    1. Many also work to reconcile the fact that Caesar Chavez was steadfastly opposed to illegal immigration as it depressed the wages and working conditions of the workers he championed.

It’s very similar to the modern-day cancelling of MLK Jr’s. … certain … speeches about content of character … as being uncomfortable truths.

  1. As Ann Coulter pointed out yesterday, Chavez was anti illegal immigration so it was only a matter of time before progs finally decided to “take out the trash”.

  2. A sobering reflection on César Chávez’s anti-immigration views and lasting legacy | Politics | calonews.com

‘In a 1974 interview with La Paz, Chávez accused agricultural growers and authorities of exploiting undocumented Mexican immigrants as strikebreakers to undermine the UFW union. He claimed that these “illegal workers” were being smuggled into the U.S. to break strikes and weaken the union’s efforts.’
As JD wrote, Chavez is no longer useful to progressive socialists.

    1. You can be right and a kiddy diddler. They aren’t mutually exclusive. When I was a teenager my girlfriend’s parents lived in Simcoe, Ontario. We met some friends of theirs who owned apple orchards and who brought blacks in to pick the apples. On Friday night we would drink beer with the locals who complained there were no jobs. A little farther up the road was Tillsonburg. No jobs there either picking tobacco.

  3. Most heroes are anonymous or known to only a few.
The Poster Boys and Poster Girls are often assholes on a good day.

    1. Absolutely! Excellent point.
How many times do we see/hear of reluctant heroes? People thrust into the spotlight who humbly say they were just doing what anyone in that situation would have done. They actually bristle at the ‘hero’ label.

    1. I remember the guy who wrote online, “I just saw the movie about Harvey Milk, and I didn’t like it at all. Am I homophobic?” To which the reply came, “No, just lactose intolerant”.

  4. Chavez died 33 years ago. How is he supposed to defend himself? Not a fan of kiddy diddlers but too late.

    1. Ah yes … but NOT in the State of CA where there is NO statute of limitations on sex crimes. So all one needs is an exploitive psychologist who helps their patient discover … hidden, repressed, memories … and voila! You can suddenly remember that Father MacKenzie held you on his knee … while rubbing your privates … 48 years ago.

  5. the NYT link is behind a subscription page.
the trick is to ‘hit the x’ and halt the page load leaving the subscription exhortation stranded and then you can read the article. sometimes it works soemtimes not. an old tricj with tranna star was to go to the ‘archive’ in a google search for the previous day’s issue but they got wind of that,
another trick with Nat Post for instance is/was to google the story headline, then look it up on some sister publication that didnt have a subsription demand and read it there.
ah kritter, still hacking 45 years later? yep !!!!

  6. Oh the irony as First Partner Jennifer Siebel accused Harvey Weinstein of making her masturbate him or some such nonsense … bitter she didn’t receive the part she was promised … if she were just … nice … to him.

Caesar Chávez didn’t attend any childhood sleepovers in Ross, CA where she grew up. Yeah … “those people” cleaned her toilets … they weren’t houseguests. She is a vile, spoilt, little rich girl … mean rich girl.
