  1. His sight line is so low that it’s below the back of the frame. He not only can’t see the ramp on top of the barrels, he can’t even see the barrels themselves.

    Exactly what kind of shotgun is this? Is that a rifle sight on the end of the barrel(s)?
    And why are there two jets of smoke – one from the end of the barrel and one spurting out the top of the barrel about a foot back from the muzzle?

  7. TC – the smoke is from the compensation port on the top. Some gas is ejected to reduce the vertical component of the recoil.

  8. His stance, how he alone doesn’t need to lean into the shotgun, shows expertise. Perhaps Richard Cheney will show him some shooting skills. (.. and I like Mr. Cheney).

  9. I think it’s a Browning Citori, – the funny Italian name, that doesn`t mean anything and was thought of by the marketing department. I have never used one but they are very popular guns.
    I wouldn`t expect Obama to be much of a shooter, but really, so what? That being said, the picture does look photoshopped. The way he is holding the gun makes it looked like a doctored picture.

  10. Got it from your previous post – thanks. I was under the impression muzzle brakes were at the end of the muzzle. Still, seems like a lot of money to pay for a shotgun with a hole in the barrel.
    Here’s the relevant passage from Wikipedia:
    “Muzzle brakes benefit rapid-fire, fully automatic fire, and large-bore hunting rifles.”
    Who knew that skeet shotguns were also assault rifles…

  12. Convenient how the gun stock, shades and ear muffs keep us from telling if that is Obambam or a stand-in. I opt for the stand-in. Nancy boys like the ‘bammer are scared of guns.

  13. I love the big huge cheek pad. Bet you the first round he fired kicked him right in the cheek bone like a mule. Because of course he ignored the instructor like all know-it-all poseurs always do.
    The gun rocked him right back on his heels too, another failure to listen to the instructor. As someone noted above, with that stance and eye line he couldn’t hit a barn from the inside.
    Lefties just love lyin’.

  14. By his stance and hold it looks like he has never fired a gun before. He isn’t leaning into the gun so he must be firing light loads. If he were firing anything with some actual recoil his stance would be too upright to handle the recoil and he would be kicked back on his heels slightly. Also, look at where the butt of the gun is in his shoulder. He is making the novice mistake of holding the gun too high so the butt is not firmly into his shoulder and the gun would actually rotate up on his shoulder when he fires. That is, if he were actually firing any shells with any real power. And because he is holding the gun too high he doesn’t have a good line of sight down the barrel. If he were serious about hitting a target rather than just posing for a photo op then this might ba a concern for him. These are just the obvious mistakes I can see from just a quick examination of the photo. If it were a better quality pic I would be able to determine also if he has a lame grip on the gun with his left hand as I can’t exactly tell if he has his left thumb properly wrapped around the stock or not.

  15. Why is there pixelation only around the president and the gun? It looks to me like someone said “hey we’re being criticized over this, let’s get a photo out there. So they took the president to an indoor gun range, had him fire a shot and stuck it on a picture from the summer using photoshop…..

    Unless my eyes have failed me, the barrels do not line up with the stock; they are pointing up and not in alignment.
    The section of barrel ahead of the right hand tilts up.
    Get a specialized scientific instrument (the edge of a piece of paper)and see for your self.
    Also, the section of the barrel ahead of the breech seems way out of alignment with the metal in that area and the barrel ahead of the right hand.

  17. Robert, when I first saw this pix I said photoshoped, but never looked close enough to see the thumb position, it’s “laying” on the stock, not wrapped. Probably firing a low load with just wadding, what a goof, to have to prove he’s a MAN of the gun!!!

  18. I blew it up and it’s Photoshopped, albeit quite well done. There is a thin black outline around his head from the original background and there is pixellation around his jeans pockets. Likewise, the tree behind the upwardly bent barrel (!) is pixellated right above that same barrel and I doubt that the tree was discontinuous!

    I have a problem with the guy who says he is a Constitutional professor who has no idea why the 2A is in it.

    The only reason I don’t use them is the increased noise and blast radius.

  32. Rich, you have a keen eye. The barrel(s) of a typical shotgun don’t taper straight from the chamber to the muzzle. Have a look at a pic of a shotgun with a vented rib and it will highlight the angle you see.

  35. I’ve never seen a picture of a worse shooter. As others have noted, his sight picture is compromised because his eyes are below the top of the barrel (can he even see the bead?) and he is not leaning forward in the necessary athletic stance. Take a look at how much of the butt pad is above his shoulder, the recoil forces would have been distributed over only half the area of the pad and the comb of the stock is smacking him in the cheekbone. If anyone were to shoot a full round of skeet using such a bad hold on the gun, they’d be beaten black and blue.
    The second thing I notice is the quality of the picture. Wherever the president goes there is at least one official White House photographer, to record all the official ‘grip and grin’ stuff and private moments. The photographers take 20,000 pictures per week, according to PBS (pbs.org/programs/presidents-photographer/) and use the best equipment available. Have you ever seen a photo of Obama that was of such low quality? The resolution is terrible and nothing is in focus. This photo was not shot by a professional photographer using the latest equipment.

  39. Is he trying to out-macho Putin? It’s a pretty sad comment that photos, fake or not, a released to show how American is their President. Gosh, he’s just like a big brother.

    What I see in this pathetic photo-op is desperation to quell the “He’s gonna take our guns” crowd.
    The MSM has so underplayed the significance of the “Pro Gun, Second Amendment” uprisings in the US over the last several years, especially in the last several months. It’s HUGE.
    That doesn’t mean Obamba isn’t going full tilt for the guns, it just means this is how stupid and desperate they’ve become to hide it.

  48. Why only one picture? Al_in_Ottawa makes a good case about the quality of photos taken when the President is involved so why is this one so poor. But I wonder… why only one?
