over allegations that the university fosters antisemitism, violence, and anti-Americanism on campus, as well as claims of coordination with the Chinese Communist Party.

Update: HHS’s Civil Rights Office (@HHSOCR) finds that @Columbia violated Title VI “by acting with deliberate indifference towards student-on-student harassment of Jewish students”.

Two young Israeli Embassy aides were shot and killed outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in downtown Washington on Wednesday night by a man who shouted pro-Palestinian slogans after he was detained, according to law enforcement officials.

The close-range shooting occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on a street outside an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee at the Capital Jewish Museum, behind the F.B.I.’s Washington field office. The Capitol and the headquarters of the Justice Department and the F.B.I are nearby.

Pamela A. Smith, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, told reporters at a news conference that the man exclaimed, “Free, free Palestine,” after he was in custody. He also informed police of the location of a gun.

Samer Elzaenen has appeared on BBC Arabic more than a dozen times since the conflict erupted following the October 7 Hamas attacks on southern Israel.

He reported live last month and his dispatches have included reports from the Nuseirat refugee camp in June last year, after an Israeli military operation to rescue four hostages, held by Hamas, led to hundreds of Palestinian deaths.

It has now emerged that Elzaenen, 33, has issued a stream of social media posts which single out Jews for condemnation and even appear to call for violence against them.

In a Facebook post in July 2022, he stated: “When things go awry for us, shoot the Jews, it fixes everything.”

Elzaenen has also appeared to call for a repeat of the Holocaust, stating on Facebook in May 2011: “My message to the Zionist Jews: We are going to take our land back, we love death for Allah’s sake the same way you love life. We shall burn you as Hitler did, but this time we won’t have a single one of you left.”

Elsewhere on social media, he has posted a hashtag stating: “#We Are All Hamas You Son of a Jewess”

Elzaenen’s social media output over the past decade has included endorsements of more than 30 separate attacks against Jewish civilians in Israel, calling the actions “blessed” and “heroic”; describing the perpetrators and “heroes” and “martyrs” who “ascended” to “heaven”; and appearing to express joy at the victims’ deaths.

The BBC has been accused of “whitewashing” the views of participants in its controversial Gaza documentary after repeatedly mistranslating references to “the Jews” and omitting praise of “jihad”.

The Telegraph can reveal that on at least five occasions the words Yahud or Yahudy – Arabic for “Jew” or “Jews” – were changed to “Israel” or “Israeli forces”, or were removed from the subtitles altogether.

An interviewee praising Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader, for “jihad against the Jews” was also mistranslated as saying he was fighting “Israeli forces”.

The BBC is under pressure to reveal whether taxpayers’ money was given to Hamas during the making of Gaza: How To Survive A Warzone.

Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, said that if the BBC finds evidence money was given to Hamas, then counter terror police should investigate.

Asked whether the Met Police should investigate, she said: “We know that it is illegal to give money to terrorist organisations. Hamas is a terrorist organisation. The Met would make its operational decisions.

“I think that the BBC certainly needs to investigate and get the evidence for what has or what hasn’t happened, and then the police can make a decision on that. But we know what is right and what is legal in our country, and giving money to terrorists is not it.”

The dispute of the moment centers around the AP’s refusal to adopt the president’s executive order to change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. I have no dog in that particular hunt. They could call that body of water the Gulf of Swordfish for all I care (reference to the great Marx Brothers film “Horsefeathers” deliberate).

Nevertheless, the Biden Administration made similar executive order changes galore, many of them considerably more fraught, to which the AP evinced not one objection and adhered to like well-trained circus animals.

They also did not object to years of acts of “woke” destruction as disgusting (and terroristic) as “militants”—the term they used— pulling down the statue of Theodore Roosevelt in front of New York’s Museum of Natural History when Roosevelt was the man responsible for our national parks. BLM were “militants” to them as well, not terrorists, as they attempted to burn down Minneapolis for their political purposes (also personal gain). The Associated Press linguistically normalized almost every extremist action of recent years, foreign and domestic.

But current rhetorical decisions of the AP are far worse with consequences that enable evil in its most extreme forms.

Most disturbing is their inability to use the word “terrorism” to apply to, well, real terrorists. They claim they rely exclusively on Merriam-Webster for their definitions but there is reason to be skeptical. MW defines terrorism as “the unlawful use or threat of violence especially against the state or the public as a politically motivated means of attack or coercion.”

Wouldn’t that perfectly define Hamas that breaks into a neighboring country, shoots as many random civilians as possible, blows up their cars, destroys their buildings, abducts their citizens, including children and tiny babies, killing many, torturing or raping others, male and female, or starving them to death, in hidden tunnels for now over 500 days. How much “attack” and “coercion” do you need? And it hasn’t stopped.

But no, Hamas are not terrorists. In AP parlance they are “militants.” But because it is the Associated Press, this appellation spreads, surprisingly often even to conservative media. AP journalism, according to its website, is read by 4 billion people a day globally.
