Firearm Legislation and Firearm-Related Fatalities in the United States
Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Dr. Eric Fleegler: Conclusions and Relevance – A higher number of firearm laws in a state are associated with a lower rate of firearm fatalities in the state, overall and for suicides and homicides individually.
John Hinderaker: Conclusions and Relevance – [N]ote that Fleegler’s study covers all 50 states, but leaves out the District of Columbia. Why do you suppose he chose to do that? …. Now let’s redo Fleegler’s math, with the District counted as one of the ten strictest jurisdictions. We now have an average rate of 4.0 gun homicides per 100,000 in the ten most anti-gun jurisdictions, and a gun homicide rate of 3.5 per 100,000 in the ten jurisdictions with the fewest gun regulations, even if we include the outlier, Louisiana.
But that’s just tasting the icing of Dr. Fleegler’s statistical upside-down cake.

Clare v. Cukier
Thanks for putting up the link to the debate. Enough gun owners showed up to
give them trouble at the CBC and wreck their polls.
You might be interested in these screenshots when Wendy Cukier deviated from
her usual script and got honest. She was asked by someone why she was
“against women being able to defend themselves” and she replied “I don’t think anyone should defend themselves”.
It is a hypocritical answer especially since they have the infamous cyclist
killer Michael Bryant working for the Coalition for Gun Control now.
However it also betrays her true motives as it is the retort of a person who
is trying to politically dominate by levering buzzwords such as pacifism,
and selling out victims instead of having a fair political argument based on
reality.
Clare v. Cukier
Sheldon Clare of the NFA is debating Wendy Cukier of Coalition for Gun Control on the CBC fifth estate Webinar tonight.
Welcome to our live chat. Tonight’s fifth estate – Crossfire – takes aim at the furious fight over guns in America. Tune in on CBC Television this evening at 9 PM local time (9:30 NT) and share your thoughts on where you stand. We will be joined by guests on both sides of the firing line starting at 8 PM ET.
I wonder if they’ll take questions from the online audience…assuming there is an audience.

And just today, NBC was caught in yet another malicious edit, this time to make Second Amendment advocates look as though they did something as heinous as heckling the heartsick father of a child who lost his six-year-old son in the Sandy Hook massacre.

If It Saves One Life
[A] man in Washington, D.C., came to the rescue of an eleven-year-old child who was being savagely mauled by three pit-bulls. The dogs — illegally unleashed and unsupervised — attacked after they collided with the bike the child was riding. The neighbor began shooting at the dogs to save the child, and was promptly assisted by a nearby D.C. patrol officer who helped the citizen put the dogs down. The child was rushed to surgery to treat wounds to his torso, arms, and legs. For his prompt and decisive action in saving the child’s life, D.C. said they would nominate this heroic neighbor for Citizen of the Year.
Just kidding.
