In Saskatchewan there were no days in August above 30 degree c .I cannot remember a colder October. Today may hit 8 degree. The warmest since the beginning of the month. The rest where I am at has been highs of maybe 3 degree. So , is this more signs of the warmest years ever and global warming or has that new carbor tax fixed it already. Sunny ways ?
I have been very put by the media claiming nearly a month ahead of the election that Hillary has won. There was another article in the National Post today making this assumption. Good to see some push back. I think Trump’s numbers are higher than is bring reported.
I agree, I too think Trumps numbers are higher as well. It’s worrying them, otherwise why would they be scraping the depths for anything they can find on him? I’d be more concerned if Clinton(s) win at this point.
The fact is that if a group of 7 or more surveys are within two points, they’re an accurate group of surveys. When you see 10% discrepancies, they’re trash, or at least some of them.
I worked on a survey once for a major Saskatchewan Ford dealership. The question was, ”If you were purchasing a new pickup tomorrow, would you buy a Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge, etc.” We had a list of numbers to call; the amount of phone numbers we received were listed in proportion of the population of the communities. For example a community with 2700 people would have had 20 numbers to call where a city of 25,000 would have had 200. Rural areas were calculated the same way.
At the end of the day however, I could have written down any answer I wanted. Given the reasons we were conducting the survey for, it would not have been to our advantage to do so. Had it been a political survey however, it could have easily been fudged. Today, we’d use an online survey where the customer could see the results of the survey, and the location where the answers derived from. But I’m sure there are ways around that too!
These days many surveys you are asked to participate in have an agenda and sometimes a contradictory agenda. The other day I was doing a survey about agricultural herbicide choices.
Questions: Which herbicide company do you like the least? Why? Which herbicide company do you like the most? Why?
You cannot leave the question blank otherwise the survey is incomplete and you won’t be entitled to a small honorarium.
The purchase of herbicides for your crops have nothing to do with a particular like or dislike you may have for the maker of the herbicides. This kind of nonsense happens more and more.
Did it ever occur to the developers of these surveys that the success or failure of any product rests on the efficacy of said product as opposed to the likability of the manufacturer.
