Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“It put him into a situation which was beyond his abilities”
Topographical maps are your friend. Reading one might be beyond someone’s abilities though.
Throw in the requirement of a compass & he’s equally screwed.
Yeah, when the lines get really close together, even overlap, that’s the easiest way, right?
“…near a climbing route known as the “Widowmaker.”
That made me chuckle.
I recall the German couple following the GPS on their new Mercedes right into the ocean after failing to stop at a ferry crossing.
But I’m guilty of this as well. I had to meet some colleagues at a restaurant and just clicked on the Google link on my phone which switched over to my truck GPS. Easy-peasy. Drove 50 minutes, turned into the parking lot, parked the truck after the “you have arrived at your destination”. Looked around … no sign of a restaurant. Back to Google.
Have recently had occasion to ask two A.I. platforms the identical factual question with a yes or no answer. Got contradictory responses.
When you tell Grock that Gemini disagrees, you get “here’s where Gemini got it wrong.” Sometimes you can get a reluctant concession that the other S.I. might be right (see what I did there!).
I see what you did there and know YOU can find your way to Lake America! Congrats, brotha
USGS … PAPER … maps are your friend.
