Oh, Shiny Potato!

Somebody needs a hug.

Interviewed by reporters after several days of negotiations, Freeland seemed harrowed, speaking in a strained voice and appearing to hold back tears.
She said it seemed evident that the European Union is not capable, right now, of having an international agreement, “even with a country with European values such as Canada, even with a country as nice and as patient as Canada.”
“Canada is disappointed. I am personally very disappointed. I worked very, very hard,” she said.

And a new job teaching kindergarten.

  1. If you have seen Freedland’s perky stupidity on a show with Bill Mayer this won’t surprise you.

  2. I walked into a Peavy Mart store with my grandsons this week. They were looking at two model tractors of D-10 Caterpillars. Both were made in Germany, and the box had ”EU” stamped on the side. Very expensive, and quite well made, however of plastic and not steel. At least not of the quality that some of the John Deere models were.
Germans build great products, and Caterpillar does have a lengthy history in that country. However are we not able to build a toy tractor in North America?? Or would the unionized workers chose to go on strike just to upset the boys at Christmas?? An no, they’re not playing with Barbie!

  3. Look at the Potato-in-Chief: a brainless blow-dried, big-haired clothes horse. He leads a cabinet whose members are largely the same.
Why should any of us be surprised at their fatuous vapidity and blundering ineffectiveness? Then again, we know they have their jobs simply for display and that the real government is hidden from public view.

  4. Anyone want to bet that post Brexit Britain has a trade agreement before the 37 assorted clowns in the EU?

  5. Oops–sorry–that should read ”She” needs a hug alright. From a guy like Hulk Hogan.

  6. If the Canadian gov’t. didn’t already pay $$$$$ the “First Peoples” so well, then Canada might have some really cheap labor to build quality tractors at a profit. Luckily, the Germans have millions of cheap Gypsy and desperate ex Soviet bloc. laborers to crank out those plastic tractors. Might I suggest you open your Southern border as widely as Obama has … and you’ll have all the cheap labor you need … at least until they discover some Algonquin DNA in their blood …

  7. Ah, poor Unonothing. Can you give Princess Snowflake Chrystia a participation ribbon, and maybe a blue star for effort? I knew you could, beta boy

  8. Oh my.
Another special little snowflake learns the meaning of the word no.
Coming from people their tantrums have no effect on.
Seems like most common meanings are not understood by our inbred, inept elites.
I guess,as with the Sons of the Desert Pedophile, inbreeding and incest have longterm consequences.
As noted by many, these Libtard Ministers are not even useful as cover for their masters.

  9. Try not to be utterly stupid. UnoMe is entirely right; this failure was entirely that of the EU. Belgium is the richest dysfunctional state in the world in a list including Somalia and Libya.
Freeland’s stupidity was to cry about it in public, demonstrating that this little wallflower doesn’t have the grit to be town dogcatcher, let alone a federal cabinet minister.
And RD is right. A major benefit of Brexit is that Britain is now free to negotiate its own international agreements. The road to London no longer goes through Brussels.

  11. most people seem not to see this as a good thing. I agree with her, I also say who cares.

  12. I rather think the present Canadian government are right in this case (stopped clocks and all that) The EU functions for the benefit of the commission and the well connected and no-one else.
Hence Brexit, the rise of Marine Let Pen, five star, And etc.

  13. When in opposition Freeland has been seen sitting in the HOC animatedly rehearsing her “lines” before she would stand to pose a question. I think she has a gift for dramatics…emoting is her thing.

  14. Freeland is a minion of Soros!
During the Greek debt crisis I watched her as a reporter for Reuters, interview the old coot George a couple times. These interviews were mostly held in the backseat of george’s car and they were the most sickening display of bootlicking I have ever witnessed. Shortly after that she became a liberal MP. Freeland’s loyalties lie with George soros and NOT with Canadian citizens. All of Canada’s international affairs and trade will be subject to soros’s approval.
An interesting side note during those “interviews ” George kept blurting out “Germany must pay”.

