Erin O’Toole And The Middle Finger Of Fate

Hill Times;

The Conservative Party’s Saskatchewan caucus voted Thursday night to stand behind Senator Denise Batters staying in the regional group, a source says, months after leader Erin O’Toole booted Batters from the national caucus in November.

In a special meeting on Jan. 20, the 14-member Saskatchewan regional caucus voted in favour of Batters, according to a Saskatchewan Conservative source.

According to the source, an overwhelming majority of MPs voted to confirm the continued participation of Batters, the party’s sole Senator from the province.

Batters referred all questions to Saskatchewan Conservative caucus chair Kevin Waugh (Saskatoon-Grasswood, Sask.), who declined to comment citing caucus confidentiality. […]

National caucus chair Scott Reid (Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, Ont.) did not respond to The Hill Times‘ request for comment…

  1. You think a few people are starting to worry about job security ? Much to little much to late.

  2. Sask conservatives rock! I try to avoid petitions, but signed! Is the Senate not the house for second thought. Let that senator think and speak.

    1. Looking forward to the truck trek. Cut off Sussex Drive and Harrington Lake in Gatineau, peacefully of course, just like the first tribes do. We are all polite, nice Canadians.

      1. The chefs will have no food, just like most Canadians. Stornoway too. Actually blocking Rockcliffe entirely might work. The Laurentian elite will be calling. Time to mess up their life, politely.

  3. L -“It’s better for Saskatchewan to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction.”

  4. Remember when Erin O’Toole jumped for joy when the SCC struck down Saskatchewan’s challenge of Trudeau’s carbon tax? Yeah, I think the Sask caucus remembers that too.

      1. Erin O’Toole speaks for a about a dozen woke twenty somethings, who’s party preference is a product of their parents grift in the past. And he speaks loudest for those who realize that while abortion is bad, a well timed BJ can be just as effective at preventing an idiot like him from being born.

  5. O’Toole wants the west to continue voting for him and sending him money on the condition that they shut up, don’t bring up leadership or policy issues, and keep sending him money. More please Sir!

  6. If only O’Toole had had the strength of charterer required to resign after his defeat.
He betrayed his principles and his supporters, thinking that his sudden swerve to the left would win him Liberal and NDP swing voters. He was wrong. He needs to go, and SOON.

  7. Erin O’Toole is the right hand of Trudles. He ensures the “ opposition “ is simply an echo chamber of the Libranos and globalism

Nothing can change in Canada until O’Toole is kicked out, so a real opposition can form.

  8. O’Toole got to go. So glad to see these MP stand up a little bit . All MP need to become a hole lot more independent . I think the MP should vote in there leader . That way it keeps the party from being taken over by out side interest. The only way MP should be removed from the caucus if by MP vote not the whims of the leader. MP should be the seat of power not leaders office. Canada would do much better if they destroyed the party system and the MP worked for Canadians interest .

  9. Canada is FUBAR. I don’t see any reason from a political standpoint for Saskatchewan and Alberta to stay. Pull out of any agreements possible with Ottawa and start working towards economic union with the US. Sooner the better but we have to start.

      1. A break between the Clinton Archepelago and the congituous working-man’s America should come along within the next 50 years or so, too.

  10. I listen to a podcast featuring Jenni Byrne who was Harper’s chief back in the day.

She said O’Toole is finished. Just a matter of time.

  11. All conservatives need to force his ouster, is to have their MPs sit as independents.
A party of one has no standing.
Most conservatives, even some who post here, are no different than the liberals. They rigidly and reflexively, vote as their parents did, will little thought and an even scantier knowledge of the platform.
If you voted con in the last election, you voted for a fascist. In fact if you voted anything other than PPC, you cast a vote for fascism, whether or not you realized it, and as far as I am concerned, you deserve everything bad that comes your way.
Just my ever so humble opinion.
    GG

  12. You gotta wonder who was it that installed this character O’Toole as a leader of the conservatives.
If you think back the guy was talking 60% conservative, now its down to like 1 1/2%.
He needs to go. There is zero questions about that.
Who, in the conservative party is able to be conservative.
Many like Poilievre, he is very good at the economic critique of the wondering in wilderness of the so called ‘Liberals’. That is not to say that the so called ‘Conservative’ know where they’re going.
What are Poilievre’s thoughts on other subjects of governance?
Rempel is in with the global warming monotone and something about wimin’s (sic) issues, as though they are special, a people set apart.
Sloan wants his own party, that is a bloody no go.

    So who is there?
    Who you gonna call?

It is good to see that the Saskatchewan conservatives are backing their MP. It is a good sign of not bending over and taking it.

    1. Socio-political moments need good leadership, and in our country we lack a leader. Leaders have to step up and volunteer to lead. I like Pierre Poilievre — he has a lot going for him –but he refused to run for the party leadership based of his insistance he has a young family.

One reason the conservative movement is losing is that it lacks leaders. The movement also lacks effective NGO organizations. To lead and to build effective conservative groups entails sacrifices. The reason the Trump phenomenon took place is that he realized that conservatives were poorly organized, and so he built up his own organization and held mass rallies with an effective communication network. And Trump had the genius to build policies to defend ordinary Americsns’ values. Other Republican leaders never dreamed of doing that.

Here in Canada we are stuck with a Conservative leader without any values or beliefs. He also lacks any fighting spirit. I am using the word “we” to mean Canadians in general who want a decent opposition leader, and not members of the Conservative party. I belong to the PPC, not the CPC.

  13. G G
Many in here didn’t vote PPC because they are emotionalists and not rationalists , so you are right , they are essentially liberals, I’v voted PPC the last 2 elections , because the CPC is not conservative.
As to Max being from queebec, and FC, I never question some one about their heritage when they are saving my ass. If PPC had gotten more support last election it would have sent a message to ALL the other parties. As it was, the Cuckservative party colluded with the Bloq, Libs, and NDP to ensure Max lost his own riding. So the main objective of all those parties was the same, keep a real leader out, as it would show their own inadequacies.

    1. L – Parliament, at present, has no Opposition Parties, and most certainly none that are loyal. What it has is a conspiracy of dunces.

    2. How rational is it to continue voting for central Canadians who either don’t have a clew about Albertans or simply don’t give a damn? Even the great savior Harper was born in Ont & look what a disappointment he was.

      Not. Interested.

The only way out of this mess is UDI.

  14. Last April and again in November, I emailed my MP (Stephanie Kusie – Calgary) stating that I was beyond disappointed in O’Toole as a leader and wanted him gone. Also advised that my support in way of donations to & vote for the CPC were over until that happened. Got one “boilerplate” response from her office to my first email and nothing again.

I might renew my membership, just to be able to vote for a new leader if/when they hold a leadership review/vote.

  15. O’Foole is not the main problem. The problem is the idiot Trudeau ad those who control him. Follow that chain of command and then you will know who to point the finger at.

  16. What good will be accomplished ousting otoole? The majority of the cpc are clearly ok with his communism. As long as they’re collecting a paycheck they could give a fart about Alberta or Saskatchewan or any taxpayer for that matter.

Separate and start with a clean sheet government. No more welfare, corruption, bloated government largesse.
