Pipeline to Nowhere: Construction of new oil pipeline to B.C. coast won’t include lifting oil tanker ban
Describing it as “a big day for Canada” and “a big day for British Columbia,” B.C. Premier David Eby and Prime Minister Mark Carney on Thursday announced the signing of a multibillion dollar memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two governments that could help pave the way for construction of a new oil pipeline from Alberta to the B.C. coast.
“This agreement doesn’t require us to support any pipeline proposal from Alberta,” said Eby, who, along with First Nations, has been adamantly opposed to lifting the federal ban on oil tanker traffic along B.C.’s north coast.[…]
The MOU also includes a commitment by Ottawa to engage in “early consistent and meaningful consultations with First Nations,” along with “an economic and revenue framework for British Columbia” that will include an annual royalty payment to British Columbia by the pipeline operator and “an environmental liability and emergency response fund held in trust accessible by B.C. and First Nations.”

I’m sure Zinchuk will have more in due course.

There are lots of Alberta pipelines that start in BC. Woopee! Alberta would likely get a lot of tax from BC gas and oil going east and south. Carbon Credit Market? They tried that 10 to 20 years ago. The endless supply of fake credits crushed it. I’m sure China still has an endless supply
So long as the anti-pipeline Act and anti-tanker ban is in effect, NO corporation will take this project on. Eby and Carnage are two, deceitful, lying communist csuckers.
Canadastan needs an enema, from coast to coast.
I’ll support anything which helps bump up support in AB/Sask. for separation.
20% GST ?
sure
2 years of mandatory military conscription for men AND women between 18 and 70?
sure
Outlawing all forms of meat production in the country?
sure
…
etc
I’ll raise you 3 years of mandatory service in a forest fire brigade on/near a reserve.
LOL … CA is building a high speed [sic] train to nowhere … and Canada is building an oil pipeline to nowhere.
I’m just curious … how many ‘smudgings’ are mandated per mile of the pipeline?
Canada is building a railroad from Quebec to the Gay Commie Middle East. Otherwise known as Toronto
Alberta AI data center flares off unused terabytes of data…..

my extent of knowledge of the oil industry.
-there’s lots of it in the ground
-l highly suspect given the huge concentrations of it way way deep down all over the globe that it is *primarily* from a geological process, NOT rotted dinosaurs, and
-it costs a lot of money to go fetch it but the qtys justify to do so.
and, even *I* know these 2 positions are abjectly contradictory
Silly, silly Kritter … we hit peak oil in 1977 … The highly respected scientific nuclear engineer and POTUS Jimmy Carter said so! Science!! Economics!!

Please get back on the narrative train.
Look at it from an economic standpoint. If you sell oil, you don’t want Canadian oil on the market. It’s that simple. The opponents to those pipelines have good funding.
wow – some really great ideas in that announcement ! I would suggest that royalties ( tariffs -taxes – extortion, whatever you wish to call it) be charged at the Alberta and Saskatchewan borders on anything moving East. We can use them to buy carbon credits and we should create our own. We will save the world(sic) ! Frankly I didn’t think there was any hope of a positive separation vote but apparently the Lieberals don’t believe it is a mistake to go full retard. I really believe in the end they will not respect the vote or will manipulate the result and the only way out will be ugly.
Re ” I would suggest that royalties ( tariffs -taxes – extortion, whatever you wish to call it) be charged at the Alberta and Saskatchewan borders on anything moving East”
Yes!!, I agree completely although I would also tariff goods heading west. BC can be as green as they want, they can worry about tanker spills all they want, BUT that should come at a cost. Alberta should firm up it’s already good relationship with the U.S., ship our trans-Pacific goods through American ports including our Asia-bound oil. Shut down the TMX pipeline completely. B.C. can find their fuel from somewhere else. I have always been a ‘play hardball’ kind of guy. Even if it costs money to do it it will be worth it in the end. Let BC be the one who’s landlocked from the rest of Canada. There has to be a cost to them for this nonsense.
“BC can be as green as they want, they can worry about tanker spills all they want,”
The last proposal BC rejected was that all oil tankers traversing our coast would be double-hulled, GPS equipped *and* escorted by tugboats. Oil spills are a relic of the past.
I just googled the stats. The only tanker spill ever was the Exxon Valdez in 1989. That was a single hull tanker which haven’t been used for many years now. There was a sinking of an oil barge off Vancouver Island and a few boat sinkings like that ferry from 2006. There is no other country in the world that hamstrings it’s industries and resource development like Canada. Same with taxing carbon. No other countries. At the root of it are leftist governments that also run multi-billion dollar deficits year after year dragging what should be the wealthiest country in the world into bankruptcy. We are all locked inside a train speeding towards a wall at 100 mph and most of the country is completely oblivious to it. But Mark’s our hero, right?
the *only* satisfactory answer l hve consistantly come up with to explain all that is Canaduhian voters are ghastly misinformed plus many of them vote Liberal regardless. those to facts cover their voting patterns in the face of reckless spending and scandal after scandal.

Lipstick on a pig. A pipeline pig.
Alberta, no one is coming to save you. Not Danielle Smith, no ‘conservative politician’. You all keep playing by the ‘old rules’. Where has that gotten you?
The mindless Eloi voted for Elbows up Carney and got Trudeau on Steroids with a Napoleon and Carbon complex.
Smith got sucked into proposing tripling the Transmountain pipeline. The only positive is that all the grifting chiefs lined up to shakedown the Northern route are all shit out of luck. F-em!