  15. Suffice to say we are not in good hands with the present Liberal Cabal’s regime.
We need to be concerned about the connections of the Minister of Democratic Reform, we need some answers, some clarifications, silence doesn’t cut it in a democracy where we elect our governments and deserve to know pertinent information on those taking care of our business, the business of our country.

  16. “even with a country as nice and as patient as Canada”
Oh, so you mean to say that the big bad world doesn’t actually give a rat’s about what “Canada” thinks or wants? Someone get this woman a fainting couch.
    “Canada is disappointed”
Ah, no. Most citizens of our fair dominion don’t even care.

  17. So Freeland is blaming the EU for this and then keeps talking and expounds on how those Walloons are not as European as the liberal version of canada.
Well I guess this is one more thing Stephen Harper wouldn’t do that the current occupiers of the government side of the HoC will do right now.
    This list is growing.

  18. Would say that the post introduction succinctly describe why the Europeans dismissed the Canadian minister.
    Embarrassment comes to mind

  19. What a F’n JOKE…Where do the Liberals find these useless sacks of whining safe space idiocy…?? Ahhh Yes, at your local University within the gender neutral – “binary snowflake” Faculty (I really like that line..lol), class. Jesus H christ….!! this is what we in Canada get for a TRADE..?? minister… this whimp would lose an argument with herself, let alone be remotely capable of arguing on Canada’s behalf.

  20. Sending an immature girl to do a man’s job … bad idea … She is no Maggie or Golda … she is a millennial twat whose feelings matter (to her)
Selfie Trudeau is in way over his hair and this silly little girl is in way over her emotions.
Please bring back the adults in the next federal election.
Further:I DO NOT HAVE EUROPEAN VALUES AND I DON’T ANYONE WHO DOES. I DON’T WANT A TRADE DEAL WITH THE SKANKS OF THE EU … THEY ARE DULL WITTED COMMIES LIKE OUR NDP. THEY ARE CORRUPT, LIKE HILLARY AND OBAMA

  21. Didn’t we hear Trudeau say that Canada has “no core values”.
Now the tell us Canada has European values.

  22. I DO NOT HAVE EUROPEAN VALUES AND I DON’T KNOW ANY OTHER CANADIAN WHO DOES.
They sent a little girl to do a man’s job and it’s not working. This is a fragile journo twat who rode in on the liberal magic flying carpet where she is in way over her emotions.
Selfie Trudeau who is responsible for this idiot woman is in way over his hair.
I don’t want a trade deal with The EU … they are corrupt and stupid like our NDP

  23. One wonders how on earth Ed Fast was able to oversee negotiations on the tough TPP deal. This involved 12 disparate countries and Canada was able to negotiate a deal very advantageous for us.This also went down to the wire and I don’t recall him braking into tears to denounce those dastardly New Zealanders. The fact that it is probably beside the point with US unlikely to ratify and Liberals put out because it was a Harper government initiative is irrelevant. It involved very tough trade dealings.Liberals really prefer a deal with the communist bosses of China; Jr better send a tougher player than Freeland, if Canada isn’t prepared to give away the store. But they would do exactly that as long as Jr could point to one of his initiatives. Canada really needs people like Ed Fast in cabinet, but being 2016 and all, he just wouldn’t qualify.

  24. Sorry for the double post … this comment system is not very robust …. very slow …. didn’t think my comment got posted, so I did another.

  25. Let’s put the shoe on the other foot…..let’s say that the resistance to the proposed agreement came from one province in Canada…like say Quebec. Do you think for one minute that the Trudeau government would ratify the agreement in that case? Not a chance. But what if that resistance came from say Alberta or Saskatchewan….Do you think that the Trudeau government would ratify the agreement anyway. Absolutely.

