In a House of Commons speech urging an end to #COVID19 mandates and restrictions, Candice Bergen, the interim Conservative leader, calls on convoy protestors to dismantle blockades.

While there are other politicians in this country, both federal and provincial, who are more deserving of removal from office, at least it’s a start. We’ll know for sure by Wednesday.
Ontario MP Scott Reid, chair of the party’s caucus, has informed MPs that he received written notice with signatures from at least 20 per cent of members requesting a review of O’Toole’s leadership, The Canadian Press confirmed.
One member of the Conservative caucus, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said caucus was divided evenly between supporters, detractors and the undecided, but anger is growing and the ground may have shifted.
Update @CandiceMalcolm I’ve spoke to two CPC sources who tell me the hard count of MPs against O’Toole is above 60. That’s more than half of caucus.

Here are three concrete steps the federal government could undertake right now to support our truckers and simultaneously address the concerns of Canadians who understand that vaccines are the best tool available to keep our society and economy open for business.
Number one: Introduce and make available educational programs for truckers to better address vaccine hesitancy and answer legitimate medical questions. Vaccine clinics should also be established along trucking routes to encourage more vaccination among the industry.
Number two: Provide an immediate exemption for truckers at risk of losing their jobs until a study can be conducted to weigh the positive benefits against the immediate negative consequences of the federal government’s mandate, to prevent the further exacerbation of the supply chain shortages we are already facing.
Number three: Introduce legislation to protect the jobs of federally regulated truckers by ensuring that those affected have the option to be reassigned to domestic routes.
Political instincts of a potato. And not a good potato either. More like one of those shriveled up ones the size of a mandarin orange you find at the bottom of the bin with the roots growing out of it.

The Conservative Party’s Saskatchewan caucus voted Thursday night to stand behind Senator Denise Batters staying in the regional group, a source says, months after leader Erin O’Toole booted Batters from the national caucus in November.
In a special meeting on Jan. 20, the 14-member Saskatchewan regional caucus voted in favour of Batters, according to a Saskatchewan Conservative source.
According to the source, an overwhelming majority of MPs voted to confirm the continued participation of Batters, the party’s sole Senator from the province.
Batters referred all questions to Saskatchewan Conservative caucus chair Kevin Waugh (Saskatoon-Grasswood, Sask.), who declined to comment citing caucus confidentiality. […]
National caucus chair Scott Reid (Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, Ont.) did not respond to The Hill Times‘ request for comment…
Warmington- Opposition shockingly silent on PM’s hatred of unvaccinated Canadians
During the leadership race, Erin O'Toole pledged to unequivocally defund and privatize CBC. During the election, he pledged to review possible changes to its business model. Now, he wants to "fix" it. https://t.co/a6dpt8u7bL

Gunter-The disappearing act of Erin O’Toole
Ever since September’s federal election, I’ve defended keeping Erin O’Toole as Conservative leader.
However, in the last week, in particular, O’Toole’s missteps have made it appear that the chaos of an internal Conservative contest couldn’t be any worse than keeping O’Toole in place.
This seems to be a hard concept for a lot of people.

Globe- Erin O’Toole has been treed by his own party, and he can’t come down to talk
Mr. O’Toole hasn’t been saying much about anything since the election. He has taken reporters’ questions three times since Sept. 20. Mr. Trudeau has held eight press “availabilities.” Usually it’s the opposition pushing to get its points across.
An opposition party that doesn’t oppose much of anything and a leader that goes into hiding after a terrible election result, largely of his own making, are not things that inspire confidence. The Conservative Party of Canada is a dead duck in the water while the country is circling the drain.
We’ll see how long O’Toole tolerates this latest development, but considering that he did not do as well as hoped in the last election, these MPs will hopefully be allowed to run with this issue.
Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu says she and other colleagues are forming what she calls a “mini-caucus” within the existing Tory caucus to advocate for Canadians concerned about the impacts of vaccine mandates.
