Brady Tkachuk is an American hockey player and up until June 20th was the Captain of the Ottawa Senators. But he dared … wait for it … to play for the American Men’s Hockey Team at the recent Winter Olympics and then … even worse … look out for the best interests of himself and his family. This was simply too much for more than a few Canadian hockey fans and they let loose with a tirade of anti-American hatred against Tkachuk specifically and Americans generally.   1. Some stupid comments in the above …. no one with a brain was upset that Brady & Mathew were on the US olympic team … despite their father being canadian they were born and raised in St Louis if I remember right so of course they would play for the yanks.
    Trump has all the Lieberal leftie’s panties in a knot and therefore in Canuckistan lefty TDS is off scale at the moment …. Brady may have got some of that anger but real hockey fans won’t be upset.
    However u can be sure that many are seeing a trend with american superstar hockey players bailing on their canadian teams whether or not the reasons for bailing are sound. I would never consider drafting or trading for a US citizen star hockey player to play in Canada …. odds are too high that he will return stateside and destroy the team you have built around him.
    It happened in Calgary with Tkatchuk and Gaudreau and now Ottawa … this trend is not the friend of Canadian hockey teams.

  2. I’m sure all those elbows up Sens fans are happy Brady is heading south , but they better hope the deal improves their mediocre club . The Toronto elbows up fans are probably staring down the same scenario with Matthews . Enjoy the decline .

  3. Meanwhile Gretzky is still a saint. And nobody seems to mind Caufield playing for Montreal. These guys are pro athletes and they go where the money takes them or in some cases where they actually want to go. Will McDavid, arguably the best NHL player ever see a Stanley cup or wil he be stuck in a loser team like Gilbert Perreault was? Could you blame him for changing teams? Pro sport is just pro port. Money talks and that’s why US teams win the cup while the majority of the best players are Canadian. The days where a player was the home boy and played on the same team for his whole career are over. Tkachuk is a bit of an asshole anyways, and I wish him luck.

        Roughly the same antics that earned Brad Marchand or Alex Burrows the same label. Thing is, though, you very much want a guy like that on your team if you can get him.

        1. ^ Pretty much what he said. Every team needs a bit of an asshole. As for the women’s league… I got free tickets for one of the games and went (there was an open bar pre-game). Everything was there, yuge promo, merchandise, every lesbian in town, and the girls all had top of the line gear. What was missing? Hockey. Hockey with no upper body strenght is lame as heck. I don’t even think the Leafs deserve to be sent to the women’s league. I can’t hate that much.

  4. In a completely unrelated story … Messi … at 38yo is still the BEST in the world. But he is playing in the lowly MLS … in FL. He could be playing for ANY top team in ANY top league in the world. So why is he slumming in the MLS?

    Spain sued the shit out of Messi for millions in back taxes, they claimed he owed. So it was adios to Barcelona. Now he is swimming in $$$$$$. It’s quite remarkable who immigrates to RED States.

As an American I know that most other Americans have a benign view of Canada and Canadians, which are viewed, if at all, as a big blob of a place way up there filled with hockey players, Mounties, lots of trees and good fishing. Likewise, most Americans have no idea that a majority of Canadians hate our guts.. Pity if that should change.

    1. As an American I know thanks to smalldeadanimals.com and Sam Cooper of The Bureau that Canada is run by the CCP, Marxists and The Mexican Drug Cartels along with a Laurentian Elite who hate their own country about as much as Democrats hate America.
      I know they have had terrible leadership under Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney and show zero signs that they will change.
      The reason is that Canada is not Canada anymore but a mixture of Chinese, Hindus, Sikks, Muslims and Africans who were imported to replace the native Canadians and vote for The Left. The strategy worked so that now 50 to 70% of the best software and STEM Grads from Canada’s top universities apparently flee here as soon as they graduate. Well, thank you for that at least and I am sure Elon Musk employs a bunch of them.

    3. Most Canadians certainly do not hate the Americans as a matter of conviction. Most Canadian are trained to do what they’re told and then forget about it. The Canadian establishment is insanely anti-American and frequently calls on Canadians to hate America, and a large number of the more obedient do, but the next day they’re perfectly happy with the Americans. Most Canadians regard the whole thing with disgust.

  7. The simpleminded, beer addled, ElBoWZo hockey fan has worked hard to besmirch and scold the various American players that won Olympic Gold. And, for what purpose does it serve their hometown teams?
    Ottawa is worse without Tkachuk and will be for years, receiving draft picks in return, two of them in 2029 and 2030.
    They chased Marner out of Cheranna, and have tried hard to run out Mathew’s, which still might happen yet.
    Hughes was lucky to leave Van early, but he was smart, seeing that the team supporting cast didn’t measure up and strongly hinted at wanting to escape. And yes, Hughes is correct, the Canucks organization is horrible, stupid and tone deaf.
    Aside from the insanity of TDS ElBoWZos intent on turning Canada into a third world hellhole, major stars of the NHL want to play in the US for 2 reasons.
    Better Teams
    Better Tax Rates. Players can pocket up to an extra million a year due to lower tax rates, in red states, namely Texas, Nevada and Florida. Needless to say, the weather is better.
    Notice no one is demanding to play in California, New York or Washington? Yeah. Taxed like Canadastanis there.
    Enjoy Montreal’s run of decent play. They will get 3 or 4 years of this until salary demands tear the team apart, and some demand to play in the US, like, Caufield, whom they won’t be able to afford to keep.
    Once again, Canada is it’s own worst enemy.