  26. I DO NOT HAVE EUROPEAN VALUES AND I DON’T KNOW ANY OTHER CANADIAN WHO DOES.
I do, but I was born there in the mid-1950s. Those European values were typified by a can-do, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. That Europe, however, doesn’t exist any more.
But if you’re referring to the wimpy, marshmallow, foreign-invaders-are-our-friends, gender non-binary, progressive metrosexualism that infests much of the continent nowadays, then, no, I don’t have European values.

  27. Negotiation rule #1
NEVER, EVER, let them see you sweat.
    Negotiation rule #2
There is never a time when rule #1 does not apply.

  28. #CanadasBack…
Yup, back on the red-eye, Brussels to Ottawa direct nonstop 767 (and arriving empty handed).
    Good work Kristina you dipsh*t.
Embarrassed to be Canadian today (but hey, there’s always that UN “Security Council” seat we can buy our way into).
    Jesus wept.
    Niall from Winnipeg

  29. I don’t think she was sweating Dave, I think she was on the brink of tears, but same difference.
It must be an embarrassment to all the Liberal voters out there to see the mediocrity of the talent that they have elected to govern this country. Damn there I go again, thinking that Liberals ever feel embarrassed or for that matter can ever feel anything but smug superiority. And just think we’re only approaching the 1st anniversary.

  30. She drove Thomson-Reuters into the ground, and now she’s the Trade Minister. FFS, what a useless waste of a little red dress.

  31. I’m not a big fan of trade agreements because we seem to lose almost every dispute. Trade has supposed to have brought amazing economic growth of 1 to 3 percent every year since 1970. If we doubled or triple our wealth, I’m having trouble seeing it. Our houses are a couple hundred square feet bigger and our houses and landfills are full of plastic shit from China. The whole high tech revolution has netted Canada close to nothing but has enriched much of Asia. Shouldn’t trade be about us?

  32. I want our elected/appointed representatives to act like the professionals they are supposed to be; obviously this person is not the kind of person that dusts themselves off and jumps back into the game when the going gets rough, instead our trade minister grabs her….cat and goes home.

  33. The Chinese will not buy the toys that they make. Instead, they save up and buy safer Japanese toys instead:
““I dare not buy cheap wooden toys or toys with paint,” said Lin Yan, a professor at Shanghai International Studies University, whose 7-year-old daughter tested for elevated levels of lead in her blood.
“I have a stupid standard: I buy her expensive toys in big department stores. I can only assume most of the expensive ones are foreign brands and are guaranteed to have better quality,” said Lin.
When her daughter is given toys she suspects are unsafe, she throws them away.
“Sometimes they have indescribable odors,” she said.”

PM Hair-Boy has sold half of this country to his favourite country.
I shudder to think how the EU will screw us over.

  34. Emotional outbursts like walking out of negotiations have no place in international affairs.
Freeland is not qualified to be doing the job she has been handed.
The rest of spud’s cabinet have similar qualifications. All emotions, crying and feelings. Not a lick of sense among them.
As the captain goes so goes the ship.

  35. With apologies to Tom Hanks as Jimmy Dugan:
“Are you crying? Are you crying? ARE YOU CRYING? There’s no crying! THERE’S NO CRYING IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS!”

  36. I thought prisoners could make toys instead of watching porn. A good friend of mine was a retired guard at Oakalla prison in Burnaby, BC. He started working there in the early 50’s where some of the inmates were actually waiting execution. They made work boots in a small factory on the premises, until the bleeding hearts yelled ”slavery.” In 1991 the gov shut it down. They blamed it on a prison riot, however it was all over leftist prison policies that would seed the province with repeat offenders. This is 2011 article that fails to mention the boot factory.

  37. And along comes stupid Ambrose, saying that turdo la doo should get over there and try to close the deal. WTF is wrong with these “Conservatives”. Why would anyone in their right mind want to enter a trade agreement with these European arseholes when the cost of admission is adopting the same insane jungle of regulations that these pathetic bastards operate under?

  38. European values………we now have values all of a sudden? Not ‘ shared’ values? Not ‘different values’ which we can celebrate or ‘post-national’ values? Worst of all……’European’? Egad, quelle horreur!
